The boundaries available are: (BFC) Full resolution - clipped to the coastline (Mean High Water mark). Contains both Ordnance Survey and ONS Intellectual Property Rights. These were created by Justin Hayes' team at Salford universityThe boundary data have been released alongside our 1961 Census Small Area Statistics which are being treated as a beta product in order that we can obtain feedback from users on all aspects of the data, including the boundary work, as this is the first historic Census digitisation product that Census Historical Research has released.REST URL of ArcGIS for INSPIRE View Service – https://services1.arcgis.com/ESMARspQHYMw9BZ9/arcgis/rest/services/Countries_(Dec_1961)_in_England_and_Wales_BFC_Boundaries/MapServerREST URL of ArcGIS for INSPIRE Feature DownloadService – https://dservices1.arcgis.com/ESMARspQHYMw9BZ9/arcgis/services/Countries_Dec_1961_in_England_and_Wales_BFC_Boundaries/WFSServer?service=wfs&request=getcapabilitiesREST URL of Feature Access Service – https://services1.arcgis.com/ESMARspQHYMw9BZ9/arcgis/rest/services/Countries_Dec_1961_in_England_and_Wales_BFC_Boundaries_2022/FeatureServer

TwitterThe dataset contains Local Authority Boundaries for Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) as of December 2021. A total of 363 Local Authority objects are included. Created for future use in folium choropleth maps when combined with other datasets that contain the matching Local Authority Codes. Additionally, subsets were created for convenience holding the boundaries of local authorities in England and Wales together, and in each individual country, i.e., England, Scotland and Wales on their own.
The original dataset was downloaded from ONS. Since the dataset was too large for most use cases (129.4MB) due to the level of detail, it was simplified with https://mapshaper.org/ using the default method (Visvalingam / weighted area) with 'prevent shape removal' enabled. The simplification was set to 1.4%, followed by intersection repair and export back to geojson. The shape coordinates were originally in British National Grid (BNG) format, which had to be converted to WGS84 (latitude and longitude) format. Finally, the coordinates were rounded to 6 decimal places, resulting in a file containing 2.2MB of uncompressed data with a sensible level of detail. The individual country data were extracted, based on the LAD21CD property, to create the additional files.

TwitterThe value of transactions involving UK credit cards outside the country was around *3 billion U.S. dollars less than the same transactions involving debit cards. This is according to domestic central bank information, either from a domestic survey or requested from local card issuers. These figures were then gathered by Statista and converted into U.S. dollars to allow comparisons between different countries. Card breakdowns are not available in all countries, oftentimes relying on survey information and largely focusing on retail payments. For example, almost **** in ten digital buyers in the UK buy online from abroad.

This release replaces the previous annual and quarterly publications Control of Immigration Statistics and the annual British Citizenship, following a public consultation. Each topic now has its own entry, links to these related reports can be found under the "additional links" section. When someone applies for asylum, they are applying for protection from persecution or fear of persecution in their own country. The UK Border Agency then decides whether the application is legitimate. One person (the main applicant) can apply for asylum on behalf of themselves and others (dependants).

TwitterThe geoBoundaries Global Database of Political Administrative Boundaries Database is an online, open license resource of boundaries (i.e., state, county) for every country in the world. Currently 199 total entities are tracked, including all 195 UN member states, Greenland, Taiwan, Niue, and Kosovo. Comprehensive Global Administrative Zones (CGAZ) is a set of global composites for administrative boundaries. Disputed areas are removed and replaced with polygons following US Department of State definitions. It has three boundary levels ADM0, ADM1, and ADM2, clipped to international boundaries (US Department of State), with gaps filled between borders. This dataset is part of CGAZ. It was ingested from version 6.0.0 of Global Composite Files with DBF_DATE_LAST_UPDATE=2023-09-13. It shows boundaries at level ADM0 (country-level boundaries).

TwitterThe United States Office of the Geographer provides the Large Scale International Boundary (LSIB) dataset. The detailed version (2013) is derived from two other datasets: a LSIB line vector file and the World Vector Shorelines (WVS) from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). The interior boundaries reflect U.S. government policies on boundaries, boundary disputes, and sovereignty. The exterior boundaries are derived from the WVS; however, the WVS coastline data is outdated and generally shifted from between several hundred meters to over a kilometer. Each feature is the polygonal area enclosed by interior boundaries and exterior coastlines where applicable, and many countries consist of multiple features, one per disjoint region. Compared with the detailed LSIB, in this simplified dataset some disjointed regions of each country have been reduced to a single feature. Furthermore, it excludes medium and smaller islands. The resulting simplified boundary lines are rarely shifted by more than 100 meters from the detailed LSIB lines. Each of the 312 features is a part of the geometry of one of the 284 countries described in this dataset.

This briefing generally refers to total numbers of people, including dependants, removed and departing voluntarily, which are referred to here as ‘departing’. While individuals removed at port have not necessarily entered the country, their removal requires action by UK Border Agency, such as being placed on a return flight, and are therefore included unless stated otherwise.
