TwitterThis data collection of the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) consists of Lidar Point Cloud (LPC) projects as provided to the USGS. These point cloud files contain all the original lidar points collected, with the original spatial reference and units preserved. These data may have been used as the source of updates to the 1/3-arcsecond, 1-arcsecond, and 2-arcsecond seamless 3DEP Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). The 3DEP data holdings serve as the elevation layer of The National Map, and provide foundational elevation information for earth science studies and mapping applications in the United States. Lidar (Light detection and ranging) discrete-return point cloud data are available in LAZ format. The LAZ format is a lossless compressed version of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) LAS format. Point Cloud data can be converted from LAZ to LAS or LAS to LAZ without the loss of any information. Either format stores 3-dimensional point cloud data and point attributes along with header information and variable length records specific to the data. Millions of data points are stored as a 3-dimensional data cloud as a series of geo-referenced x, y coordinates and z (elevation), as well as other attributes for each point. Additonal information about the las file format can be found here: https://www.asprs.org/divisions-committees/lidar-division/laser-las-file-format-exchange-activities. All 3DEP products are public domain.

TwitterThis dataset provides spatial data on water channels in the estuary of the Atchafalaya Basin of the Mississippi River Delta of coastal Louisiana. These Level-3 (L3) channel maps were developed from interferograms derived from Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle Synthetic Aperture Radar (UAVSAR) data collected on 2016-10-16 (low tides) and 2016-10-17 (high tides). The channel maps define open water paths in hydrodynamic models and are used to evaluate model performance. This is version 2 of this dataset. Data are provided in cloud optimized GeoTIFF format.

TwitterImages were collected using a remotely piloted unoccupied aerial system (UAS) over the bluffs of the eastern shore of Lake Michigan in Ludington rural area, Mason County, MI. Images were collected in two separate surveys conducted on July 11, 2019, and July 14, 2021, using a DJI Phantom 3 and 4 PRO commercial UAS respectively operated by the University of Toledo. The images cover an extent between north of Chauvez Rd. to the south and north of W. Bradshaw Rd. to the north. The purpose of the survey was to monitor active bluff erosion in the area. The images are presented here in zipped files grouped by type of collection, nadir and oblique. The images were collected in JPG format and include default Exif metadata with GPS date, time, longitude and latitude, and other fields. These files were used in structure-from-motion (SfM) processing to obtain georeferenced 3D point data. The 3D derived data are in open source compressed lidar data exchange laz format and were created from the collected images using SfM photogrammetry software. A description of the laz format and links to software tools for using laz files are provided at the USGS website: https://www.usgs.gov/news/3d-elevation-program-distributing-lidar-data-laz-format.The point cloud was classified in never classified (class 0), ground (class 2), medium vegetation (class4), an water (class 9).

TwitterImages were collected using a remotely piloted unoccupied aerial system (UAS) over the bluffs of the eastern shore of Lake Michigan in St. Joseph rural residential area, Berrien County, MI. Images were collected in two separate surveys conducted on July 8, 2019, and July 13, 2021, using a DJI Phantom 3 and 4 PRO commercial UAS respectively operated by the University of Toledo. The images cover an extent between the intersection of Lakeshore Dr. with Lakeshore Road to the north, and South Lakeshore Dr. to the south. The purpose of the survey was to monitor active bluff erosion in the area. The images are presented here in zipped files grouped by type of collection, nadir and oblique. The images were collected in JPG format and include Exif metadata with GPS date, time, longitude and latitude, and other fields.
