    Description

Directional Line: A line connecting the surface location (wellhead) to the bottom hole location of a directionally drilled oil and gas well. The actual path from the surface location to the bottom hole location is not displayed. Directional lines are not created for straight wells (vertical) since the surface and bottom hole locations are roughly the same for these wells. These are updated on a weekly basis from the GRMD RBDMS database. Except where noted all fields correlate to the bottomhole record. For more information, visit Michigan.gov/EGLE/Maps-Data/GeoWebFace or contact EGLE-GeoWebFace@michigan.gov.

    Description

Bottomhole locations of all oil and gas wells whether directionally drilled or straight (vertical) holes. For a straight (vertical) hole the bottom hole location will be the same as the surface location. This data is updated on a nightly basis. Note that not every well has a bottomhole location available. Default symbology is based on well type. Description

Coal mines are regulated by EGLE through Part 635. No current coal mines exist, and locations of historic coal mines are often unknown/incomplete, therefore this dataset of historical coal mine boundaries is known to be incomplete. Coal Mining began in Michigan in the 1800s but the last active mines closed in the 1950s. There has been no economic interest in Michigan coal for many decades; however, EGLE provides available information related to old coal mines when legacy issues arise, typically related to construction projects near old mine shafts. The current dataset was originally compiled by MDNR, Land and Mineral Services Division, Resource Mapping and Aerial Photography Section in 2001. Additional information can be found on the EGLE Coal Mining webpage. For more information, visit Michigan.gov/EGLE/Maps-Data/GeoWebFace or contact EGLE-GeoWebFace@michigan.gov.Field NameField DescriptionsOBJECTIDESRI ID NumberMineNameName of Coal MineCountyNameCounty nameAreaDouble

    Description

A 'Designated Sand Dune area" is an area designated by statute that includes those geomorphic features composed primarily of sand, whether windblown or of other origin and that lies within 2 miles of the ordinary high-water mark on a Great Lake. This data set was originally created from maps used in the "Designated and Critical Sand Dune Areas" pamphlet published by Geological Survey Division in 1996. Additional information regarding sand dune mining and designated sand dune areas can be found:on the GRMD webpage within 2002 State of Michigan Circular 18 publicationInformation regarding Critical Dune areas can be found on the Part 353 Sand Dunes Protection and Management webpage.
