TwitterThe Library of Congress makes available high resolution images of maps created during the Civil War by Confederate Engineers. One Shared Story volunteers georeference these images to modern features using points where streams and rivers join. These georeferenced images are generated into a tile map service using Esri products and made available to the public through ArcGIS Online. Volunteers digitize the map labels to create a searchable spatial data for the map image.
