Patterns in gasoline consumption In a global context, the United States maintains some of the lowest conventional motor fuel prices among high-income countries. This is largely due to its position as the world's largest crude oil producer, allowing it to keep retail prices comparatively low. Despite fluctuations in price, gasoline consumption in the U.S. remains robust, averaging around 8.5 million barrels per day in 2024. Consumption tends to be highest in the summer months and lowest in the winter months due to changing driving behavior.

Residential natural gas prices in the United States amounted to 4.52 U.S. dollars per thousand cubic feet in 2021, up from 4.17 dollars per thousand cubic feet in the year prior. In 2019, figures reached the lowest price since the turn of the century, with a peak of 5.69 U.S. dollars recorded in 1985.

All fuel prices experienced a decrease in prices between January and April 2025. The price index was also lower than at the same time in the previous year. Overall, prices have been notably less volatile throughout 2024 and 2025 when compared to 2021 and 2022.

These datasets bring the mean value per liter, number of gas stations analyzed and other information grouped by regions and states across the country.
