    Description

    The NYSERDA-funded Integrated Energy Data Resource (IEDR) provides a single statewide platform to securely collect, integrate, analyze, and make accessible a large and diverse set of energy-related information from New York's electric, gas, and steam utilities and other sources. Useful access to useful energy data provided by the IEDR enables analyses that informs investment decisions, identifies operational inefficiencies, monitors the effectiveness of policy objectives, promotes innovation, and encourages new business models. The IEDR includes analytic tools to enable energy stakeholders to design and run useful queries and calculations that can operate across all data types in the IEDR. Those tools' number and functionality should increase over time to align with, and support the use cases, that become operational as part of the IEDR. Additionally, relational information that describes the relationships among the various data elements in the IEDR materially affects the depth potential of users' ability to find, analyze, and generate useful information. User access to the IEDR data and analytic tools will be governed by the access controls that reflect and align with each type of user's legitimate needs while preventing unwarranted access to information that does not serve those legitimate needs. Public, utility-managed, and commercial datasets processed by the platform and made available or planned to be made available to approved users in various forms include: • Feeder and sub-feeder hosting capacity • Installed and queued DER projects • Utility Rates and Tariffs • Customer billing and usage • Aggregated building usage • Disadvantaged Community Characteristics • Land, Parcel, and Terrain attributes The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) offers objective information and analysis, innovative programs, technical expertise, and support to help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, save money, use renewable energy, accelerate economic growth, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.     Description

    The data explorer allows users to create bespoke cross tabs and charts on consumption by property attributes and characteristics, based on the data available from NEED. Two variables can be selected at once (for example property age and property type), with mean, median or number of observations shown in the table. There is also a choice of fuel (electricity or gas). The data spans 2008 to 2022.

    Figures provided in the latest version of the tool (June 2024) are based on data used in the June 2023 National Energy Efficiency Data-Framework (NEED) publication. More information on the development of the framework, headline results and data quality are available in the publication. There are also additional detailed tables including distributions of consumption and estimates at local authority level. The data are also available as a comma separated value (csv) file.

    Description

    The United States is embarking on an ambitious transition to a 100% clean energy economy by 2050, which will require improving the flexibility of electric grids. One way to achieve grid flexibility is to shed or shift demand to align with changing grid needs. To facilitate this, it is critical to understand how and when energy is used. High quality end-use load profiles (EULPs) provide this information, and can help cities, states, and utilities understand the time-sensitive value of energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed energy resources. Publicly available EULPs have traditionally had limited application because of age and incomplete geographic representation. To help fill this gap, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) funded a three-year project, End-Use Load Profiles for the U.S. Building Stock, that culminated in this publicly available dataset of calibrated and validated 15-minute resolution load profiles for all major residential and commercial building types and end uses, across all climate regions in the United States. These EULPs were created by calibrating the ResStock and ComStock physics-based building stock models using many different measured datasets, as described in the "Technical Report Documenting Methodology" linked in the submission.

Moreover, the dataset contains information about some energy-related behaviors of the occupants along with some extracted indices.     Description

    The BUTTER-E - Energy Consumption Data for the BUTTER Empirical Deep Learning Dataset adds node-level energy consumption data from watt-meters to the primary sweep of the BUTTER - Empirical Deep Learning Dataset. This dataset contains energy consumption and performance data from 63,527 individual experimental runs spanning 30,582 distinct configurations: 13 datasets, 20 sizes (number of trainable parameters), 8 network "shapes", and 14 depths on both CPU and GPU hardware collected using node-level watt-meters. This dataset reveals the complex relationship between dataset size, network structure, and energy use, and highlights the impact of cache effects.

    BUTTER-E is intended to be joined with the BUTTER dataset (see "BUTTER - Empirical Deep Learning Dataset on OEDI" resource below) which characterizes the performance of 483k distinct fully connected neural networks but does not include energy measurements.

    Note: Find data at source; data is continuously updated・ PG&E provides non-confidential, aggregated usage data that are available to the public and updated on a quarterly basis. These public datasets consist of monthly consumption aggregated by ZIP code and by customer segment: Residential, Commercial, Industrial and Agricultural. The public datasets must meet the standards for aggregating and anonymizing customer data pursuant to CPUC Decision 14-05-016, as follows: a minimum of 100 Residential customers; a minimum of 15 Non-Residential customers, with no single Non-Residential customer in each sector accounting for more than 15% of the total consumption. If the aggregation standard is not met, the consumption will be combined with a neighboring ZIP code until the aggregation requirements are met.

    The National Energy Efficiency Data-Framework (NEED) was set up to provide a better understanding of energy use and energy efficiency in domestic and non-domestic buildings in Great Britain. The data framework matches data about a property together - including energy consumption and energy efficiency measures installed - at household level.

    11 August 2023 Error notice: revisions to the June 2021 Domestic NEED annual report

    We identified 2 processing errors in this edition of the Domestic NEED Annual report and corrected them. The changes are small and do not affect the overall findings of the report, only the domestic energy consumption estimates. The revisions are summarised here:

    Error 1: Local authority consumption estimates

    Error 2: Some properties incorrectly excluded from the Scotland multiple attributes tables

    • Extent of the error: These corrections primarily affect the number in sample column for all years as some properties were incorrectly excluded from the consumption estimates. There have also been revisions to the mean, median, upper and lower quartiles. Using 2019 as an example, around 80% of the updated mean and median values are within 300 kWh of what was previously published.

Other UER datasets include energy use data reported at the county and ZIP code level. Data collected after 2021 were collected according to a modified protocol. Those data may be found at https://data.ny.gov/Energy-Environment/Utility-Energy-Registry-Monthly-Community-Energy-U/4txm-py4p.Data in the UER can be used for several important purposes such as planning community energy programs, developing community greenhouse gas emissions inventories, and relating how certain energy projects and policies may affect a particular community. It is important to note that the data are subject to privacy screening and fields that fail the privacy screen are withheld.

    The Modernising Energy Data Access (MEDA) competition was set up by Innovate UK and the Modernising Energy Data group to help develop the concept of a Common Data Architecture (CDA) for the Energy Sector. One of the main goals of the Common Data Architecture is to improve data sharing across the energy sector and make data more interoperable across organisations. Energy Consumption is one of the most sought after datasets needed by the organisations that we have worked with throughout a variety of the Modernising Energy Data projects, and although getting a household level of this information comes against GDPR challenges and is therefore non-accessible for the vast majority of organisations, breaking consumption down into smaller areas can be hugely beneficial for gaining insights into how energy is consumed within the UK. The list has been reviewed but errors may exist and the list may not be comprehensive. Errors in the souces e.g. press releases may be duplicated in the list. Blank spaces represent missing information. NREL invites input to improve the database including to - correct erroneous information - add missing projects - fill in missing information - remove inactive projects. Updated information can be submitted to Eric O'Shaughnessy at eric.oshaughnessy@nrel.gov.

Description

The NYSERDA-funded Integrated Energy Data Resource (IEDR) provides a single statewide platform to securely collect, integrate, analyze, and make accessible a large and diverse set of energy-related information from New York's electric, gas, and steam utilities and other sources. Useful access to useful energy data provided by the IEDR enables analyses that informs investment decisions, identifies operational inefficiencies, monitors the effectiveness of policy objectives, promotes innovation, and encourages new business models. The IEDR includes analytic tools to enable energy stakeholders to design and run useful queries and calculations that can operate across all data types in the IEDR. Those tools' number and functionality should increase over time to align with, and support the use cases, that become operational as part of the IEDR. Additionally, relational information that describes the relationships among the various data elements in the IEDR materially affects the depth potential of users' ability to find, analyze, and generate useful information. User access to the IEDR data and analytic tools will be governed by the access controls that reflect and align with each type of user's legitimate needs while preventing unwarranted access to information that does not serve those legitimate needs. Public, utility-managed, and commercial datasets processed by the platform and made available or planned to be made available to approved users in various forms include: • Feeder and sub-feeder hosting capacity • Installed and queued DER projects • Utility Rates and Tariffs • Customer billing and usage • Aggregated building usage • Disadvantaged Community Characteristics • Land, Parcel, and Terrain attributes The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) offers objective information and analysis, innovative programs, technical expertise, and support to help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, save money, use renewable energy, accelerate economic growth, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
