This map service shows the boundaries of the Fairbanks North Star Borough PM2.5 Nonattainment Area and the Air Quality Zones. The nonattainment area was designated in 2009 for violation of the Federal 2006 24-hour PM2.5 Standard. PM2.5 stands for particulate matter less than 2.5 microns in diameter.On October 2, 2018, Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) voters passed a citizen initiative (Prop 4) that removed the FNSB’s authority to regulate wood stoves and other wood and coal fired heating devices. Therefore, the Department of Environmental Conservation’s Air Quality Division will be issuing air quality alerts, curtailment announcements, and conducting compliance and enforcement. This service combines parcel data from various local government bodies in Alaska and describes a subset of input fields using consistent field names. These cases are extremely rare (< 0.003%), and for the vast majority of records 'feature_id' is unique. FAF Zones of concern were created to display areas that may be problematic for fire fighters, and for home owners to know the risks near or on their property or subdivision. The zones were created based on vegetation structure and access. This data has not been updated i recent years. It is still relevant but has not taken into account new construction for the past 10 years in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.

This Feature Layer is an overview of the Major Roads in the Fairbanks North Star Borough, Alaska. It can be used as a general orientation to the mobility and population corridors of the Interior of Alaska. The Fairbanks North Star Borough is approximately 7,360 square miles, roughly the size of the State of New Jersey. With a population of under 100,000 and much of the Borough being wilderness, most social, commercial and economic activities are conducted within those specific geographic corridors.
