This dataset contains points representing Metro Stations within the District of Columbia. Station centroids were identified from visual observation of orthophotography and extracted from the planimetric data.
Metro Stations (regional). The dataset contains points representing locations and attributes of Metro stations, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies. Platform centroids were identified from visual observation of orthophotography and extracted planimetric data. Centroids were heads-up digitized from the snapbase. All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.
Metro Station Entrances (regional). This dataset contains points representing Metro facilities, created as part of the DC Geographic Information System (DC GIS) for the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) and participating D.C. government agencies. Station centroids were identified from visual observation of orthophotography and extracted from the planimetric data and a centroid for each entrance was heads-up digitized from the snapbase. All DC GIS data is stored and exported in Maryland State Plane coordinates NAD 83 meters.

At the July 3, 2012 Loudoun Board of Supervisor's Business Meeting, the Board agreed to be a funding partner with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) and Fairfax County for the Phase II extension of Metrorail to Dulles Airport and Ashburn. Loudoun County’s rail service districts were established on December 5, 2012 to fund the construction and maintenance of the stations, rail line, and rail related facilities and services. All parcels in the districts, residential and commercial, have a special property tax rate for funding of the rail. Tax collection for the districts is for Tax Year 2013 and future years. The boundaries of the Metrorail Service District were defined using physical features such as major roads and streams within two miles of stations. In some cases, parcel boundaries were used to develop the tax district boundary. The Route 606/Airport and Route 772 station service districts were defined using half-mile radii around the four proposed rail stations in or near Loudoun County: 1) Route 772, 2) Route 606, 3) Dulles Airport, and 4) Route 28. These radii were used as approximate guidelines. At the time the districts were established, the districts encompassed primarily commercial land. Only a few existing residential units were included within these districts at the time the districts were established.**The features the boundaries follow may have been generalized due to scale and intended use.**
This data set contains all Virginia Railway Express (VRE) stations in Virginia. The data set was originally obtained from the Metro Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) GIS data clearinghouse and snapped to the Fairfax County railroad data set using 2002 aerial photography as a background. This data set was created to display all VRE stations in Virginia only and can be used in conjunction with the railroad data set.

The dataset contains a subset of locations and attributes of incidents reported in the ASAP (Analytical Services Application) crime report database by the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). Visit crimecards.dc.gov for more information. This data is shared via an automated process where addresses are geocoded to the District's Master Address Repository and assigned to the appropriate street block. Block locations for some crime points could not be automatically assigned resulting in 0,0 for x,y coordinates. These can be interactively assigned using the MAR Geocoder. On February 1 2020, the methodology of geography assignments of crime data was modified to increase accuracy. From January 1 2020 going forward, all crime data will have Ward, ANC, SMD, BID, Neighborhood Cluster, Voting Precinct, Block Group and Census Tract values calculated prior to, rather than after, anonymization to the block level. This change impacts approximately one percent of Ward assignments.
