Environment Information System: Real Property Module (Structure) is a table that can be access on our TC Intranet Application, EIS. It holds pertinent information pertaining to a real property asset owned, or formerly owned, by Transport Canada. Structure records within this table can be reportable or non-reportable to the Directory of Federal Real Property (DFRP). Further, structures may be active or inactive within the inventory but not reported to the DFRP as a result of it not meeting TBS requirements. Moreover, some structures are active, and not reportable, as a result of Transport Canada administrative purposes (CPA Properties, FBCL, etc).

The delimited ISU5 areas are closely related to the map of the "Statistical Blocks of the RBS", but differ from it in the block delimitation from the street area, in the formation of spatial units below the block level, the so-called block sub-areas, and from street areas. These areas form the spatial reference of the Berlin Environmental Atlas every five years, current status as of December 31, 2020.

The Environmental Information Management System (EIM) is the Department of Ecology's main database for environmental monitoring data. EIM contains records on physical, chemical, and biological analyses and measurements. Supplementary information about the data (metadata) is also stored, including information about environmental studies, monitoring locations, and data quality. Data in EIM is collected by Ecology or on behalf of Ecology by environmental contractors - and by Ecology grant recipients, local governments, and volunteers. EIM Locations is a point feature service representing the monitoring locations from EIM. The locations consist of both surface locations for monitoring air, water, and habitat and wells for monitoring ground water. This feature service queries directly the EIM publication database which is updated nightly from the production transactional database.

The Marine Geoportal EMIS relies on biological and physical variables generated from both hydrodynamic models and satellite remote sensing. A number of these variables and advanced products are available as raster datasets to the scientific and environmental managerial community through various tools (GIS Viewer, EMIS-R, Marine Analyst, Maps) which enable the user to conduct regional assessments. The Environmental Information System (EIS) category summarizes the project results reports of each commissioned project by the Ministry of the Environment.

The purpose of ICIS is to meet evolving Enforcement and Compliance business needs for EPA and State users by integrating information into a single integrated data system that supports both management and programmatic requirements of the Enforcement and Compliance programs.

This collection comprises the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) data for various regions in U.S. coastal waters. ESI data characterize estuarine environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. This atlas was developed to be utilized within desktop GIS systems and contains GIS files and related D-base files. Associated files include MOSS (Multiple Overlay Statistical System) export files, .PDF maps, and detailed user guides and metadata.

The Facility Registry Service (FRS) provides quality facility data to support EPA's mission of protecting human health and the environment by identifying and geospatially locating facilities, sites, or places subject to environmental regulations of environmental interest. Facility data is improved with geospatial processing of incoming data and data curation tools to provide an integrated, dataset to partners and the public through a variety of methods and products. For more detailed information about these facilities, use the FRS Query tool.This layer provides location and facility information for sites regulated under the Integrated Compliance Information System Federal Enforcement and Compliance (ICIS FE&C). The ICIS databases provide information on companies which have been issued permits to discharge wastewater into rivers. ICIS FE&C contains all Federal Administrative and Judicial enforcement actions and a subset of the Permit Compliance System (PCS), which supports the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). The ArcGIS Pro Permitting and Environmental Information Tool (APPEIT) Project Package includes all of the layers that are in the NTIA Permitting and Environmental Information Application as well as the APPEIT Tool which will allow users to input a project area and determine what layers from the application overlap with it. An overview of the project package and the APPEIT tool is provided below.

Project Package Overview

This map package includes all of the layers from the NTIA Permitting and Environmental Information Application. The layers included are all feature services from various Federal and State agencies. The map package was created with ArcGIS Pro 3.4.0. The map package was created to allow users easy access to all feature services including symbology. The map package will allow users to avoid downloading datasets individually and easily incorporate into their own GIS system. The map package includes three maps.

1. Permitting and Environmental Information Application Layers for GIS Analysis - This map includes all of the map tabs shown in the application, except State Data which is provided in another tab. This map includes feature services that can be used for analysis with other project layers such as a route or project area.

2. Permitting and Environmental Information Application Layers – For Reference Only - This map includes layers that cannot be used for analysis since they are either imagery or tile layers.

3. State Data - Reference Only - This map includes all relevant state data that is shown in the application.

The NTIA Permitting and Environmental Information Application was created to help with your permitting planning and environmental review preparation efforts by providing access to multiple maps from publicly available sources, including federal review, permitting, and resource agencies. The application should be used for informational purposes only and is intended solely to assist users with preliminary identification of areas that may require permits or planning to avoid potentially significant impacts to environmental resources subject to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other statutory requirements. Multiple maps are provided in the application which are created from public sources. This application does not have an exhaustive list of everything you need for permitting or environmental review for a project but is an initial starting point to see what might be required.

APPEIT Tool OverviewThe Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is providing the ArcGIS Pro Permitting and Environmental Information Tool (APPEIT) to help federal broadband grant recipients and subgrantees identify permits and environmental factors as they plan routes for their broadband deployments. Identifying permit requirements early, initiating pre-application coordination with permitting agencies, and avoiding environmental impacts help drive successful infrastructure projects. NTIA’s public release of the APPEIT tool supports government-wide efforts to improve permitting and explore how online and digital technologies can promote efficient environmental reviews.

This Esri ArcGIS Pro tool is included in the map package and was created to support permitting, planning, and environmental review preparation efforts by providing access to data layers from publicly available sources, including federal review, permitting, and resource agencies. An SOP on how to use the tool is available here. For the full list of APPEIT layers, see Appendix Table 1 in the SOP. The tool is comprised of an ArcGIS Pro Project containing a custom ArcGIS Toolbox tool, linked web map shared by the NTIA’s National Broadband Map (NBAM), a report template, and a Tasks item to guide users through using the tool. This ArcGIS Pro project and its contents (maps and data) are consolidated into this (.ppkx) project file.

To use APPEIT, users will input a project area boundary or project route line in a shapefile or feature class format. The tool will return as a CSV and PDF report that lists any federal layers from the ArcGIS Pro Permitting and Environmental Information Web Map that intersect the project. Users may only input a single project area or line at a time; multiple projects or project segments will need to be screened separately. For project route lines, users are required to specify a buffer distance. The buffer distance that is used for broadband projects should be determined by the area of anticipated impact and should generally not exceed 500 feet. For example, the State of Maryland recommends a 100-foot buffer for broadband permitting. The tool restricts buffers to two miles to ensure relevant results.

The Water Quality Portal (WQP) is a cooperative service sponsored by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the National Water Quality Monitoring Council (NWQMC). It serves data collected by over 400 state, federal, tribal, and local agencies. Water quality data can be downloaded in Excel, CSV, TSV, and KML formats. Fourteen site types are found in the WQP: aggregate groundwater use, aggregate surface water use, atmosphere, estuary, facility, glacier, lake, land, ocean, spring, stream, subsurface, well, and wetland. Water quality characteristic groups include physical conditions, chemical and bacteriological water analyses, chemical analyses of fish tissue, taxon abundance data, toxicity data, habitat assessment scores, and biological index scores, among others. Within these groups, thousands of water quality variables registered in the EPA Substance Registry Service (https://iaspub.epa.gov/sor_internet/registry/substreg/home/overview/home.do) and the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (https://www.itis.gov/) are represented. Across all site types, physical characteristics (e.g., temperature and water level) are the most common water quality result type in the system. The Water Quality Exchange data model (WQX; http://www.exchangenetwork.net/data-exchange/wqx/), initially developed by the Environmental Information Exchange Network, was adapted by EPA to support submission of water quality records to the EPA STORET Data Warehouse [USEPA, 2016], and has subsequently become the standard data model for the WQP. Contributing organizations: ACWI The Advisory Committee on Water Information (ACWI) represents the interests of water information users and professionals in advising the federal government on federal water information programs and their effectiveness in meeting the nation's water information needs. ARS The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's chief in-house scientific research agency, whose job is finding solutions to agricultural problems that affect Americans every day, from field to table. ARS conducts research to develop and transfer solutions to agricultural problems of high national priority and provide information access and dissemination to, among other topics, enhance the natural resource base and the environment. Water quality data from STEWARDS, the primary database for the USDA/ARS Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP) are ingested into WQP via a web service. EPA The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) gathers and distributes water quality monitoring data collected by states, tribes, watershed groups, other federal agencies, volunteer groups, and universities through the Water Quality Exchange framework in the STORET Warehouse. NWQMC The National Water Quality Monitoring Council (NWQMC) provides a national forum for coordination of comparable and scientifically defensible methods and strategies to improve water quality monitoring, assessment, and reporting. It also promotes partnerships to foster collaboration, advance the science, and improve management within all elements of the water quality monitoring community. USGS The United States Geological Survey (USGS) investigates the occurrence, quantity, quality, distribution, and movement of surface waters and ground waters and disseminates the data to the public, state, and local governments, public and private utilities, and other federal agencies involved with managing the United States' water resources.
