Land parcels are administered and maintained by Wake County rather than by local governments within the County. However, for convenience, ToFV GIS serves a sub-set of the Wake County parcels that are restricted to the Urban Service Area of Fuquay-Varina. This parcel data is automatically downloaded every day from Wake County and "clipped" to the ToFV area. This data should always match the full Wake County parcel dataset that is also available for download at all times.

Wake County GIS creates and maintains the official street transportation data for the whole county. ToFV GIS has "clipped" this data to our Urban Service Area for convenience. Data is automatically updated nightly from Wake County's Open Data source, and so should always be the same data as from Wake County.

This data is from the USGS Blue Line Streams data, which is the hydrology used on USGS topographic maps. This data has been "clipped" to the Fuquay-Varina Urban Service Area for convenience. It is not clear when this data was last updated, and the accuracy of stream lines to represent actual stream channel centerlines is variable. Wake County GIS also provides a County-level version of this data on their Open Data site for download. They also provide a different version of stream data.

Railroad data is provided by Wake County. ToFV GIS simplified these polylines slightly and "clipped" the data to the Town Urban Service Area for convenience. The full Wake County data is available on their Open Data site.

Polygons representing the Ponds and Lakes in Fuquay-Varina are update by ToFV GIS as new developments occur that modify the landscape, and as new aerial imagery and other resources become available to determine changes.

Water Meter points within Fuquay-Varina. Most meter devices are owned and maintained by the Town, which provides water utility services. However, on some commercial sites, for example, the meter box and meter yoke are actually privately owned and maintained while the meter device is owned and maintained by the Town. This water meter dataset is constantly under development and improvement as there is increasing demand to integrate GIS meter information with other solutions. Please note that some meter points are not field-validated and some are not associated with a valid METERID for water service, and may essentially be duplicated legacy locations from old GIS data. Building footprints (roof corners) were originally imported from a statewide dataset made around 2010. Major updates were made by ToFV GIS in 2016 and again in Feb. 2018 to add newer developments and remove demolished buildings. Updates will continue to be performed regularly as developments occur and data is available. The buildings are generally not highly accurate and should NOT be used as a basis for surveying or any other measurement. These polygons are meant to be used for visual reference and cartographic purposes.

Address points primarily within the Corporate Limits of the Town of Fuquay-Varina. These include the primary and sometimes secondary address points within parcels. Wake County address point data does not include these secondary address points (e.g. multiple points for units in a building, or multiple buildings on one property). Stormwater Pipe/Conveyance Lines in Fuquay-Varina. Please note that many of the stormwater line features represent privately owned and maintained pipes, and these are essential for mapping and understanding the stormwater drainage network sub-systems at the neighborhood level.
