There have been a number of changes to indicator definitions, as well as removal and replacement of some indicators for the 2016 Health Profiles.
These indicator changes follow the PHOF refresh in May 2016 and a recent consultation with users of the Health Profiles.

The online Health Profiles are updated quarterly at the same time as the Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF).
The data are presented in an interactive tool that allows users to view them in a user-friendly format. The profiles provide a snapshot overview of health for each local authority in England. These profiles are intended to help local government and health services make plans to improve local people’s health and reduce health inequalities.
This quarterly update contains updates to 5 indicators that are also being updated in PHOF or other PHE tools.

It has been developed by the Department of Health and Social Care and is intended to summarise information and provide an accessible overview for the public. Topics covered have been chosen to include a broad range of conditions, health outcomes and risk factors for poor health and wellbeing. These topics will continue to be reviewed to ensure they remain relevant. A headline indicator is presented for each topic on the overview page, with further measures presented on a detailed page for each topic.
All indicators in health trends in England are taken from https://fingertips.phe.org.uk/">a large public health data collection called Fingertips. Indicators in Fingertips come from a number of different sources. Fingertips indicators have been chosen to show the main trends for outcomes relating to the topics presented.

The https://fingertips.phe.org.uk/profile/general-practice">National General Practice Profiles are designed to support GPs, primary care networks (PCNs), clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) and local authorities to ensure that they are providing and commissioning effective and appropriate healthcare services for their local populations.
In addition to viewing individual practice profiles, users can view summary profiles for PCNs, CCGs and other higher geographies. Each practice can be compared with its CCG, PCN and England in a user-friendly, informative format.

TwitterThe Interactive Health Atlas of Lung conditions in England (Inhale) tool has now been refreshed and updated to present data about a range of respiratory diseases including COPD and asthma, at CCG level for England.
This release includes updates for hospital admissions based indicators and Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) based indicators. This tool includes data from the https://fingertips.phe.org.uk/profile/atlas-of-variation">2nd Atlas of variation in risk factors and healthcare for respiratory disease and further updates to the tool are planned using the respiratory atlas data.

Developed by PHE’s National Child and Maternal Health Intelligence Network with NHS England, the indicators provide information on public health outcomes for children in their early years.

This update also consolidates some indicators in the profiles. This is to remove indicators for which Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) data is no longer collected and replace indicators based on questions in the https://gp-patient.co.uk/">GP patient survey that have now changed.
The https://fingertips.phe.org.uk/profile/general-practice">National General Practice Profiles are designed to support GPs, clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) and local authorities to commission effective, appropriate healthcare services for their local populations. Users can search for and view data for an individual GP practice and compare them with the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and England in a user-friendly format.
We will update the remaining indicators in the profiles in January or February 2019.
