The average monthly diesel prices in France increased between 2016 and 2018, although interrupted by slight drops. It also appears that gasoline fuel prices increased by **** percent between October 2017 and October 2018.

Fuel prices and transportation in France  

In a survey from early 2018, ** percent of responding French people declared having a diesel car, while a minority said they owned a hybrid car. Furthermore, over a third of respondents in another survey that same year stated spending between ** and *** euros a month on transportation (all kinds of transportation included). Since November 2018, France is experiencing a broad social movement called the Yellow Vests Movement (French: Gilets Jaunes), which was born among others through social media as a protest to the rising fuel prices planned by the government in the winter of 2018-2019. In 2023, logs and reconstituted logs and sticks were the wood products sold for the lowest price in France, at less than ** euro cents per kilowatt-hour lower calorific value.
