Physical properties of split sediment cores collected from the Semenov Hydrothermal Field region of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge during the RRS James Cook cruises JC224 (March - April 2022) were measured using the Geotek MSCL-Standard (MSCL-S) at the British Ocean Sediment Core Research Facility (BOSCORF). Split sediment cores were fed through the MSCL-S which is fitted with a P-wave velocity sensor, a gamma-ray density meter, a magnetic susceptibility loop, and a non-contact resistivity sensor. This dataset includes measurements of bulk density, fractional porosity, magnetic susceptibility, and electrical resistivity of two sediment cores which can be used as proxies for changes in mineralogy, lithology and textures. The data were collected as part of a PhD project funded under NERC's Ultramafic-hosted mineral Resource Assessment (ULTRA) project, grant reference NE/S004068/1, and the sediment cores are currently stored at the BOSCORF for long-term preservation.
