    In 2022, overall average prices were 7.2 percent higher in the Paris Region than in the rest of France. However, there were important differences depending on the type of goods. For instance, average transportations prices were only one percent higher in Paris compared to the French provinces but the average cost for restaurants and hotels were 6.5 percent higher in the French capital city than anywhere else in the country. The most important price difference concerned housing rents, which were 39.6 percent higher in Paris than in the rest of France.

In the third quarter of 2024, it was high in Guadeloupe (116.93).     The house price index for newly built homes in Mainland France declined in 2023, after peaking in the fourth quarter of 2022. In the third quarter of 2023, the index value amounted to 130 index points, an increase of 0.3 percent from the same period in 2022. The highest increase in home prices was observed in the fourth quarter of 2005 when prices rose by almost 13 percent. Meanwhile, prices for second-hand homes increased at a slightly faster rate. The index measures the development of prices for newly built homes, with 2015 chosen as a base year. An index value of 130 means that home prices rose by 30 percent since 2015.
