    The Digital Geologic-GIS Map of the Brooks Range and Vicinity, Alaska is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (arcn_geology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML files for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (arcn_geology.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (arcn_geology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. Contact Stephanie O'Meara (see contact information below) to acquire the GIS data in these GIS data formats. In addition to the GIS data and supporting GIS files, three additional files comprise a GRI digital geologic-GIS dataset or map: 1.) a readme file (cakr_gaar_kova_noat_geology_gis_readme.pdf), 2.) the GRI ancillary map information document (.pdf) file (arcn_geology.pdf) which contains geologic unit descriptions, as well as other ancillary map information and graphics from the source map(s) used by the GRI in the production of the GRI digital geologic-GIS data for the park, and 3.) a user-friendly FAQ PDF version of the metadata (arcn_geology_metadata_faq.pdf).     Description

    Administered Lands is a BLM Alaska GIS dataset that combines publicly available borough, municipality, state, federal, and other entity management and ownership GIS data. This is the basis for BLM’s national Surface Management Agency GIS dataset that was developed to fulfill the public and Government’s need to know what agency is managing Federal land in a given area. This data set is comprised of various sources of geospatial information that have been acquired from local, state and federal agencies in order to assemble a comprehensive representation of current land surface manager. There are many land managing agencies and branches of government and this dataset attempts to classify these entities into general categories. This data does not demonstrate or infer land ownership. The business need for this data includes, but is not limited to, land use planning, permitting, recreation, and emergency response. Due to the nature of assembling geospatial information from multiple sources, integration of features into a single layer may introduce inaccurate artifacts. Acquired datasets have been cross-walked to a standardized schema to aid in the depiction of land surface manager across the state of Alaska. This dataset will contain errors. For the most up to date and accurate information, please contact the surface manager agency for the area in which you are interested.

    This data set includes ArcInfo-formatted maps of the Kuparuk River Basin Region of the Alaskan North Slope (at 1:250,000 scale) and five subset study areas: the Upper Kuparuk River Basin Subregion (1:25,000), the Imnavait Creek Landscape (1:6,000), the Toolik Lake Landscape (1:5,000), the Imnavait Creek Grid (1:500), and the Toolik Lake Grid (1:500). Land cover (satellite-derived) and elevation data (United States Geological Survey digital elevation model (USGS DEM-derived)) are provided for the Kuparuk River Basin Region. For the five subset areas, an integrated terrain unit mapping (ITUM) approach simultaneously mapped vegetation and other terrain features as interpreted in the field from a common aerial-photograph base. The result is a single ITUM map for each area, including vegetation, geomorphology, glacial geology, and many other features. Various supplemental maps (e.g., hydrologic features and roads) for each of the areas are available for use as overlays. Data is only available as a single tar.gz file containing all of the files.

    Description

    The division designation of "special use lands" is for the protection of scenic, historic, archeological, scientific, biological, recreational, or other special resource values warranting additional protections or other special requirements. Special use land designations originate from an area or management plan, or are made at the director's discretion to address a certain need. Before a designation is made, however, other agencies and the public are given a chance to comment on the proposal.

    This shape file characterizes the geographic representation of land parcels within the State of Alaska contained by the Special Use Land category. It has been extracted from data sets used to produce the State status plats. This data set includes cases noted on the digital status plats up to one day prior to data extraction.

    Each feature has an associated attribute record, including a Land Administration System (LAS) file-type and file-number which serves as an index to related LAS case-file information. Additional LAS case-file and customer information may be obtained at: http://dnr.alaska.gov/projects/las/ Those requiring more information regarding State land records should contact the Alaska Department of Natural Resources Public Information Center directly.

    Description

    This data set contains high-resolution QuickBird imagery and geospatial data for the entire Barrow QuickBird image area (156.15° W - 157.07° W, 71.15° N - 71.41° N) and Barrow B4 Quadrangle (156.29° W - 156.89° W, 71.25° N - 71.40° N), for use in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing software. The original QuickBird data sets were acquired by DigitalGlobe from 1 to 2 August 2002, and consist of orthorectified satellite imagery. Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC)-compliant metadata for all value-added data sets are provided in text, HTML, and XML formats. Accessory layers include: 1:250,000- and 1:63,360-scale USGS Digital Raster Graphic (DRG) mosaic images (GeoTIFF format); 1:250,000- and 1:63,360-scale USGS quadrangle index maps (ESRI Shapefile format); an index map for the 62 QuickBird tiles (ESRI Shapefile format); and a simple polygon layer of the extent of the Barrow QuickBird image area and the Barrow B4 quadrangle area (ESRI Shapefile format). Unmodified QuickBird data comprise 62 data tiles in Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zone 4 in GeoTIFF format. Standard release files describing the QuickBird data are included, along with the DigitalGlobe license agreement and product handbooks. The baseline geospatial data support education, outreach, and multi-disciplinary research of environmental change in Barrow, which is an area of focused scientific interest. Data are provided on four DVDs. This product is available only to investigators funded specifically from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Office of Polar Programs (OPP), Arctic Sciences Section. An NSF OPP award number must be provided when ordering this data.

    This layer represents streams, rivers, and similar linear features that have been defined by the ADEC via qualitative and quantitative data. These features are noted in the 2014/2016 Integrated Report and currently being actively monitored or have institutional controls (TMDLs) in place, and are classified as Category 4a, 4b, or Category 5 under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act (1987). These 2014/2016 Impaired Waters should be used for regulatory purposes.

    BLM Alaska PLSS Intersected: This dataset represents the GIS Version of the Public Land Survey System including both rectangular and non-rectangular surveys. The primary source for the data is cadastral survey records housed by the BLM supplemented with local records and geographic control coordinates from states, counties as well as other federal agencies such as the USGS and USFS. The data has been converted from source documents to digital form and transferred into a GIS format that is compliant with FGDC Cadastral Data Content Standards and Guidelines for publication. This data is optimized for data publication and sharing rather than for specific "production" or operation and maintenance. This data set includes the following: PLSS Fully Intersected (all of the PLSS feature at the atomic or smallest polygon level), PLSS Townships, First Divisions and Second Divisions (the hierarchical break down of the PLSS Rectangular surveys) PLSS Special surveys (non rectangular components of the PLSS) Meandered Water, Corners and Conflicted Areas (known areas of gaps or overlaps between Townships or state boundaries).     This service combines parcel data from various local government bodies in Alaska and describes a subset of input fields using consistent field names. This service was designed for use in statewide applications that only require specific types of land parcel information, and benefit from having this information in a single service with a consistent schema. Any changes to input parcel data will trigger this service to update. Note that many input services do not include a truly unique identifier, or sometimes any identifier at all. The 'parcel_id' field contains a record identifier carried over from the input service, or is null if there is none. The 'local_gov' value of any record can be used to reference an input parcel web service in the table below.During processing, a *mostly unique identifier is created, called 'feature_id'. Duplicate values will occur for records that have identical 'local_gov' and 'parcel_id' values and also identical geometries. These cases are extremely rare (< 0.003%), and for the vast majority of records 'feature_id' is unique.     Data is provided as raster GIS layer in .img format. The project final report is included in the full data download or can be downloaded separately. This map is the outcome of a multi-year project to produce a moderate resolution landcover base map for the North Slope of Alaska to serve as a primary base layer for long-term science and planning activities on the North Slope. New Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) 30 meter resolution landcover maps were produced for the far western arctic, and for the area between the National Petroleum Reserve - Alaska (NPRA) and Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. In the NPRA, an existing land cover map from the 1990's was "crosswalked" to the NSSI land cover map classes, and a large portion of the map was updated using more recently acquired Landsat TM images. The remaining areas of the NSSI land cover map utilized an existing statewide land cover mosaic compiled by the Alaska Natural Heritage Program (AKNHP) that consisted of land cover classes that already matched the NSSI land cover classes and originated primarily from National Park Service (NPS) and U.S. Fish and Wildlife (FWS) land cover maps. Twenty four classes are identified in the map, covering approximately 60 million acres (24.3 million hectares) stretching from the border of Canada to the western arctic coast and from the Arctic Ocean south to the Brooks Range.     This data set is available from the Alaska Department of Natural Resources Division of Oil and Gas and was developed to provide the general public with easy access to oil and gas leasing information. It is not a legal record and is for informational purposes only. Source documents remain the official record. The purpose of areawide leasing is to provide an established time each year that the state will offer for lease all available acreage within five geographical regions: the Alaska Peninsula, Cook Inlet, North Slope, North Slope Foothills and Beaufort Sea. By conducting lease sales at a set time each year, the state will have a stable, predictable leasing program, which will allow companies to plan and develop their exploration strategies and budgets years in advance. The result will be more efficient exploration and earlier development, which will, in turn, benefit the state and its residents. The leasing program is governed by Alaska Statute 38.05.035.     This data release contains the analytical results and evaluated source data files of geospatial analyses for identifying areas in Alaska that may be prospective for different types of lode gold deposits, including orogenic, reduced-intrusion-related, epithermal, and gold-bearing porphyry. The spatial analysis is based on queries of statewide source datasets of aeromagnetic surveys, Alaska Geochemical Database (AGDB3), Alaska Resource Data File (ARDF), and Alaska Geologic Map (SIM3340) within areas defined by 12-digit HUCs (subwatersheds) from the National Watershed Boundary dataset. The packages of files available for download are: 1. LodeGold_Results_gdb.zip - The analytical results in geodatabase polygon feature classes which contain the scores for each source dataset layer query, the accumulative score, and a designation for high, medium, or low potential and high, medium, or low certainty for a deposit type within the HUC. The data is described by FGDC metadata. An mxd file, and cartographic feature classes are provided for display of the results in ArcMap. An included README file describes the complete contents of the zip file. 2. LodeGold_Results_shape.zip - Copies of the results from the geodatabase are also provided in shapefile and CSV formats.     This dataset represents the address point locations assigned by the Mat-Su Borough GIS/Addressing staff. Most of the parcels within the Mat-Su Borough that are road accessible have been assigned a physical address except where the access point is unknown, as with undeveloped corner lots. The address points in this dataset do not necessarily represent precise building locations as the data was originally based on the underlying parcel centroids. Data has historically been constructed and maintained using ArcView and ArcEditor applications. The current address assignment process involves using an ArcMap extension called MapSAG, which creates point features as directed by the GIS Addressing staff. Address information is populated at this time. As underlying parcel data accuracy has been spatially improved through field verification and mapping grade GPS equipment, address points have been shifted accordingly to fall within the appropriate parcels.
