    Finding Schools is now easier than ever with the College Map, the first geographic search tool published by IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) providing access to over 7,000 certificate, undergraduate and graduate-level schools. This all-in-one tool enables students, parents and counselors to filter potential programs for location, major, tuition and more. Including both certificate-level programs and advanced degrees, this public application makes the often overwhelming process of school searching simple, and it’s available on mobile devices.Once the results are narrowed down, users can share their lists on social media or download in excel format. Additionally, the College Map integrates with the College Navigator, a research based search tool providing data from the complete list of IPEDS Survey indicators.All information contained in this file is in the public domain. Data users are advised to review NCES program documentation and feature class metadata to understand the limitations and appropriate use of these data.

    Description

    The College and University Campuses feature class/shapefile is composed of all Post Secondary Education facilities as defined by the Homeland Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data (HIFLD) Colleges and Universities and Supplemental Colleges point feature classes/shapefiles with a POPULATION value greater than or equal to 500. Also included is a subset of campuses with a POPULATION value under 500 or equal to -999. Included are Doctoral/Research Universities, Masters Colleges and Universities, Baccalaureate Colleges, Associates Colleges, Theological seminaries, Medical Schools and other health care professions, Schools of engineering and technology, business and management, art, music, design, Law schools, Teachers colleges, Tribal colleges, and other specialized institutions. Excluded are online institutions and administrative records as well as colleges and universities that do not have a verifiable campus map. Overall, this data layer covers all 50 states, as well as Puerto Rico and other assorted U.S. territories. This feature class/shapefile contains all MEDS/MEDS+ as approved by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Homeland Security Infrastructure Program (HSIP) Team. Complete field and attribute information is available in the ”Entities and Attributes” metadata section. Geographical coverage is depicted in the thumbnail above and detailed in the "Place Keyword" section of the metadata. This feature class does not have a relationship class but is related to Supplemental Colleges and Colleges and Universities. Note that attribution is derived from the Colleges and Universities and Supplemental Colleges feature classes/shapefiles. Refer to the metadata of those feature classes/shapefiles for further information regarding attribution. This release includes 21 new records and the removal of 88 records that are no longer applicable based on the sourced datasets.

    Description

    This dataset attempts to represent the point locations of every educational program in the state of Minnesota that is currently operational and reporting to the Minnesota Department of Education. It can be used to identify schools, various individual school programs, school districts (by office location), colleges, and libraries, among other programs. Please note that not all school programs are statutorily required to report, and many types of programs can be reported at any time of the year, so this dataset is by nature an incomplete snapshot in time.

    Maintenance of these locations are a result of an ongoing project to identify current school program locations where Food and Nutrition Services Office (FNS) programs are utilized. The FNS Office is in the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). GIS staff at MDE maintain the dataset using school program and physical addresses provided by local education authorities (LEAs) for an MDE database called "MDE ORG". MDE GIS staff track weekly changes to program locations, along with comprehensive reviews each summer. All records have been reviewed for accuracy or edited at least once since January 1, 2020.

    Note that there may remain errors due to the number of program locations and inconsistency in reporting from LEAs and other organizations. In particular, some organization types (such as colleges and treatment programs) are not subject to annual reporting requirements, so some records included in this file may in fact be inactive or inaccurately located.

    Note that multiple programs may occur at the same location and are represented as separate records. For example, a junior and a senior high school may be in the same building, but each has a separate record in the data layer. Users leverage the "CLASS" and "ORGTYPE" attributes to filter and sort records according to their needs. In general, records at the same physical address will be located at the same coordinates.

    This data is now available in CSV format. For that format only, OBJECTID and Shape columns are removed, and the Shape column is replaced by Latitude and Longitude columns.

    The Digital Bedrock Geologic-GIS Map of Minuteman National Historical Site and Vicinity, Massachusetts is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (mima_bedrock_geology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (mima_bedrock_geology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). The OGC geopackage is supported with a QGIS project (.qgz) file. Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. Contact Stephanie O'Meara (see contact information below) to acquire the GIS data in these GIS data formats. In addition to the GIS data and supporting GIS files, three additional files comprise a GRI digital geologic-GIS dataset or map: 1.) this file (mima_geology.gis_readme.pdf), 2.) the GRI ancillary map information document (.pdf) file (mima_geology.pdf) which contains geologic unit descriptions, as well as other ancillary map information and graphics from the source map(s) used by the GRI in the production of the GRI digital geologic-GIS data for the park, and 3.) a user-friendly FAQ PDF version of the metadata (mima_bedrock_geology_metadata_faq.pdf).     Description

    In successful geoinformatics education, students’ active role in the learning process, e.g. through applying self-assessment, show an increasing interest but the evidence of benefits and challenges of self-assessment are sporadic. In this article, we examine the usefulness of an online self-assessment tool developed for geoinformatics education. We gathered data in two Finnish universities on five courses (n = 11–73 students/course) between 2019 and 2021. We examined 1) how the students’ self-assessed knowledge and understanding in geoinformatics subject topics changed during a course, 2) how the competencies at the end of a course changed between the years in different courses, and 3) what was the perceived usefulness of the self-assessment approach among the students. The results indicate support for the implementation of self-assessment, both as a formative and summative assessment. However, it is crucial to ensure that the students understand the contents of the self-assessment subject topics. To increase students’ motivation to take a self-assessment, it is crucial that the teacher actively highlights how it supports their studying and learning. As the teachers of the examined courses, we discuss the benefits and challenges of the self-assessment approach and the applied tool for the future development of geoinformatics education.

    This layer serves as an inventory of colleges and universities within Stark County, Ohio. It is part of the Stark County Community Features umbrella of layers, which includes CommunityFeatures, LiveWorkLocate, and EmergencyResponseFacilities. These layers depict places of interest throughout the county, including Airfields and Helipads, Colleges and Universities, Corporate Headquarters, EMS Facilities, Event Venues, Fire Stations, Golf Courses, Hospitals and Health Clinics, Museums and Historic Landmarks, Parks and Recreation Areas, Places of Worship, Police Stations, Post Offices, Public Libraries, Retail Centers, Schools and Daycares, and Senior Citizen Centers. These "community features" were first inventoried and digitized by the Stark County Regional Planning Commission (RPC) in 2008. The initial inventory was a collaborative effort between RPC and each community within the county, who provided lists of their respective features. Since then, each layer is periodically updated by RPC and Stark County GIS.

    This point datalayer contains the location of community health centers (CHCs) in Massachusetts. The layer was produced by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MA DPH) Center for Environmental Health (CEH) GIS program. The source material was provided by Tina Ford Wright, Publications and Marketing Assistant, Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, a.k.a. "the League," (http://www.massleague.org). The League defines a community health center as a non-profit community-based organization that offers comprehensive primary and preventive health care, including medical, social and/or mental health services, to anyone in need regardless of their medical status, ability to pay, culture or ethnicity.CHCs are grouped into Main and Satellite locations. Main CHCs may have one or more satellite locations (also known as access points). The MCHC_CODE item defines the affiliation between main CHCs and their satellites.

    CHCs vary by both the facility and/or building type in which they are located, scope of clinical services offered, and target patient population(s). The CEH GIS program used the MassGIS Hospitals, Schools, Colleges and Universities, and Prisons datalayers, and Internet Web sites in the case of homeless shelters, to derive the locations of health centers in these facilities. Health centers known to be administrative offices are attributed accordingly. With respect to clinical services, this GIS datalayer makes no distinction among CHCs. An exception is eye care and dental service providers that are indicated in the EYE and DENTAL fields. No information regarding target patient populations is explicitly defined, though assumptions may be based on health center name and/or location.

    In all cases, patients seeking care should contact the CHCs directly to verify availability of clinical services, hours, etc., rather than rely on the information contained in this GIS datalayer, as such information is subject to change.

    This map shows the percent of adults (25+) who have completed some college, but do not hold a degree - ideal places to implement college completion programs. For example, Texas implemented a state-wide program called GradTX aimed at helping stop-outs finish what they started. Other states such as Colorado and Florida have reverse transfer programs. An all-too common situation is that students take enough credits to successfully transfer from a 2-year college to a 4-year college, but do not attain an associate degree. Life happens and these transfer students do not graduate from the 4-year college, however, they have completed an additional semester or more of college credits. Reverse transfer programs allow these students to transfer these credits earned at the 4-year college back to the 2-year college in order to receive an associate degree. This map uses these hosted feature layers containing the most recent American Community Survey data. These layers are part of the ArcGIS Living Atlas, and are updated every year when the American Community Survey releases new estimates, so values in the map always reflect the newest data available.

The Schools K-12 feature class is a combination of 9 feature classes that have school aged children attending. The feature classes included in the Schools K-12 feature class include: Public K-12, Private K-12, Charter K-12, State Operated Schools, BOCES, Other Schools for Students with Disabilities, Kindergartens All Buildings, Non IMF Public and Private Institutions, and Schools for At Risk Youth. The Other feature classes include Proprietary, Approved Preschool Programs for SWD, Colleges, District Offices, Feeding Sites, and Libraries.     This CD presents maps derived from a subset of the National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) Hydrogeochemical and Stream Sediment Reconnaissance (HSSR) data. Approxiamately 260,000 samples were analyzed in the continental U.S. and consisted of solid samples, including stream, lake, pond, spring, and playa sediments, and soils. Data for eleven elements were analyzed and included on this release of the National Geochemical Atlas CD: Na, Ti, Fe, Cu, Zn, As, Ce, Hf, Pb, Th, and U. The National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) program of the Department of Energy (DOE) collected a vast amount of chemical data on sediment, soil, and water samples from the United States in the late 1970's and early 1980's. This element of the NURE program was known as the Hydrogeochemical and Stream Sediment Reconnaissance (HSSR). The NURE HSSR data have long been available to the public in a variety of formats, ranging from the original paper reports produced by the DOE (see Averett, 1984), to comprehensive digital releases on CD-ROM by the U.S. Geological Survey in the last few years (Hoffman and Buttleman, 1994; 1996), to digital releases on the Internet of reformatted and cleaned data (Smith, 1998). While these publications remain the best sources of the complete, primary data, and are accompanied by documentation of the sampling protocols, sample characteristics, and analytical methods, they are difficult to use for geochemical research, especially when the study area covers a wide area of the United States. This publication is intended to allow the rapid visualization of the geochemical landscape of the United States using the NURE HSSR data. Here, the user is relieved of the responsibility of selecting and processing the raw data; this was done in the preparation of the CD. A powerful geographic-information system (GIS) tool, the ArcView program of Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI), is provided to allow one to probe and manipulate the processed NURE data. Within the ArcView environment, multiple presentations of the NURE are provided, ranging from color-coded point maps, to bitmap-images on a national scale, to interpreted maps based on geologic and hydrologic units. Because the NURE HSSR data have been processed by the author for the production of this CD, the user must use a degree of caution in interpreting the maps produced here, and in using the data files found on the disc. One must understand the methods used in deriving the data on this CD in order to judge the significance of any particular map or data feature. Fortunately, the raw data used in the production of this CD are available in digital form (Hoffman and Buttleman, 1996), for examination by sophisticated users.

Finding Schools is now easier than ever with the College Map, the first geographic search tool published by IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) providing access to over 7,000 certificate, undergraduate and graduate-level schools. This all-in-one tool enables students, parents and counselors to filter potential programs for location, major, tuition and more. Including both certificate-level programs and advanced degrees, this public application makes the often overwhelming process of school searching simple, and it’s available on mobile devices.Once the results are narrowed down, users can share their lists on social media or download in excel format. Additionally, the College Map integrates with the College Navigator, a research based search tool providing data from the complete list of IPEDS Survey indicators.All information contained in this file is in the public domain. Data users are advised to review NCES program documentation and feature class metadata to understand the limitations and appropriate use of these data.
