The Block layer was created to depict subdivided land areas within subdivisions defined by recorded documents (plats) for the County of Fairfax. The polygons portrayed on this layer define the third portion of the County's Parcel Identification Numbering system (Map / Subdivision / Block / Parcel). Blocks are indicated on the property maps using a number within a single circle and boundaries that have heavy dashed lines. Information portrayed on this layer was initially derived from the ink-on-mylar property maps maintained by the County since the early 1960s.

This data is the source of all current parcel identification numbers and the approximate location of the parcel boundaries. These features were created through various means including conversion from mylar maps, heads up digitizing and coordinate geometry. The graphic depiction of the parcel boundaries in this layer is a derivative of the recorded documents that contain the official boundary of each parcel. To determine the accurate definition of any given parcel go to the recorded document housed in the official court recorded system, CPAN.
This layer contains cadastral information for Fairfax County, Virginia. This includes, but is not limited to the portrayal of polygonal features (such as parcels, subdivisions and easements), text (parcel numbers, street names and addresses), and symbols (parkland, schools, "double circles", etc.). This layer was initially developed as a digital copy of the ink-on-mylar property maps maintained by the County since the early 1960's.

Minor transportation contains the non-primary road polygons in Fairfax County. The original data in this layer was captured during the 1997 data conversion effort for Fairfax County. After that an update capture was completed in 2014 using stereo models from the 2009 Virginia State imagery. Subsequent to that an update capture was completed in 2022 using stereo models from the 2017 Virginia State imagery. The most recent planimetric update was completed in 2024 using orthoimagery from the 2023 and 2022 Eagleview Orthophotos.
The data in this layer provides the areal extent of the paved and unpaved driveways, paved and unpaved shared driveways, paved and unpaved parking lots, and paved and unpaved private roads, up to the edge of pavement. Minor transportation features are features that exist outside of the right of way. These features will typically have a match line where they coincide with the major transportation features.

The data in this layer provides the areal extent of the paved and unpaved roads up to the edge of pavement. Major transportation features are features that exist in the rights of way as opposed to roads that are on parcels. This also contains the areas of bridges and medians which exist between divided highways.
