TwitterThe tables in this publication present more frequent and timely information, during the coronavirus outbreak, on the impact on workload volumes and activity across the court and tribunal system, these include:
These figures reflect the data held on the relevant case management systems and hence have some definitional and timing differences from the Official Statistics. They are subject to the data quality issues associated with large administrative systems, including the late reporting of cases and regular updating of case details, which can lead to the figures for previous periods being revised each publication. Revisions to monthly figures are generally small and do not usually change the overall picture of performance. More recent weekly figures are however subject to larger revision and should be treated as provisional. The Official Statistics provide a more comprehensive view of a range of statistics related to court systems, including HMCTS performance, putting the figures in context and analysing the key aspects. Users are advised to use the Official Statistics for most purposes and to use the published management information only to understand the very latest high-level position.

In 2023, there were 720,652 full-time law enforcement officers employed in the United States, an increase from 708,001 the previous year. Within the provided time period, the number of full-time law enforcement officers was lowest in 2013, with 626,942 officers.
Employment in law enforcement
According to the source, law enforcement officers are defined as those individuals who regularly carry a firearm and an official badge on their person, have full powers of arrest, and whose salaries are paid from federal funds set aside specifically for sworn law enforcement. Law enforcement, particularly when it comes to officers, is a male-dominated field. Law enforcement employees can either be officers or civilians, and federal law enforcement agencies cover a wide area of jurisdictions -- from the National Park Service to the FBI.

DWP statisticians improved the methodology of matching the HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) appeals data with ESA administrative data and started implementing it with the March 2020 statistical release.
The improved methodology has resulted in increases to the number of appeals for current and historic ESA Work Capability Assessments outcomes. However, the new methodology has not changed the overall story or proportions of Work Capability Assessments appeals that are upheld or overturned.

TwitterThe objective of the Adult Criminal Court Survey (ACCS) is to develop and maintain a database of statistical information on appearances, charges, and cases in adult criminal courts. The survey is intended to be a census of federal statute charges heard in provincial and superior criminal courts in Canada. It includes information on the age and sex of the accused, case decision patterns, sentencing information regarding the length of prison and probation, and amount of fine, as well as case-processing data such as case elapsed time. These data on federal statute charges heard in adult criminal courts in the reference period are collected by the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics (CCJS) in collaboration with provincial and territorial government departments responsible for adult criminal courts. The data are collected to respond to the needs of the provincial/territorial and federal departments of justice and attorneys-general, researchers and policy analysts, academics and the media, as well as to inform the public how adults are dealt with by adult provincial/territorial criminal courts in Canada. The ACCS has been replaced by the Integrated Criminal Court Survey (ICCS).

This is a summary of the National Statistics on the outcomes of completed Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) Work Capability Assessments (WCA). The publication covers information on both initial and repeat ESA assessments in Great Britain.
Similar to the last publication, this release does not include any information sourced from appeals data and only consists of a reduced set of data tables. This is due to delays with the receipt of the HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) data which did not allow enough time for the inclusion of this data in the release. For future publications we will be able to include a complete back-series covering any missing tables. This release therefore includes:
Only the information for MRs and end-to-end clearance times for initial claims is published on https://stat-xplore.dwp.gov.uk/webapi/jsf/login.xhtml">Stat-Xplore, while the remaining information is published as data tables. Once the issues with the appeals data is resolved, future publications will include a complete backseries covering any missing tables.
This release does not include:
Universal Credit (UC) was rolled out to every Jobcentre across Great Britain by December 2018 and has now replaced income-related ESA for most new claimants. This has greatly changed the volume and composition of new claims to ESA.
Note: Information is only available for claims that began at least 6 months following the assessment date, or 9 months following the date of claim. This is because of the time required for the customer journey to end and for the information recorded to be as complete as possible.
