This map layer shows the location of addressable structures in central Ohio. Addresses are included for all of Franklin County and a seven-mile radius beyond. This layer was created as part of the Location Based Response System (LBRS) initiative of the Ohio Geographically Referenced Information Program (OGRIP). The included address data is maintained by a cooperative effort between regional governements including Columbus, Dublin, Worthington, Westerville, Gahanna, Grove City, Hilliard and Franklin County. Maintenace of the layer is coordinated by the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission.

For example, one community may have two commercial districts- Local Commerical and General Commercial. Another community may have three commercial districts- Neighborhood Commercial, Hi-Tech Office, and Retail Commercial. A wide range of uses could be included in these categories, but for the purpose of this feature class, they are all translated into "Commercial/Office." In some cases a category on community's future land use map could not be translated into a single composite category. When this occurred, areas were manually translated into the appropriate generalized category. For example, a Public Lands class on a community's map would be manually translated into the Public/Institutional and Recreation/Conservation composite categories.

A Joint Economic Development Zone (JEDZ) is an arrangement in Ohio where one or more municipalities and a township agree to work together to develop township land for commercial or industrial purposes. The benefit to the municipality is that they get a portion of the taxes levied in the JEDZ without having to annex it. The benefits to the township are that it does not lose prime development land, it can still collect property taxes as well as a portion of the income tax collected, and it normally receives water from the municipality, which it may not otherwise have.
