Combined stormwater flooding results for WCC for a 1yrARI event including climate change. Includes the following catchments: Owhiro Bay, Horokiwi, Haitaitai & Kilbirnie, Karori, Roseneath, Island Bay, Lyall Bay, Southern CBD, Tawa, Johnsonville, Khandallah, &MiramarPurpose:Wellington City Council and Wellington Water are working together to create an updated flood hazard map for Wellington catchments. The main purpose of a flood hazard map is to provide up-to-date information to the community. It takes into account sea level rise and increased rainfall caused by climate change and will help people better prepare for existing flood risks and avoid inappropriate building in floodplains. The flood hazard map gives you the opportunity to see what your suburb would look like in a once in 10 year flood and a once in 50-100 year flood. The flood hazard maps, once verified, will appear in District Plans, will be available on LIMs, and will be a key document in the consents process. Current flood plans are available through the Council website. They’ve been completed to best practice standards and have been peer-reviewed by an external independent party.Data DetailsVertical Datum: 1953 Wellington City Vertical Datum.Coordinate System: NZGD 2000 New Zealand Transverse MercatorSmoothed Flood Modelling Results categorised into the following depth bands:0.05 – 0.10 m0.10 – 0.25 m0.25 – 0.50 m0.50 – 1.00 m> 1.00mData TraceabilityGIS data published by: Modelling Team (Rebecca Buchanan) 17-06-2020Original smoothed layers created by: Jacobs (Keith Hastings)11-06-2020Modifications:08-07-2020: Added Khandallah and Miramar(Published Referenced map service on 3rd Feb 2021, Chrissy)For any questions please contact Wellington Water

    Measurement technique
The data presented in this dataset is derived from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. It delineates income distributions across four age groups (Under 25 years, 25 to 44 years, 45 to 64 years, and 65 years and over) following an initial analysis and categorization. Subsequently, we adjusted these figures for inflation using the Consumer Price Index retroactive series via current methods (R-CPI-U-RS). About this dataset

    Context

The dataset presents the distribution of median household income among distinct age brackets of householders in Wellington. Based on the latest 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates from the American Community Survey, it displays how income varies among householders of different ages in Wellington. It showcases how household incomes typically rise as the head of the household gets older. The dataset can be utilized to gain insights into age-based household income trends and explore the variations in incomes across households.

The landscapes and features identified by Boffa Miskell will form two overlays in the new District Plan – one overlay for Outstanding Natural Features and Landscapes and another overlay for Special Amenity Landscapes. Currently District Plan is being reviewed; both Outstanding Natural Features / Landscapes and Special Amenity Landscapes will be protected with appropriate policies as outlined in the Resource Management Act (1991) and the Regional Policy Statement (2013). The Wellington City Landscape Evaluation, by Boffa Miskell, was commissioned by Wellington City Council (WCC) to inform the development of measures for the long-term management of the City’s landscapes in our District Plan. The evaluation identifies and maps landscapes as required by the Regional Policy Statement for the Wellington Region (RPS). Landscapes and features are categorised as either outstanding natural landscapes (ONLs) outstanding natural features (ONFs) or special amenity landscapes (SALs). ONLs are natural landscapes that are exceptional with natural components that dominate over the influence of human activity. ONFs are discrete natural features that sit independently from or within an ONL. They are both assessed as part of a landscape evaluation process, considering factors such as natural science, sensory elements, and the shared and recognised values of these areas. An SAL is assessed as part of a landscape evaluation process, considering factors such as natural science, sensory elements, and the shared and recognised values of these areas. An SAL does not meet the threshold for an ONF or ONL but still achieves a high rating against these criteria. These landscapes are distinctive, widely recognised and highly valued by the community for their contribution to the amenity and quality of the environment of the city. Building on the 2014 Landscape Character Description (Boffa Miskell Ltd, 2014) that describes the non-urban parts of Wellington City landscapes, the evaluation assesses the attributes that make them valued in terms of the RPS and Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA). The evaluation considers landscapes and features that are highly valued for ecological, sensory, and aesthetic characteristics and their contribution to community identity. WCC commissioned Boffa Miskell Ltd to undertake the evaluation. In August 2019, the Place Planning team began engagement with members of the public whose property boundaries overlapped with an outstanding landscape boundary as part of the Backyard Taonga project. In March 2020, the Place Planning team began consultation on the Draft Spatial Plan as a precursor for a full District Plan review. For more information contact the Backyard Taonga project team by email: backyardtaonga@wcc.govt.nz or visit our website: https://planningforgrowth.wellington.govt.nz/about/backyard-taonga Evaluation Factors: Value – Description 0 – No data 1 – Moderate 2 – Moderate High 3 – High 4 – Very High

    Measurement technique
The data presented in this dataset is derived from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2018-2022 5-Year Estimates.
