    EarthExplorerUse the USGS EarthExplorer (EE) to search, download, and order satellite images, aerial photographs, and cartographic products. In addition to data from the Landsat missions and a variety of other data providers, EE provides access to MODIS land data products from the NASA Terra and Aqua missions, and ASTER level-1B data products over the U.S. and Territories from the NASA ASTER mission. Registered users of EE have access to more features than guest users.Earth Explorer Distribution DownloadThe EarthExplorer user interface is an online search, discovery, and ordering tool developed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). EarthExplorer supports the searching of satellite, aircraft, and other remote sensing inventories through interactive and textual-based query capabilities. Through the interface, users can identify search areas, datasets, and display metadata, browse and integrated visual services within the interface.The distributable version of EarthExplorer provides the basic software to provide this functionality. Users are responsible for verification of system recommendations for hosting the application on your own servers. By default, this version of our code is not hooked up to a data source so you will have to integrate the interface with your data. Integration options include service-based API's, databases, and anything else that stores data. To integrate with a data source simply replace the contents of the 'getDataset' and 'search' functions in the CWIC.php file.Distribution is being provided due to users requests for the codebase. The EarthExplorer source code is provided "As Is", without a warranty or support of any kind. The software is in the public domain; it is available to any government or private institution.The software code base is managed through the USGS Configuration Management Board.     Description

    The California Natural Resources Agency’s Access for All Initiative and 30x30 set a goal of equitable access for all to the state’s natural and open spaces. This dashboard helps illustrate the current challenges and highlights opportunities.

    The Access Explorer shows statewide measures of the population living within a half mile of any open space such as a park with public access contained within the Conserved Areas database, whether it meets the 30x30 definition of conserved or not.

    You can then compare those measures to areas that meet the 30x30 definition or to the population overall.

    The Access Explorer is a work in progress. Enhancements will be informed by an Outdoors for All roadmap due out in early 2023.

    The demographics were compiled from 'https://doc.arcgis.com/en/esri-demographics/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow ugc noopener noreferrer'>ESRI Demographics in March 2022.

    This web map contains the same layers as the Imagery with Labels basemap that is available in the basemap gallery of ArcGIS.com's map viewer, ArcGIS Explorer Online, ArcGIS Explorer Desktop, and the mobile clients. The Imagery with Labels basemap contains the World Imagery map service with the Boundaries and Places map service drawn on top. When you use this basemap in a web map, any map services that you add into the map get sandwiched between the imagery and the labels drawn on top, so this is a good basemap you use if you want to see services that don't contain their own labels with imagery drawn behind them and reference labels drawn on top.This web map also includes the World Transportation map service. This service shows streets, roads and highways and their names.     Description

    The ArcGIS Online US Geological Survey (USGS) topographic map collection now contains over 177,000 historical quadrangle maps dating from 1882 to 2006. The USGS Historical Topographic Map Explorer app brings these maps to life through an interface that guides users through the steps for exploring the map collection:

    • Find a location of interest.
    • View the maps.
    • Compare the maps.
    • Download and share the maps or open them in ArcGIS Desktop (ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap) where places will appear in their correct geographic location.
    • Save the maps in an ArcGIS Online web map.

    Finding the maps of interest is simple. Users can see a footprint of the map in the map view before they decide to add it to the display, and thumbnails of the maps are shown in pop-ups on the timeline. The timeline also helps users find maps because they can zoom and pan, and maps at select scales can be turned on or off by using the legend boxes to the left of the timeline. Once maps have been added to the display, users can reorder them by dragging them. Users can also download maps as zipped GeoTIFF images. Users can also share the current state of the app through a hyperlink or social media.     Once signed in, users can create a web map with the current map view and any maps they have selected. The web map will open in ArcGIS Online. The title of the web map will be the same as the top map on the side panel of the app. All historical maps that were selected in the app will appear in the Contents section of the web map with the earliest at the top and the latest at the bottom. Turning the historical maps on and off or setting the transparency on the layers allows users to compare the historical maps over time. Also, the web map can be opened in ArcGIS Desktop (ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap) and used for exploration or data capture.

    Users can find out more about the USGS topograhic map collection and the app by clicking on the information button at the upper right. This opens a pop-up with information about the maps and app. The pop-up includes a useful link to a USGS web page that provides access to documents with keys explaining the symbols on historic and current USGS topographic maps. The pop-up also has a link to send Esri questions or comments about the map collection or the app.

    We have shared the updated app on GitHub, so users can download it and configure it to work with their own map collections.

    This is a 13-band multispectral image service application that's part of the Living Atlas of the World on ArcGIS Online. It's also multi-temporal with a 5 day revisit time and includes the last 14 months of available imagery. It's updated daily with the latest imagery. The source imagery is hosted on AWS S3 in Franfurt. Anyone with an ArcGIS subscription has access to the service and does not use credits.

    This web map references the live tiled map service from the OpenStreetMap project. OpenStreetMap (OSM) is an open collaborative project to create a free editable map of the world. Volunteers gather location data using GPS, local knowledge, and other free sources of information such as free satellite imagery, and upload it.     Supermarkets are one of the most popular and convenient ways in which Americans gain access to healthy food, such as fresh meat and fish, or fresh fruits and vegetables. There are various ways in which people gain access to supermarkets. People in the suburbs drive to supermarkets and load up the car with many bags of food. People in cities depend much more on walking to the local store, or taking a bus or train.This map came about after asking a simple question: how many Americans live within a reasonable walk or drive to a supermarket?In this case, "reasonable" was defined as a 10 minute drive, or a 1 mile walk. The ArcGIS Network Analyst extension performed the calculations on streets data from StreetMap Premium, and the ArcGIS Spatial Analyst extension created a heat map of the walkable access and drivable access to supermarkets.The green dots represent populations in poverty who live within one mile of a supermarket. The red dots represent populations in poverty who live beyond a one mile walk to a supermarket, but may live within a 10 minute drive...which presumes they have access to a car or public transit. The grey dots represent the total population in a given area.This is an excellent map to use as backdrop to show how people are improving access to healthy food in their community. Open this map in ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online to use it as a backdrop to your local analysis work. Or open it in ArcGIS Explorer to add your favorite farmers' market, CSA, or transit line -- then share that map via Facebook, Twitter or email.     This web map contains the Bing Maps aerial imagery web mapping service, which offers worldwide orthographic aerial and satellite imagery. Coverage varies by region, with the most detailed coverage in the USA and United Kingdom. Coverage in different areas within a country also varies in detail based on the availability of imagery for that region. Bing Maps is continuously adding imagery in new areas and updating coverage in areas of existing coverage. This map does not include bird's eye imagery. Information regarding monthly updates of imagery coverage are available on the Bing Community blog. EarthExplorerUse the USGS EarthExplorer (EE) to search, download, and order satellite images, aerial photographs, and cartographic products. In addition to data from the Landsat missions and a variety of other data providers, EE provides access to MODIS land data products from the NASA Terra and Aqua missions, and ASTER level-1B data products over the U.S. and Territories from the NASA ASTER mission. Registered users of EE have access to more features than guest users.Earth Explorer Distribution DownloadThe EarthExplorer user interface is an online search, discovery, and ordering tool developed by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). EarthExplorer supports the searching of satellite, aircraft, and other remote sensing inventories through interactive and textual-based query capabilities. Through the interface, users can identify search areas, datasets, and display metadata, browse and integrated visual services within the interface.The distributable version of EarthExplorer provides the basic software to provide this functionality. Users are responsible for verification of system recommendations for hosting the application on your own servers. By default, this version of our code is not hooked up to a data source so you will have to integrate the interface with your data. Integration options include service-based API's, databases, and anything else that stores data. To integrate with a data source simply replace the contents of the 'getDataset' and 'search' functions in the CWIC.php file.Distribution is being provided due to users requests for the codebase. The EarthExplorer source code is provided "As Is", without a warranty or support of any kind. The software is in the public domain; it is available to any government or private institution.The software code base is managed through the USGS Configuration Management Board.
