Expands the use of internal data for creating Geographic Information System (GIS) maps. SSA's Database Systems division developed a map users guide for GIS data object publishing and was made available in an internal Sharepoint site for access throughout the agency. The guide acts as the reference for publishers of GIS objects across the life-cycle in our single, central geodatabase implementation.

Esri's ArcGIS Online tools provide three methods of filtering larger datasets using attribute or geospatial information that are a part of each individual dataset. These instructions provide a basic overview of the step a GeoHub end user can take to filter out unnecessary data or to specifically hone in a particular location to find data related to this location and download the specific information filtered through the search bar, as seen on the map or using the attribute filters in the Data tab.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Geospatial Open Data provides shared and trusted USACE geospatial data, services and applications for use by our partner agencies and the public.

HEPGIS is a web-based interactive geographic map server that allows users to navigate and view geo-spatial data, print maps, and obtain data on specific features using only a web browser. It includes geo-spatial data used for transportation planning. HEPGIS previously received ARRA funding for development of Economically distressed Area maps. It is also being used to demonstrate emerging trends to address MPO and statewide planning regulations/requirements , enhanced National Highway System, Primary Freight Networks, commodity flows and safety data . HEPGIS has been used to help implement MAP-21 regulations and will help implement the Grow America Act, particularly related to Ladder of Opportunities and MPO reforms.

GIS data is available on the Forest’s FTP site in the form of “shape files” or layers and is available free for downloading. To utilize these data layers you will need a program that uses the Geographic Information System (GIS) such as ESRI’s ArcMap, ArcView or the free map reading program ArcGIS Explorer. ArcGIS Explorer has tools that let you zoom in/out, print the map, and query data. It also has map tips to identify features, and a help menu. ArcGIS Explorer is available as a free download from the ESRI website. Included is a list of GIS data files available for the Shawnee National Forest. These GIS data files are updated on a continuing basis. It should be noted that this data may have been developed from sources of differing accuracy, accurate only at certain scales, based on modeling or interpretation, or incomplete while being created or revised. Overall accuracy, completeness and timeliness may vary. The following geospatial information/data was prepared by the Shawnee National Forests (US Forest Service). Clark County GIS maintains an extensive GIS data library and updates the library on a weekly basis. The most popular GIS data that we maintain are available to download in two separate zip files. Each zip file contains a variety of popular GIS data in Esri shapefile format.

TIGER/Line Shapefiles contain current geographic extent and boundaries of both legal and statistical entities (which have no governmental standing) for the United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Island areas. Feature shapefiles represent the point, line, and polygon features in the MTDB (e.g., roads and rivers). Relationship files contain additional attribute information users can join to the shapefiles. Both the feature shapefiles and relationship files reflect updates made in the database. This map is one of a series of soil landscape maps that are intended for all of eastern and central NSW, based on standard 1:100,000 or 1:250,000 topographic sheets. The map provides an inventory of soil and landscape properties of the Blackville area and identifies major soil and landscape qualities and constraints. It integrates soil and topographic features into single units with relatively uniform land management requirements. Soils are described in terms of soil materials in addition to Australian Soil Classification and Great Soil Group systems. Related Datasets: The dataset area is also covered by the mapping of the Soil and Land Resources of the Liverpool Plains Catchment and Hydrogeological landscapes of NSW. Online Maps: This and related datasets can be viewed using eSPADE (NSW’s soil spatial viewer), which contains a suite of soil and landscape information including soil profile data. Many of these datasets have hot-linked soil reports. An alternative viewer is the SEED Map; an ideal way to see what other natural resources datasets (e.g. vegetation) are available for this map area. This map layer depicts the Sierra Nevada Conservancy's, Watershed Improvement Program Administrative Boundaries, which are known as Watershed Assessment Areas (AA) including the Tahoe Basin, which is not located within the SNC's boundary.
