This resource is a member of a series. County subdivisions are the primary divisions of counties and their equivalent entities for the reporting of Census Bureau data. They include legally-recognized minor civil divisions (MCDs) and statistical census county divisions (CCDs), and unorganized territories. For the 2010 Census, the MCDs are the primary governmental and/or administrative divisions of counties in 29 States and Puerto Rico; Tennessee changed from having CCDs for Census 2000 to having MCDs for the 2010 Census. In MCD States where no MCD exists or is not defined, the Census Bureau creates statistical unorganized territories to complete coverage. The entire area of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas are covered by county subdivisions. The boundaries of most legal MCDs are as of January 1, 2023, as reported through the Census Bureau's Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS). The boundaries of all CCDs are those as reported as part of the Census Bureau's Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP) for the 2020 Census.

In four states (Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, and Virginia), there are one or more incorporated places that are independent of any county organization and thus constitute primary divisions of their states. These incorporated places are known as independent cities and are treated as equivalent entities for purposes of data presentation. The District of Columbia and Guam have no primary divisions, and each area is considered an equivalent entity for purposes of data presentation. The Census Bureau treats the following entities as equivalents of counties for purposes of data presentation: Municipios in Puerto Rico, Districts and Islands in American Samoa, Municipalities in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and Islands in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The entire area of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas is covered by counties or equivalent entities. The boundaries for counties and equivalent entities are as of January 1, 2017, primarily as reported through the Census Bureau's Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS).

This GIS data set contains Florida county boundaries found on the most recent 7.5-minute USGS (1:24000 scale) quadrangles available in 1997. The county borders extend to the state water line. The linework along the state borders with Alabama and Georgia exactly matches FWRI's 1:40K shoreline.

The Florida Department of Revenue’s Property Tax Oversight(PTO) program collects parcel level Geographic Information System (GIS) data files every April from all of Florida’s 67 county property appraisers’ offices. This GIS data was exported from these file submissions in August 2024. The GIS parcel polygon features have been joined with thereal property roll (Name – Address – Legal, or NAL)file. No line work was adjusted between county boundaries.The polygon data set represents the information property appraisers gathered from the legal description on deeds, lot layout of recorded plats, declaration of condominium documents, recorded and unrecorded surveys.Individual parcel data is updated continually by each county property appraiser as needed. The GIS linework and related attributions for the statewide parcel map are updated annually by the Department every August. Public Land Survey System (PLSS) reference grid serves as base map information and may be used for planning and analytical purposes.Sections lines are approximate, except for those adjusted to verified section corners. Section lines adjusted to verified section corners as corners recovery sheets are received from registered surveyor.Converted from Intergraph to Graphic Data Systems (GDS) circa 1989, GDS to ESRI's SDE circa 1999. The Mandatory Phosphate Mine Boundaries layer contains the conceptual boundaries of all active mandatory phosphate mines within Florida by the year 2014. 'Mandatory Phosphate Mines' does not indicate that the area is required to be mined for phosphate; 'Mandatory' refers to the regulatory status of the land. Land mined for phosphate since July 1, 1975 is 'Mandatory', and is required by Florida law to be reclaimed (contoured and re-vegetated). Land mined prior to July 1, 1975 was not required to be reclaimed. This layer provides the mine boundary for mines that are subject to the regulatory requirements of Chapter 378, Part III, F.S. and/or Chapter 373, Part IV. F.S. and Chapter 62C-16, F.A.C. Mandatory phosphate mining occurs primarily in the central Florida phosphate mining district in Polk, Hillsborough, Manatee, and Hardee counties and one mine in North Florida in Hamilton County. This layer was designed to provide the Mining and Mitigation Program with a graphical representation of the Mandatory Phosphate boundaries for planning and management purposes. Because this data is a work in progress, it may contain errors such as missing features, outdated features, overlapping features, erroneous status of features, variations in accuracy, or attribute errors. This layer was created and maintained by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Water Resource Management's Program Support.

The Florida TIITF Land Records Spatial Index is a document based GIS layer to be displayed as a map comprised of polygons and attributes representing parcels described in deeds, leases, easements and other instruments archived in the Title Archives of the Division of State Lands, Department of Environmental Protection for the Florida Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund (TIITF). The polygons represent parcels described in the archived TIITF land record documents; this is not a tax map or a representation of current ownership. The data includes acquisitions, dispositions and encumbrances. Selecting a parcel on the map may return information about several different documents associated with that parcel through out the history of State land transactions involving that parcel.

The polygon data set represents the information property appraisers gathered from the legal description on deeds, lot layout of recorded plats, declaration of condominium documents, recorded and unrecorded surveys.The centroids were derived from the parcel polygons. Using ArcPRO, the repair geometry tool was used, followed by the feature to point tool. All centroids were created within the polygon's boundary even if the center of the irregular polygon was outside its boundary. Individual parcel data is updated continually by each county property appraiser as needed. The GIS linework and related attributions for the statewide parcel map are updated annually by the Department every August. Each year, the Forecasting and Trends Office (FTO) publishes population estimates and future year projections. The population estimates can be used for a variety of planning studies including statewide and regional transportation plan updates, subarea and corridor studies, and funding allocations for various planning agencies.The 2021 population estimates are based on the population estimates developed by the Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR) at the University of Florida. BEBR uses the decennial census count for April 1, 2020, as the starting point for state-level projections.
