In 2022, South Africa ranked highest in the food security index in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), with a score of 61.7. The country followed only Morocco on the African continent. On the other hand, Nigeria, Burundi, Madagascar, and Sierra Leone had the highest food insecurity in SSA and the continent.
