The market's Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 5.00% from 2019-2024 suggests a consistently expanding market. This growth is driven by several factors: the rapid expansion of online retail, particularly in urban areas; the increasing adoption of mobile commerce; and a rising middle class with greater disposable income and a preference for convenience. The dominance of B2C shipments is expected to continue, though the B2B segment shows potential for significant growth as businesses increasingly rely on efficient logistics for supply chain management. The ASEAN domestic courier market, exhibiting a robust CAGR of 6.64%, presents a significant growth opportunity. Driven by the burgeoning e-commerce sector, particularly in countries like Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand, the market is witnessing a surge in demand for both express and non-express delivery services. The increasing adoption of digital technologies, including advanced logistics software and tracking systems, further fuels this expansion. While the prevalence of light-weight shipments currently dominates, a notable shift towards heavier weight shipments is anticipated, aligning with the growth of larger e-commerce retailers and a diverse range of goods being delivered. The B2C segment is currently the market leader, fueled by consumer preference for online shopping. However, the B2B segment is poised for considerable growth, driven by expanding supply chains and the increasing adoption of just-in-time inventory management techniques across various industries such as manufacturing and healthcare. Description

The ASEAN Courier, Express, and Parcel (CEP) market is experiencing robust growth, driven by the region's burgeoning e-commerce sector and expanding logistics infrastructure. The market's value, while not explicitly stated, can be reasonably estimated based on global trends and the significant presence of major players like DHL, FedEx, and local giants such as J&T Express and Ninja Van. Considering the rapid digitalization across ASEAN nations and the increasing preference for online shopping, the market size likely surpasses several billion USD in 2025, exhibiting a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) exceeding 10% for the forecast period (2025-2033). Key drivers include rising disposable incomes, improving internet penetration, and government initiatives promoting e-commerce development. The B2C segment dominates the market, fueled by the popularity of online marketplaces and a growing preference for fast and reliable delivery services. The express delivery segment is also a significant contributor to overall market growth, reflecting the demand for speed and efficiency in package delivery. However, challenges remain, including inconsistent infrastructure across the region, regulatory hurdles in certain countries, and the need for enhanced last-mile delivery solutions in rural areas. Furthermore, increasing fuel prices and competition amongst established and emerging players present potential restraints. The market is segmented by destination (domestic and international), speed of delivery (express and non-express), business model (B2B, B2C, and C2C), shipment weight, mode of transport (air, road, and others), and end-user industry (e-commerce, BFSI, healthcare, manufacturing, etc.). The future of the ASEAN CEP market hinges on the successful adoption of advanced technologies like AI-powered route optimization, drone delivery, and automated sorting systems. Companies are investing heavily in these technologies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer experience. The market also shows a growing trend towards sustainable practices, with companies focusing on reducing carbon emissions and implementing eco-friendly delivery solutions. Competition is fierce, with both international and local players vying for market share. Strategic partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions are expected to shape the market landscape in the coming years. The long-term outlook for the ASEAN CEP market remains positive, with continued growth driven by sustained economic development, technological advancements, and the increasing integration of the region's economies. Description

The Vietnam logistics industry, valued at approximately $XX million in 2025, is experiencing robust growth, projected to maintain a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 5.98% from 2025 to 2033. This expansion is driven by several key factors. Firstly, Vietnam's burgeoning manufacturing sector, particularly in electronics and textiles, necessitates efficient logistics networks for both inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods. Secondly, the rise of e-commerce is fueling demand for robust last-mile delivery solutions, particularly in Courier, Express, and Parcel (CEP) services. The growth of foreign direct investment (FDI) and increasing international trade further contribute to this expansion. Finally, government initiatives aimed at modernizing infrastructure, such as port expansions and improved road networks, are creating a more favorable environment for logistics operators. The industry is segmented by end-user industry (e.g., manufacturing, agriculture), logistics function (e.g., freight forwarding, warehousing), and destination type (domestic, international). While the industry faces challenges like infrastructure limitations in certain regions and skilled labor shortages, the overall outlook remains positive due to sustained economic growth and increasing integration into global supply chains. The competitive landscape is characterized by a mix of both international giants like DHL, UPS, and Maersk, and domestic players like ViettelPost and Giao Hang Nhanh. The presence of these multinational companies signifies the industry's global significance. However, the success of local firms indicates opportunities for specialized services and localized expertise. Future growth will likely be shaped by technological advancements, including the adoption of automation and digitalization in warehousing and transportation, as well as increased focus on sustainability and supply chain resilience. The industry's ability to adapt to these trends will determine its long-term success in the rapidly evolving global logistics market. The focus on enhancing infrastructure and attracting further investment will solidify Vietnam's position as a key logistics hub in Southeast Asia. The ASEAN Cross-Border Road Freight Transport industry is experiencing robust growth, driven by increasing intra-regional trade, expanding manufacturing and e-commerce activities, and the development of improved infrastructure connecting ASEAN nations. The industry's size, while not explicitly stated, can be reasonably estimated based on global trends and the significant economic activity within ASEAN. Considering the presence of major logistics players like DHL and DB Schenker actively operating in the region, coupled with the high volume of goods transported across borders, the market size likely surpasses several billion USD annually. A Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of approximately 7-8% is plausible, reflecting the strong economic growth and infrastructure development initiatives in the region. Key drivers include the burgeoning e-commerce sector fueling demand for last-mile delivery, expanding manufacturing bases necessitating efficient cross-border logistics, and government initiatives aimed at streamlining customs procedures and improving road connectivity. However, challenges remain, including inconsistent infrastructure quality across the region, bureaucratic hurdles, and potential trade disputes impacting the smooth flow of goods. Segmentation by end-user industry reveals significant contributions from manufacturing, agriculture, and e-commerce, while the construction and oil & gas sectors also contribute substantial volumes. The competitive landscape is characterized by a mix of global giants and regional players, creating both opportunities and challenges for market entrants. Future growth will likely depend on further infrastructure improvements, the implementation of digital logistics solutions, and the continued economic growth of ASEAN member states. Further growth is projected across the forecast period (2025-2033) with the market witnessing continued expansion fuelled by the ongoing development of regional economic integration initiatives like the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The rising middle class within the ASEAN region is further stimulating demand for consumer goods, consequently increasing the reliance on efficient cross-border road freight transport. While challenges such as fluctuating fuel prices and geopolitical uncertainties may present short-term headwinds, the long-term prospects for the industry remain positive. Increased adoption of technology, including advanced tracking and management systems, will likely contribute to improved efficiency and transparency. Description

A report by Q&Me revealed that as of March 2023, Lotteria and KFC were the leading fast-food restaurant chains in Vietnam by number of stores, with 160 and 145 outlets, respectively. According to the source, the number of chain restaurants in Vietnam totaled over 1.4 thousand that year.

Growth of the fast-food industry in Vietnam

KFC and Lotteria were among the first international chains to enter the Vietnamese fast-food market in the late 1990s. Over the next decade, the fast-food industry enjoyed substantial growth and popularity among Vietnamese diners, particularly among the younger generations. However, in the mid-2010s, the American fast-food giant McDonald’s struggled to gain a foothold in Vietnam’s crowded fast-food scene despite their global dominance. As of 2021, McDonald’s reportedly operated and franchised over 40 thousand restaurants in over 100 countries worldwide. Out of these, just 20 were located in Vietnam.

Vietnam’s F&B market on the rise of food delivery services

Quick-service restaurants looking to enter the Vietnamese F&B market would need to compete against the country’s street food sector. Amid the fast-food craze, street vendors and food stalls have remained the most prevalent type of food and beverage business in Vietnam. However, 2020 was a difficult year for Vietnam’s F&B market when the COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges to the country’s economy. As a result, food delivery services has witnessed significant growth to meet the needs of the population during the lockdown period. Fast-food restaurants, on the other hand, were better able to adapt to the trend by utilizing online delivery services even after the lockdown was lifted. According to a survey conducted among Vietnamese consumers, around 60 percent of respondents revealed that they had ordered fast food on delivery apps, as of April 2023.
