The feature class indicates the specific types of motorized vehicles allowed on the designated routes and their seasons of use. The feature class is designed to be consistent with the MVUM (Motor Vehicle Use Map). It is compiled from the GIS Data Dictionary data and NRM Infra tabular data that the administrative units have prepared for the creation of their MVUMs. Only roads with a SYMBOL attribute value of 1, 2, 3, 4, 11, and 12 are Forest Service System roads and contain data concerning their availability for OHV (Off Highway Vehicle) use. This data is published and refreshed on a unit by unit basis as needed. Data for each individual unit must be verified and proved consistent with the published MVUMs prior to publication. The Forest Service's Natural Resource Manager (NRM) Infrastructure (Infra) is the agency standard for managing and reporting information about inventory of constructed features and land units as well as the permits sold to the general public and to partners.

    Description

A map service depicting existing National Forest System Roads (NFSR) that are under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Forest Service. Each feature represents a segment of a road, along which all of the attributes are the same. A road is a motor vehicle travel way over 50 inches wide, unless classified and managed as a trail. NFS roads are symbolized by symbol code: Road, Not Maintained for Passenger Car; Dirt Road, Suitable for Passenger Car; Paved Road; Gravel Road, Suitable for Passenger Car. Closed roads are symbolized with a light-gray dashed line symbol. Road data displays at scales larger than 1:400,000. Metadata and Downloads

    Description

A map service depicting Forest Service roads and trails that are designated for motor vehicle use under the official U.S. Government Code of Federal Regulations for identifying designated roads and trails (36 CFR 212.56). Road and Trail MVUM. The difference between MVUM_01 and MVUM_02 is that MVUM_02 has trails and roads in the MVUM Symbology group labeled while MVUM_01 does not. Additional roads, such as highways, county roads or public roads, are included for mapping purposes. This map service shows the specific types of motorized vehicles allowed on the designated routes and their seasons of use. Data used in this map service are designed to be consistent with the MVUM (Motor Vehicle Use Map). The road and trail data are compiled from the GIS Data Dictionary data and Infra tabular data that the U.S. Forest Service administrative units have prepared for the creation of their MVUMs. This data is published and refreshed on a unit by unit basis as needed and approved by the individual units in order to stay in sync and consistent with the published MVUMs. Only roads with the symbol value of 1,2,3, 4, 11, 12 are Forest Service System roads and contain data concerning their availability for OHV use. Only trails with the symbol value of 5-12, 16, 1. are Forest Service System trails and contain data concerning their availability for motorized use.Metadata and Downloads

    Description

(Link to Metadata) GMNFTRAILS contains minor Forest Service roads and all trails within the proclamation boundary of the Green Mountain National Forest and many of the public roads and trails from Addison, Bennington, Rutland, Washington, Windham, and Windsor Counties, Vermont. A road is a motor vehicle travel way over 50 inches wide, unless classified and managed as a trail. A road may be classified or unclassified. Classified roads are roads within National Forest System lands planned and managed for motor vehicle access including State roads, county roads, private roads, permitted roads, and Forest Service roads. Unclassified roads are roads not intended to be a part of nor managed as a part of the forest transportation system, such as temporary roads, and unplanned, unengineered, unauthorized off-road vehicle tracks and abandoned travel ways. A trail is a linear feature constructed for the purpose of allowing the free movement of people or stock. Original linework was derived from Forest Service Cartographic Feature Files and supplemented with state-wide data from the Vermont Agency of Transportation. However, these original sources have been highly refined and edited. See the Data Quality section for more details. GMNFTRAILS dataset contains three main feature classes 1) route_ltat = Long Trail (LT) and Appalachian Trail (AT) within the GMNF 2) route_trail = All trails within the GMNF 3) route_road = All roads (excluding highways) within the GMNF GMNFTRAILS exludes the route_highway and "arc" features from the original TRAVEL_ROUTE coverage.

    Description

The USGS Transportation service from The National Map (TNM) is based on TIGER/Line data provided through U.S. Census Bureau and road data from U.S. Forest Service. Some of the TIGER/Line data includes limited corrections done by USGS. Transportation data consists of roads, railroads, trails, airports, and other features associated with the transport of people or commerce. The data include the name or route designator, classification, and location. Transportation data support general mapping and geographic information system technology analysis for applications such as traffic safety, congestion mitigation, disaster planning, and emergency response. The National Map transportation data is commonly combined with other data themes, such as boundaries, elevation, hydrography, and structures, to produce general reference base maps. The National Map Download Client allows free downloads of public domain transportation data in either Esri File Geodatabase or Shapefile formats. For additional information on the transportation data model, go to https://nationalmap.gov/transport.html.

Description

The feature class indicates the specific types of motorized vehicles allowed on the designated routes and their seasons of use. The feature class is designed to be consistent with the MVUM (Motor Vehicle Use Map).
