    During the years 2019 and 2020, a total of 7,284 suicides were recorded in Italy among people aged 15 years and older, which is equal to a suicide rate of 6.81 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. This statistic shows differences in this figure related to gender. Male individuals accounted for 78.2 percent of suicides. Accordingly, the suicide rate was much higher for men than for women. About 11.35 deaths per 100,000 male individuals were recorded in 2019 and 2020, compared to almost three deaths per 100,000 women. Aosta Valley was the region with the highest suicide rate.

    During the years 2019 and 2020, a total of 7,284 suicides were recorded in Italy among people aged 15 years and older, which is equal to a suicide rate of almost seven deaths per 100,000 inhabitants. This statistic shows regional differences in this figure. Aosta Valley was the region recording the highest suicide rate, with 11.57 deaths per every 100,000 inhabitants. Conversely, Campania was the region with the lowest number of suicides in relation to its population size. The suicide rate in the country was much higher among men than among women.
