This version of NJ-GeoWeb grants users the ability to locate areas of interest, view and interact with NJDEP's latest GIS data and imagery services, and query related environmental information enabling them to gain better understanding of environmental issues in their areas of interest.This latest release includes an entirely new user interface, updated data, including the Landscape Species Based Habitat data, and an assortment of new tool enhancements.

The Water Quality Data Exchange (WQDE) data maintains the locations of water quality monitoring stations from NJDEP's COMPASS database. A station is a location at which a data collection event takes place, such a collection of a field sample, measurement of field parameters or evaluation of environmental habitats.

Note: This dataset is updated daily. The Known Contaminated Sites List for New Jersey (KCSLNJ) are those sites and properties within the state where contamination of soil or ground water has been confirmed at levels equal to or greater than applicable standards. This list of Known Contaminated Sites may include sites where remediation is either currently under way, required but not yet initiated or has been completed and addressed via an Institutional Control. The KCSLNJ layer has now been modified such that the information portrayed in the GIS layer is updated daily through a SQL query of NJEMS/Masterfile, which allows for a dynamic KCSLNJ layer. This is critical for the general public and SRP regulated community by allowing them to see the most up to date information for a known contaminated site in a GIS format via the following web mapping applications: NJ Geoweb (https://www.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=02251e521d97454aabadfd8cf168e44d) or the SRP Profile in ArcGIS Online (AGO) (https://njdep.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=25d1cd0ae75048b1a7867971392b6995).

UST Facilities are points representing sites with Underground Storage Tanks regulated by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) under N.J.A.C. 7:14B. The coordinates used to identify the UST Facility locations were obtained from the SRP Program Interest level. The layer includes UST registration, tanks, and inspection information. The NJDEP New Jersey Environmental Management System (NJEMS) serves as the database that supplies coordinates and descriptive attributes to generate this GIS layer. This layer is produced primarily for the NJDEP NJ-GeoWeb interactive mapping web application and ArcGIS users. The locations in the layer represent main entrance or front door locations for the UST facilities. The majority (approximately 80%) of the UST facilities locations were captured using differential GPS. Users should note that not every UST facility has an established coordinate in NJEMS (GPS or otherwise). This means that additional UST facilities may exist, but not mapped. NJDEP is continually working to acquire the locations of these with GPS, location data submitted to permitting programs, and through address matching techniques. This dataset is updated nightly.

The New Jersey Office of Information Technology, Office of GIS (NJOGIS), in partnership with several local GIS and public safety agencies, as well as the NJ Department of Transportation, has built a comprehensive statewide NG9-1-1 database meeting and exceeding the requirements of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) 2018 NG9-1-1 GIS Data Standard (NENA-STA-006.1-2018). The previous New Jersey statewide road segment data (Tran_road_centerline_NJ), which included the road name alias information, has been transformed into the NENA data model to create the street name alias table. The existing road centerlines were loaded into New Jersey's version of the NENA NG9-1-1 data model using Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) procedures created with Esri's Data Interoperability Extension. The data subsequently have been updated and corrected. The road centerlines no longer contain any linear referencing information. The linear referencing will only be maintained by the NJ Department of Transportation as part of the NJ Roadway Network. These sites include all sites that are regulated under the Site Remediation Reform Act (SRRA), N.J.S.A. 58:10C-1 et seq. The NJDEP New Jersey Environmental Management System (NJEMS) serves as the database that supplies the coordinates and descriptive attributes from several tables used to generate this GIS layer. This layer is produced primarily for the NJDEP's online interactive mapping web applications (NJ-GeoWeb) and ArcGIS users. The original location for the SRP Preferred ID is generated on a nightly cycle from the NJEMS (Masterfile) SRP preferred ID coordinates. Two related table, one which identifies the LSRP associated with a specific case activity and the second of which identifies information about the activities for a given case are also generated on a nightly cycle via SQL querying of the same database systems.Users should note that not every SRP preferred ID in NJEMS has an established coordinate (GPS or otherwise). NJDEP is continually working to acquire these with GPS, location data submitted to permitting programs, and through address matching techniques. SRP also continues to evaluate and refine existing case locations based on both staff input and input from the regulated community.

The data included in the layer enables GIS to map, as polygons, the extents of tax parcels that constitute sites within Brownfield Development Areas (BDAs) in New Jersey. A brownfield is any former or current commercial or industrial site that is currently vacant or underutilized and on which there has been, or there is suspected to be, contamination from a discharge. Under the BDA approach, NJDEP works with selected communities affected by multiple brownfield sites to design and implement remediation and reuse plans for these properties simultaneously. In this way, remediation and reuse occur in a coordinated fashion that invites various stakeholders, including residents and community groups, owners of contaminated properties, potentially responsible parties, developers, and technical experts for the local government to participate in the BDA cleanup and revitalization approach.
