This SFR also publishes the results of exams taken during the 2016 to 2017 academic year by all 16- to 18-year-olds.
We published provisional figures for the 2016 to 2017 academic year in October 2017. The revised SFR provides an update to the provisional figures. The revised figures incorporate the small number of amendments that awarding organisations, schools or colleges and local authorities submitted to the department after August 2017.
Following the main release of the 16 to 18 headline measures published on 25 January 2017, we published additional information about the retention measure and the completion and attainment measure on 15 March 2017. Information about minimum standards on tech level qualifications is also published in this additional release.

Interested parties can now request extracts of data from the NPD using an improved application process accessed through the following website; GOV.UK The first version of the NPD, including information from the first pupil level School Census matched to attainment information, was produced in 2002. The NPD is one of the richest education datasets in the world holding a wide range of information about pupils and students and has provided invaluable evidence on educational performance to inform independent research, as well as analysis carried out or commissioned by the department. There are a range of data sources in the NPD providing information about children’s education at different phases. The data includes detailed information about pupils’ test and exam results, prior attainment and progression at each key stage for all state schools in England. The department also holds attainment data for pupils and students in non-maintained special schools, sixth form and further education colleges and (where available) independent schools. The NPD also includes information about the characteristics of pupils in the state sector and non-maintained special schools such as their gender, ethnicity, first language, eligibility for free school meals, awarding of bursary funding for 16-19 year olds, information about special educational needs and detailed information about any absences and exclusions. Extracts of the data from NPD can be shared (under strict terms and conditions) with named bodies and third parties who, for the purpose of promoting the education or well-being of children in England, are:- • Conducting research or analysis • Producing statistics; or • Providing information, advice or guidance. The department wants to encourage more third parties to use the data for these purposes and produce secondary analysis of the data. All applications go through a robust approval process and those granted access are subject to strict terms and conditions on the security, handling and use of the data, including compliance with the Data Protection Act. Anyone requesting access to the most sensitive data will also be required to submit a business case. Unlike Key Stage 4, there is no exclusion of pupils recently arrived from overseas from the local and regional averages.

OverviewWater companies in the UK are responsible for testing the quality of drinking water. This dataset contains the results of samples taken from the taps in domestic households to make sure they meet the standards set out by UK and European legislation. The following geographical aggregations were discussed: • Water Supply Zone (WSZ) - Limits interoperability with other datasets • Postcode – Some postcodes contain very few households and may not offer necessary anonymisation • Postal Sector – Deemed not granular enough in highly populated areas • Rounded Co-ordinates – Not a recognised standard and may cause overlapping areas • MSOA – Deemed not granular enough • LSOA – Agreed as a recognised standard appropriate for England and Wales • Data Zones – Agreed as a recognised standard appropriate for Scotland Data Triage Review Frequency Annually unless otherwise requested Publish FrequencyAnnuallyData Specifications • Each dataset will cover a year of samples in calendar year • This dataset will be published annually • Historical datasets will be published as far back as 2016 from the introduction of The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 • The determinands included in the dataset are as per the list that is required to be reported to the Drinking Water Inspectorate. • A small proportion of samples could not be allocated to an LSOA – these represented less than 0.1% of samples and were removed from the dataset in 2023. • The postcode to LSOA lookup table used for 2022 was not available when 2023 data was processed, see supplementary information for the lookup table applied to each calendar year of data. Context Many UK water companies provide a search tool on their websites where you can search for water quality in your area by postcode. The results of the search may identify the water supply zone that supplies the postcode searched. Water supply zones are not linked to LSOAs which means the results may differ to this dataset. Some sample results are influenced by internal plumbing and may not be representative of drinking water quality in the wider area.
