    Description

This is the data from the Estates Returns Information Collection (ERIC) which is a mandatory collection for all NHS Trusts including Ambulance Trusts. It collects information relating to the costs of providing and maintaining the NHS Estate including such things as building, maintaining and equipping hospitals, the provision of services such as cleaning, laundry, food and portering and the consumption and associated costs of utilities. Note: The publication report has been amended to make the following changes to correct administrative errors:-. Page 16 - the total 2014/15 expenditure has been amended to correct a rounding error; Page 16 - the label in Table 7 has been amended from £billions to £millions; Page 31 - the label in Table 21 has been amended from £millions to £thousands. The figurers and percentages in the publication report have been amended in the following areas to correct errors caused by late un-authorised and un-notified amendment of data by one NHS Trust:- Page 18 - total energy costs for 2014/15; Page 20 -Gas, Electricity and Oil consumption figures for 2014/15; Page 22 - water and sewage costs 2014/15; Page 23 - annual gross cost of inpatient food services 2014/15; Page 25 - total inpatient meals requested 2014/15; Page 26 - total car parking spaces available 2014/15; Page 27 - total disabled car parking spaces available 2014/15; Page 28 - cleaning serviced costs 2014/15; Page 29 - number of cleaning staff 2014/15; Page 30 - linen and laundry items laundered and costs 2014/15; Page 31 - income from areas leased for retail 2014/15. Note: Since these figures were published two Trusts - East London NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have reported to the Health and Social Care Information Centre that the figures they submitted in relation to Patient Taxi Costs were incorrect and this affects the total figure by £5,128,570.05. Revised figures were published on November 22nd 2016; users should ensure they use v2 of the Excel and .csv files and should continue to treat patient taxi figures with caution. Note: in 2019 we were advised of an error in Devonshire Partnership NHS Trust's submitted Oil Consumption figures. The correct figure for the aggregate site consumption is 35,729.3 kWh, rather than the reported 3,376 kWh.

    Description

The ERIC (Estates Return Information Collection) is collected and published here by the HSCIC on behalf of the Department of Health. It is the main central data collection for estates and facilities services from the NHS containing information dating back to 1999/2000 and will be added to as future returns are completed. The data provided enables the analysis of Estates & Facilities information from NHS Trusts and PCTs in England which is a compulsory requirement that NHS Trusts submit an Estates Return. The data is as provided by reporting organisations and has not been amended. The accuracy and completeness is the responsibility of the reporting organisations.

This dataset is at trust-level. To obtain a complete picture, site-level data should also be accessed (see additional links). Note that trust-level data is a different collection to site-level, rather than site-level totals.

    Description

The Estates Return Information Collection (ERIC) contains information relating to the costs of providing, maintaining, and servicing the NHS estate. It provides essential information relating to its safety, quality, running costs and activity, and also supports work to improve efficiency. Since 2015 NHS Digital has published formal analysis and reporting on its website (see links below); prior to this results were disseminated via the Hospital Estates and Facilities (HEFS) website, which is now closed. This page makes available historical data back to 1999/2000. Files are available at trust and site level, and accompanying data definitions are provided for each year. It is important for data users to familiarise themselves with the data definitions for the year(s) they wish to examine, as these vary considerably; fields with the same title are not necessarily comparable across time. Please note that all data are as provided by NHS trusts, and accuracy and completeness are entirely the responsibility of the reporting organisations.

Description

ObjectiveTo describe the real-world use of adalimumab for maintenance treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) and associated healthcare costs in English hospitals.DesignRetrospective cohort study.SettingAnalysis of NHS Hospital Episode Statistics linked with pharmacy dispensing data in English hospitals.PatientsAdult UC patients receiving ≥240mg during adalimumab treatment induction, subsequently maintained on adalimumab.OutcomesFrequency and pattern of adalimumab use and dose escalation during maintenance treatment and associated healthcare costs (prescriptions and hospital visits).Results191 UC patients completed adalimumab treatment induction. 83 (43.46%) dose escalated during maintenance treatment by ≥100% (equivalent to weekly dosing) (median time to dose escalation: 139 days). 56 patients (67.47%) subsequently de-escalated by ≥50% (median time to dose de-escalation: 21 days). Mean all-cause healthcare costs for all patients ≤12 months of index were £13,892. Dose escalators incurred greater mean healthcare costs than non-escalators ≤12 months of index (£14,596 vs. £13,351). Prescriptions accounted for 96.49% of UC-related healthcare costs (£11,090 of £11,494 in all patients).ConclusionsWithin the cohort, 43.46% of UC patients escalated their adalimumab dose by ≥100% and incurred greater costs than non-escalators. The apparent underestimation of adalimumab dose escalation in previous studies may have resulted in underestimated costs in healthcare systems.
