The additional tables have been published as underlying data. Use the metadata file to help understand how to use the files. We have also published an Excel table ‘Table 1: Achievement in early years foundation stage profile (EYFSP) teacher assessments by pupil characteristics’.
The changes to the way we are publishing our statistics are in advance of our move to using the new Explore Education Statistics dissemination platform.
The Explore Education Statistics platform will comprise 3 main aspects for users: release pages, a table tool and downloadable files. Release pages will replace what has previously been produced in a PDF format, providing an interactive HTML page that allows users to easily engage with the information they’re interested in. The table tool will provide a user-friendly way to explore the underlying data behind a publication, allowing users to select the breakdowns of data they’re interested in. The created tables can then be downloaded as CSV files, or saved as a permanent URL for sharing. Complete underlying data files for the publication will also be downloadable in CSV format, now provided with a consistent structure across all publications for ease of analysis. Each of these underlying data files will also include a time series of data from previous releases.
We plan to publish the EYFSP additional tables in the new platform during Spring 2020.
The additional tables provide national and local-authority-level information on EYFSP attainment by pupil characteristics, specifically:

TwitterThe Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) is a teacher assessment of children’s development at the end of the EYFS (the end of the academic year in which the child turns five). This dataset contains the results of the EYFSP by gender and location of school/educational institution. Also includes data by region by ethnic group, language, and free school meal (FSM) eligibility. Indicators include: The percentage of children achieving a Good Level of Development (GLD) The percentage of children achieving at least the expected level across all 17 early learning goals The average total point score across all the early learning goals The EYFS profile was significantly revised from 2021/22. It is therefore not possible to directly compare 2021/22 assessment outcomes with earlier years . Additionally, 2019/20 and 2020/21 data collections were cancelled due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Data files for years up to 2019 are retained on this page for reference, but data from 2021/22 and 2022/23 are in separate files. This dataset is one of the Greater London Authority's measures of Economic Fairness. Click here to find out more.

Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) data for reception aged primary school pupils who met Good Level of Development (GLD) Standard by School Ward for the 2013 onwards. The data is by school location, rather than by pupil residence. In determining, which ward the data relates to, a Schools list by wards is available. The data source is the National Consortium of Examination Results (NCER). A summary of Calderdale school performance can be found on the Council website: School performance tables. School performance for individual schools can be found at Compare school performance. Please note some DFE numbers might have changed please see previous DFE code on Schools list.

This data shows Education Attainment, at Early Years Foundation Stage, Year 1 Phonics assessments, and Key Stage 1 teacher assessments. Numbers and percentages of pupils are shown by gender. A brief outline of the attainment levels:
• A Good level of Development at Foundation Stage means children achieving at least the expected level within the following areas of learning: communication and language; physical development; personal, social and emotional development; literacy; and mathematics.
• Year 1 Phonics attainment is based on the percentage of pupils meeting the standard of the Phonics decoding screening check. • Key Stage 1 attainment is based on the percentage of pupils achieving the expected standard or above in each of Reading, Writing and Maths Teacher Assessments.
• Key Stage 1 attainment is not available in 2024 as this has now become non-statutory and optional. Data has been included up until 2023.
More information about the Early Years Foundation Stage and Primary Key Stage 1 curriculums is available on the Department for Education (DfE) School Curriculum website; a link to that is included along with the dataset.
Data is included for Wards, Lower Super Output Areas (LSOA), Districts, and Lincolnshire. The data has been aggregated based on pupil postcode and only includes those pupils living and educated within Lincolnshire. If you want Lincolnshire and District aggregations based on those pupils that are educated within Lincolnshire, irrespective of where they live; then please see the Department for Education Statistics website and School Performance Tables (links to these included as Resources accompanying these datasets).
Data is suppressed where appropriate 5 persons and below (this may be shown by missing data). That and any unmatched postcodes may mean numbers for small areas might not add up exactly to figures shown for larger areas.
This data is updated annually. Data source: Lincolnshire County Council, Performance Services – Schools Performance.

Foundation Stage Profile
National data for Early Years Foundation Stage Profile results are published via: https://explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk/find-statistics/early-years-foundation-stage-profile-results – GOV.UK (explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk)
There have been changes to the Foundation Stage Profile even though the overall measure of “Good Level of Development” appears to be the same. The DfE offer the following phrase via the above link:
“This is the third publication since the 2021/22 EYFS reforms were introduced in September 2021. As part of those reforms, the EYFS profile was significantly revised. It is therefore not possible to directly compare 2023/24, 2022/23 & 2021/22 assessment outcomes with earlier years. The 2019/20 and 2020/21 data collections were cancelled due to coronavirus (COVID-19).”
Further details on the changes to the early years foundation stage (EYFS) framework can be found via the following link: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/changes-to-the-early-years-foundation-stage-eyfs-framework/changes-to-the-early-years-foundation-stage-eyfs-framework - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Phonics and Key Stage 1
National data for Phonics and Key Stage 1 results are published via: https://explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk/find-statistics/key-stage-1-and-phonics-screening-check-attainment – GOV.UK (explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk)
It is worth noting that there have been drops in attainment seen nationally. The DfE offer the following commentary via the link above:
“These are the third phonics screening check and second key stage 1 attainment statistics since 2019, after assessments were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. These statistics cover the attainment of year 1 and year 2 pupils who took these assessments in summer 2024 (phonics) or summer 2023 (key stage 1). These pupils experienced disruption to their learning during the pandemic.”

This dataset presents the percentage of children who achieved a good level of development at the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), typically assessed at the end of the Reception year. It provides a key measure of school readiness and early childhood development, helping to inform local and national strategies for improving early years education outcomes.
Rationale
The rationale for this indicator is to monitor and improve school readiness by tracking the proportion of children reaching a good level of development by the end of Reception. Achieving this milestone is associated with better educational outcomes and long-term wellbeing.
Numerator
The numerator is the number of children assessed as having reached a good level of development at the end of the EYFS, as reported by local authorities.
Denominator
The denominator is the total number of children eligible for the EYFS Profile assessment within each local authority.
Caveats
The EYFS Profile data includes all English providers of state-funded early years education (including academies and free schools), as well as private, voluntary, and independent (PVI) sector providers. Variations in assessment practices and local demographics may influence results.

This statistical first release (SFR) contains results at national and local authority level for the early years foundation stage profile (EYFSP) assessments in 2011. The release shows attainment by pupil characteristics, specifically gender, ethnicity, eligibility for free school meals (FSM), special educational needs (SEN) and English as a first language.
The figures contained within this publication combine the information gathered through the school census in January 2011 and the 2011 early years foundation stage profile teacher assessments.
This statistical release was published on 1 December 2011 and updates the release of 16 December 2010.
The key points from this release are:
Underlying data and pupil residency based tables showing a breakdown of attainment by pupil characteristics will be added in January 2012.
Note: We are considering publishing the EYFSP attainment by pupil characteristics results in a joint publication in 2012 with the summary national- and local authority-level results as published in October 2011. This would mean some revisions to the timings of both publications but would result in one statistical first release (SFR). If you have comments on this proposed change please contact Sally Marshall.

This statistical release was published on 21 November 2012 and updates the release of 1 December 2011.
The key points from this release are:
A revised, simpler framework for the EYFS was published on 27 March 2012, for implementation from 1 September 2012. As a result of these changes, this SFR will provide the final update to the existing time series. The EYFSP characteristics SFR in 2013 will report pupils performance based on the revised profile.
In the academic year 2011 to 2012, due to local area free school meal initiatives, there has been both an under and an over recording of free school meal eligibility in some local authorities. The impact on national figures as a result of these mis-recordings is considered negligible.

TwitterThe tables provide 2012 information on pupil residency-based small area pupil attainment (early years foundation stage profile (EYFSP) and key stages 1, 2, 4 and 5) broken down by gender, free school meal (FSM) eligibility (key stages 2 and 4 only) and ethnicity (key stages 2 and 4 only). The tables also provide information on pupil residency-based pupil absence broken down by gender for the 2011 to 2012 academic year.
The key points from the latest release are:
at EYFSP, girls consistently perform better than boys in almost all LADs
at key stage 1, key stage 2, key stage 4 and key stage 5, girls also outperform boys in all but a small number of LADs
overall, all other pupils perform significantly better than FSM pupils in all areas of the country, this performance gap can be seen at both key stage 2 and key stage 4
Chinese pupils continue to have the highest levels of attainment in all regions for key stage 2 and key stage 4
black pupils have some of the lowest levels of attainment across the country at these 2 key stages
there is smaller variation across the regions for pupils in primary schools with the Yorkshire and the Humber having the highest level of persistent absence and the South East the lowest
