    Description

This dataset contains model-based place (incorporated and census designated places) level estimates for the PLACES 2022 release in GIS-friendly format. PLACES covers the entire United States—50 states and the District of Columbia (DC)—at county, place, census tract, and ZIP Code Tabulation Area levels. It provides information uniformly on this large scale for local areas at 4 geographic levels. Estimates were provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Population Health, Epidemiology and Surveillance Branch. PLACES was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in conjunction with the CDC Foundation. Data sources used to generate these model-based estimates include Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) 2020 or 2019 data, Census Bureau 2010 population estimates, and American Community Survey (ACS) 2015–2019 estimates. The 2022 release uses 2020 BRFSS data for 25 measures and 2019 BRFSS data for 4 measures (high blood pressure, taking high blood pressure medication, high cholesterol, and cholesterol screening) that the survey collects data on every other year. These data can be joined with the 2019 Census TIGER/Line place boundary file in a GIS system to produce maps for 29 measures at the place level. An ArcGIS Online feature service is also available for users to make maps online or to add data to desktop GIS software. https://cdcarcgis.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=3b7221d4e47740cab9235b839fa55cd7

    Description

This data set contains small-scale base GIS data layers compiled by the National Park Service Servicewide Inventory and Monitoring Program and Water Resources Division for use in a Baseline Water Quality Data Inventory and Analysis Report that was prepared for the park. The report presents the results of surface water quality data retrievals for the park from six of the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) national databases: (1) Storage and Retrieval (STORET) water quality database management system; (2) River Reach File (RF3) Hydrography; (3) Industrial Facilities Discharges; (4) Drinking Water Supplies; (5) Water Gages; and (6) Water Impoundments. The small-scale GIS data layers were used to prepare the maps included in the report that depict the locations of water quality monitoring stations, industrial discharges, drinking intakes, water gages, and water impoundments. The data layers included in the maps (and this dataset) vary depending on availability, but generally include roads, hydrography, political boundaries, USGS 7.5' minute quadrangle outlines, hydrologic units, trails, and others as appropriate. The scales of each layer vary depending on data source but are generally 1:100,000.

    Description

Spring, summer and winter seasonal use areas are mapped by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for Idaho. Idaho SUAs are a generalized set of polygons representing spring, summer, and winter habitat for Greater Sage-Grouse. The IDF&G habitat suitability index (HSI) model was used as a starting point, which was built using a species distribution modeling technique known as maximum entropy, or Maxent. The program Maxent uses known point locations (e.g. VHF and GPS telemetry points) and a suite of habitat predictor variables (GIS layers) to characterize conditions of occupied habitat. We selected habitat variables related to vegetation type, percent cover, topography, and landscape context (e.g., how much of the landscape has at least 10 percent sagebrush cover). Maxent models the set of conditions that are typically found at the training points, then applies that model to the full landscape, creating a wall-to-wall estimate of habitat suitability based on how similar conditions are to occupied habitat.

    Description

eXtension Foundation, the University of New Hampshire, and Virginia Tech have developed a mapping and data exploration tool to assist Cooperative Extension staff and administrators in making strategic planning and programming decisions. The tool, called the National Extension Web-mapping Tool (or NEWT), is the key in efforts to make spatial data available within cooperative extension system. NEWT requires no GIS experience to use. NEWT provides access for CES staff and administrators to relevant spatial data at a variety of scales (national, state, county) in useful formats (maps, tables, graphs), all without the need for any experience or technical skills in Geographic Information System (GIS) software. By providing consistent access to relevant spatial data throughout the country in a format useful to CES staff and administrators, NEWT represents a significant advancement for the use of spatial technology in CES. Users of the site will be able to discover the data layers which are of most interest to them by making simple, guided choices about topics related to their work. Once the relevant data layers have been chosen, a mapping interface will allow the exploration of spatial relationships and the creation and export of maps. Extension areas to filter searches include 4-H Youth & Family, Agriculture, Business, Community, Food & Health, and Natural Resources. Users will also be able to explore data by viewing data tables and graphs. This Beta release is open for public use and feedback. Resources in this dataset:Resource Title: Website Pointer to NEWT National Extension Web-mapping Tool Beta. File Name: Web Page, url: https://www.mapasyst.org/newt/ The site leads the user through the process of selecting the data in which they would be most interested, then provides a variety of ways for the user to explore the data (maps, graphs, tables).

    Description

BLM NV PLSS First Division: This dataset represents the GIS Version of the Public Land Survey System including both rectangular and non-rectangular surveys. The primary source for the data is cadastral survey records housed by the BLM supplemented with local records and geographic control coordinates from states, counties as well as other federal agencies such as the USGS and USFS. The data has been converted from source documents to digital form and transferred into a GIS format that is compliant with FGDC Cadastral Data Content Standards and Guidelines for publication. This data is optimized for data publication and sharing rather than for specific "production" or operation and maintenance. This data set includes the following: PLSS Fully Intersected (all of the PLSS feature at the atomic or smallest polygon level), PLSS Townships, First Divisions and Second Divisions (the hierarchical break down of the PLSS Rectangular surveys) PLSS Special surveys (non rectangular components of the PLSS) Meandered Water, Corners and Conflicted Areas (known areas of gaps or overlaps between Townships or state boundaries). The Entity-Attribute section of this metadata describes these components in greater detail.

    Description

The Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership is a voluntary federal-state enterprise created for the purpose of merging employee, and employer data to provide a set of enhanced labor market statistics known collectively as Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI). The QWI are a set of economic indicators including employment, job creation, earnings, and other measures of employment flows. For the purposes of this dataset, LED data for 2018 is aggregated to Census Summary Level 070 (State + County + County Subdivision + Place/Remainder), and joined with the Emergency Solutions Grantee (ESG) areas spatial dataset for FY2018. The Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG), formally the Emergency Shelter Grants, program is designed to identify sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons, as well as those at risk of homelessness, and provide the services necessary to help those persons quickly regain stability in permanent housing after experiencing a housing crisis and/or homelessness. The ESG is a non-competitive formula grant awarded to recipients which are state governments, large cities, urban counties, and U.S. territories. Recipients make these funds available to eligible sub-recipients, which can be either local government agencies or private nonprofit organizations. The recipient agencies and organizations, which actually run the homeless assistance projects, apply for ESG funds to the governmental grantee, and not directly to HUD. Please note that this version of the data does not include Community Planning and Development (CPD) entitlement grantees. LED data for CPD entitlement areas can be obtained from the LED for CDBG Grantee Areas feature service.
