http://www.openstreetmap.org/images/osm_logo.png" alt=""> OpenStreetMap (openstreetmap.org) is a global collaborative mapping project, which offers maps and map data released with an open license, encouraging free re-use and re-distribution. The data is created by a large community of volunteers who use a variety of simple on-the-ground surveying techniques, and wiki-syle editing tools to collaborate as they create the maps, in a process which is open to everyone. The project originated in London, and an active community of mappers and developers are based here. Mapping work in London is ongoing (and you can help!) but the coverage is already good enough for many uses.
Browse the map of London on OpenStreetMap.org
The whole of England updated daily:
For more details of downloads available from OpenStreetMap, including downloading the whole planet, see 'planet.osm' on the wiki.
Download small areas of the map by bounding-box. For example this URL requests the data around Trafalgar Square:
http://api.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/map?bbox=-0.13062,51.5065,-0.12557,51.50969
Data filtered by "tag". For example this URL returns all elements in London tagged shop=supermarket:
http://www.informationfreeway.org/api/0.6/*[shop=supermarket][bbox=-0.48,51.30,0.21,51.70]
The format of the data is a raw XML represention of all the elements making up the map. OpenStreetMap is composed of interconnected "nodes" and "ways" (and sometimes "relations") each with a set of name=value pairs called "tags". These classify and describe properties of the elements, and ultimately influence how they get drawn on the map. To understand more about tags, and different ways of working with this data format refer to the following pages on the OpenStreetMap wiki.
Rather than working with raw map data, you may prefer to embed maps from OpenStreetMap on your website with a simple bit of javascript. You can also present overlays of other data, in a manner very similar to working with google maps. In fact you can even use the google maps API to do this. See OSM on your own website for details and links to various javascript map libraries.
The OpenStreetMap project aims to attract large numbers of contributors who all chip in a little bit to help build the map. Although the map editing tools take a little while to learn, they are designed to be as simple as possible, so that everyone can get involved. This project offers an exciting means of allowing local London communities to take ownership of their part of the map.
Read about how to Get Involved and see the London page for details of OpenStreetMap community events.

This API accesses data from QLD Government's WildNet database that has been approved for public release. There are a number of functions that retrieve species names, profiles, notes, statuses, images, species survey locations and project information.
Please see https://apps.des.qld.gov.au/species for more information on using the API functions.
Data can be retrieved in 3 different formats by adding the format variable to the end of the url (e.g. &f=xml). The default format is json if the f (format) variable is omitted.
E.g.
- JSON: https://apps.des.qld.gov.au/species/?op=getkingdomnames&f=json
- XML: https://apps.des.qld.gov.au/species/?op=getkingdomnames&f=xml
- CSV: https://apps.des.qld.gov.au/species/?op=getkingdomnames&f=csv
When spatial locations are returned, GeoJSON or KML will be used when requesting the json and xml formats.
Species profile search can be used to locate species information (by name or a taxonomy search). It uses the Get species by ID function to display species profiles with images and maps and uses the Get surveys by species function for downloading data.
Biomaps provides a map interface to display the WildNet records approved for publication with other spatial layers (such as cadastre, protected areas, vegetation and biodiversity value mapping). A range of WildNet species list reports based on all WildNet records and other environmental reports can be requested for properties and drawn areas etc.
WetlandMaps provides a map interface to display WildNet records approved for publication with other spatial layers (such as wetland mapping).
The Queensland Globe can be used to access WildNet records approved release and access summarised WildNet data in 10x10km grids.
Other WildNet products are made available via the Queensland Government Open Data Portal.
The resources listed below are the service endpoints for each of the operations (or functions) available.

Postcodes can be entered at area, district, sector, and unit level - see Postcode map for the geographical relationship between these.
You can connect to the actual flight routes around the world with your API key at any time with very fast response times. It is possible to view all routes at the same time via a single API key. For your convenience, we have also developed many different filters so that you can pull the exact data you are looking for. This way, you may get data of the routes of a specific airline, routes from or to a specific airport (both IATA and ICAO codes work), or may get an individual flight based on its flight number.
A common use of the air routes API is to develop software in the aviation industry. While Aviation Edge’s focus is to collect and maintaining aviation data, you are free to develop countless applications, tools, and platforms by using our data.
The details included in the routes data are: Departure data: IATA code, ICAO code, terminal, and time. Arrival data: IATA code, ICAO code, terminal, and time. Airline: IATA code of airline. Flight: Flight number. Aircraft: Registration number of the aircraft.
Here's an example response from the API: [ { "departureIata": "OTP", "departureIcao": "LROP", "departureTerminal": 2, "departureTime": "09:15:00", "arrivalIata": "TRN", "arrivalIcao": "LIMF", "arrivalTerminal": 1, "arrivalTime": "10:45:00", "airlineIata": "0B", "airlineIcao": "BMS", "flightNumber": "101", "codeshares": null, "regNumber": "YR-BAP" } ]

The Utility Rate Database (URDB) is a free storehouse of rate structure information from utilities in the United States. Here, you can search for your utilities and rates to find out exactly how you are charged for your electric energy usage. Understanding this information can help reduce your bill, for example, by running your appliances during off-peak hours (times during the day when electricity prices are less expensive) and help you make more informed decisions regarding your energy usage.
Rates are also extremely important to the energy analysis community for accurately determining the value and economics of distributed generation such as solar and wind power. In the past, collecting rates has been an effort duplicated across many institutions. Rate collection can be tedious and slow, however, with the introduction of the URDB, OpenEI aims to change how analysis of rates is performed. The URDB allows anyone to access these rates in a computer-readable format for use in their tools and models. OpenEI provides an API for software to automatically download the appropriate rates, thereby allowing detailed economic analysis to be done without ever having to directly handle complex rate structures. Essentially, rate collection and processing that used to take weeks or months can now be done in seconds!
NREL’s System Advisor Model (formerly Solar Advisor Model or SAM), currently has the ability to communicate with the OpenEI URDB over the internet. SAM can download any rate from the URDB directly into the program, thereby enabling users to conduct detailed studies on various power systems ranging in size from a small residential rooftop solar system to large utility scale installations. Other applications available at NREL, such as OpenPV and IMBY, will also utilize the URDB data.
Upcoming features include better support for entering net metering parameters, maps to summarize the data, geolocation capabilities, and hundreds of additional rates!
