Geostrat Report – The Sequence Stratigraphy and Sandstone Play Fairways of the Late Jurassic Humber Group of the UK Central Graben

This non-exclusive report was purchased by the OGA from Geostrat as part of the Data Purchase tender process (TRN097012017) that was carried out during Q1 2017. The contents do not necessarily reflect the technical view of the OGA but the report is being published in the interests of making additional sources of data and interpretation available for use by the wider industry and academic communities.

The Geostrat report provides stratigraphic analyses and interpretations of data from the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous Humber Group across the UK Central Graben and includes a series of depositional sequence maps for eight stratigraphic intervals. Stratigraphic interpretations and tops from 189 wells (up to Release 91) are also included in the report.

The outputs as published here include a full PDF report, ODM/IC .dat format sequence maps, and all stratigraphic tops (lithostratigraphy, ages, sequence stratigraphy) in .csv format (for import into different interpretation platforms).

In addition, the OGA has undertaken to provide the well tops, stratigraphic interpretations and sequence maps in an ESRI ArcGIS format that is intended to facilitate the integration of these data into projects and data storage systems held by individual organisations. As part of this process, the Geostrat well names have been matched as far as possible to the OGA well names from the OGA Offshore Wells shapefile (as provided on the OGA’s Open Data website) and the original polygon files have been incorporated into an ArcGIS project. All the files within the GIS folder of this delivery have been created by the OGA. OGA web feature services (WFSs) have been included in the map document in this delivery. They replace the use of a shapefile or feature class to represent block, licence and quadrant data. By using a WFS, the data is automatically updated when it becomes available via the OGA.

A version of this delivery containing shapefiles for well tops, stratigraphic interpretations and sequence maps is available on the OGA’s Open Data website for use in other GIS software packages.

All releases included in the Data Purchase tender process that have been made openly available are summarised in a mapping application available from the OGA website. The application includes an area of interest outline for each of the products and an overview of which wellbores have been included in the products.

    Description

The World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA) is the most comprehensive global database of marine and terrestrial protected areas, updated on a monthly basis, and is one of the key global biodiversity data sets being widely used by scientists, businesses, governments, International secretariats and others to inform planning, policy decisions and management. The WDPA is a joint project between UN Environment and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The compilation and management of the WDPA is carried out by UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), in collaboration with governments, non-governmental organisations, academia and industry. There are monthly updates of the data which are made available online through the Protected Planet website where the data is both viewable and downloadable.Data and information on the world's protected areas compiled in the WDPA are used for reporting to the Convention on Biological Diversity on progress towards reaching the Aichi Biodiversity Targets (particularly Target 11), to the UN to track progress towards the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, to some of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) core indicators, and other international assessments and reports including the Global Biodiversity Outlook, as well as for the publication of the United Nations List of Protected Areas. Every two years, UNEP-WCMC releases the Protected Planet Report on the status of the world's protected areas and recommendations on how to meet international goals and targets. Many platforms are incorporating the WDPA to provide integrated information to diverse users, including businesses and governments, in a range of sectors including mining, oil and gas, and finance. For example, the WDPA is included in the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool, an innovative decision support tool that gives users easy access to up-to-date information that allows them to identify biodiversity risks and opportunities within a project boundary. The reach of the WDPA is further enhanced in services developed by other parties, such as the Global Forest Watch and the Digital Observatory for Protected Areas, which provide decision makers with access to monitoring and alert systems that allow whole landscapes to be managed better. Together, these applications of the WDPA demonstrate the growing value and significance of the Protected Planet initiative.Community Protected Areas query:All of these expressions must be true:Status is 'Inscribed' orStatus is 'Established' orStatus is 'Designated'andGovernace Type is 'Local communities' orGovernace Type is 'Indigenous peoples'

    Description

The downloadable ZIP file contains an Esri File Geodatabases, Esri grids, and PDFs. Statewide Forest Resource Strategy ReportState Assessment of Forest Resources ReportIdaho State Assessment of Forest Resources - Priority AreasThe Statewide Assessment of Forest Resources (SAFR) is a geospatial analysis of forest conditions and trends in Idaho. The Idaho SAFR identifies seven main issues affecting Idaho forestlands (threats and potential benefits). Potential threats to forests include forest health decline, uncharacteristic wildfire, development pressure and recreation in undesignated areas. Potential benefits include sustainable wood-based forest resource markets, water quality & quantity, air quality, and wildlife habitat and biodiversity. A series of sub-issue datasets inform each of the primary issues. Together, statewide data and local knowledge identified areas in Idaho where these threats and benefits pointed to the highest need for investment and work. These areas of multiple high priority concerns and potential benefits were designated as Priority Landscape Areas (PLAs) and include urban, rural, and wildland urban-interface (WUI) lands. Note that the SAFR utilized the best available statewide data. Because the SAFR is statewide in scale, it does not identify every area in which an issue may be found. Local geospatial data may present a different characterization of the issues. The SAFR report describes each issue, the sub-issues each was comprised of, the data used and how it was modeled, and data considered but not used and why. In addition to the Idaho State Forest Resource Assessment report, information on the development of the SAFR, including meeting minutes, interim reports and more can be found on the SAFR website at: www.idl.idaho.gov/bureau/ForestAssist/safr_index.html. Geospatial data for the seven primary issues, the composite threats, composite benefits, final assessment map and priority landscape areas are also available on INSIDE Idaho. These data were contributed to INSIDE Idaho at the University of Idaho Library in 2011.
