These tables show data from certificates lodged on the Energy Performance of Buildings Registers since 2008, including average energy efficiency ratings, energy use, carbon dioxide emissions, fuel costs, average floor area sizes and numbers of certificates recorded. All tables include data by regions.
Due to large file sizes some tables may take a while to download.

There were approximately 744,092 energy performance certificates (EPC) issued in Sweden in the decade leading up to April 2025. That last month, roughly 6,730 EPCs were issued. In the years following 2019, the number of EPCs issued decreased noticeably.
Information about certificates on the energy efficiency of domestic and non-domestic buildings in England and Wales that have been constructed, sold, or let since 2008, and of larger public authority buildings since 2008. These experimental statistics do not cover the entire building stock across England and Wales.
Figures are drawn from 2 datasets on the Energy Performance of Buildings Registers:
The release covers certificates lodged between 2008 and Q4, 2015, and breaks the data down for each specified calendar quarter (Q1=Jan-Mar, Q2=Apr-Jun, Q3=Jul-Sep, Q4=Oct-Dec) within each specified calendar year.
The Q4 2015 figures will change in subsequent quarterly publications as the EPB Registers are updated with new EPCs and DECs.
The data are presented as ‘Experimental’ official statistics because they are still subject to evaluation and testing. As ‘work-in-progress', they may not meet rigorous quality standards. They have been released because they have been judged to be of immediate value to interested parties and in order to encourage user feedback.

Energy assessor accreditation schemes originally had the choice of lodging the underlying data used to produce domestic EPCs, in addition to the actual PDF document itself. After September 2008, lodging the data became a mandatory requirement. Due to the technical difficulty involved in formatting PDFs into searchable data, the statistics do not include data lodged as a PDF document only.
These statistics cover certificates on the energy efficiency of domestic and non-domestic buildings in England and Wales that have been constructed, sold, or let since 2008, and of larger public authority buildings since 2008. These statistics, therefore, do not cover the entire building stock across England and Wales but should be viewed as part of a wider package of Government’s provision of information on the energy efficiency of buildings.
This data is also available in Table LA1, available for download as an MS Excel Spreadsheet.

We performed systematic mapping of EPC data applications by time, geographical spread, data features & auxiliary data used, problem domains addressed and complexity of employed data analysis. This mapping work was intended to answer the following questions: Q1. Which research studies have used EPC data (hereafter “applications”)? Q2. What input data were used by the EPC data applications? Q3. Which problem domains were addressed by the EPC data applications? Q4. How did the EPC data applications change within the study period?
Purpose:
To understand how the energy performance certificates (EPC) data has been used since introduction of the first national EPC registers.
All Dwellings: Number of Domestic Energy Performance Certificates lodged on the Register, in each Local Authority, by Environmental Impact Rating. between 2008 and Q4 2015.

This release presents official statistics on energy performance of buildings cerificates in England and Wales, including energy efficiency ratings, environmental impact ratings, energy usage, costs and emissions of dwellings and non-dwellings. The statistics will derive from two datasets - Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Display Energy Certificates (DECs). Number of Domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) lodged on the Register, in each Local Authority, by Energy Efficiency Rating (fuel cost) or Environmental Impact Rating (Carbon Dioxide emissions), in each Year/Quarter. Floor area data is broken down by property type. Type of property is broken down into Bungalow, House, Flat, or Maisonette.
These tables show data from certificates lodged on the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPB) Registers since 2008, including average energy efficiency ratings, energy use, carbon dioxide emissions, fuel costs, average floor area sizes and numbers of certificates recorded.
Data lodged on the EPB Registers record information about the certificates issued for buildings which have been newly constructed, sold or let since 2008. Data lodged on the EPB Registers will also include buildings for which multiple EPCs have been issued.
On 1 April 2012, the first set of Scheme Operating Requirements came into effect for Domestic Energy Assessors, which set new rules for the operation of Accreditation Schemes. One new requirement was to introduce quality assurance audit of EPCs. The result was a demonstrable improvement in the quality of data lodged on the EPB Registers from mid-2012 onwards. Users are asked to consider this when interpreting figures prior to that period. In May 2009, additional validation checks were introduced into the register lodgement process to identify prescribed data quality issues. Before this period, statistics for domestic buildings may include anomalies to CO2 emission rates. In addition, statistics for domestic and non-domestic buildings and for DECs may include anomalies which affect total floor area figures.

In 2020, DMRE gazetted a national legislation: Regulations for the Mandatory Display and Submission of Energy Performance Certificates for Buildings. This meant that all buildings that meet the criteria set out in the regulation are required to publically display an EPC at the entrance of a building by December 2025. The City has issued and publically displayed 69 EPCs at the entrance of the buildings. The dataset provides in depth data on energy consumption per building (eg. electricity, LPG, diesel etc. if available), gross floor area, net floor area which has been specifically used to determine the energy performance of each building. Although some of the energy and gross floor area exists from facilities that are smart metered and on SmartFacility, many of the facilities in this dataset are not on SmartFacility, thus the data can be regarded as relatively new for specific facilities. Weekly number of Energy Performance Building Certificates for new and existing domestic properties in England and Wales. These are official statistics in development.
This dataset contains information from Energy Performance Certificates and Display Energy Certificates for buildings in England and Wales
The requirement for energy certificates for buildings flows from the EU Directive on the energy performance of buildings. The principle underlying the requirements of the EU Directive on the energy performance of buildings is to make the energy efficiency of buildings transparent through the provision of energy certificates and to show how the energy efficiency of the building can be improved.
There were 162,150 energy performance certificates (EPC) issued in Norway in 2024. That figure was over twice higher than the number of EPCs issued the previous year. Most of the certificates issued between 2009 and 2024 were for residential buildings. Over a quarter of EPCs in Norway had an energy rating of G.

Electronic Register containing all data in relation to Energy Performance Certificates that have been prepared for both new build and existing non-domestic buildings, Display Energy Certificates for public buildings and Air Conditioning Inspection Reports for air conditioning installations that exceed 12kwh in England and Wales. EPCs for non-domestic buildings are prepared using Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) or an approved Dynamic Simulation Model (DSM), DECs are prepared using the Operational Rating Calculation Methodology (ORCalc) and Air Conditioning Reports are prepared using an approved Air Conditioning Software package
