    Description

    The Digital Geologic-GIS Map of the Mammoth Cave Quadrangle, Kentucky is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (macv_geology.gdb), and a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (macv_geology.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (macv_geology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. Contact Stephanie O'Meara (see contact information below) to acquire the GIS data in these GIS data formats. In addition to the GIS data and supporting GIS files, three additional files comprise a GRI digital geologic-GIS dataset or map: 1.) a readme file (maca_abli_geology_gis_readme.pdf), 2.) the GRI ancillary map information document (.pdf) file (maca_abli_geology.pdf) which contains geologic unit descriptions, as well as other ancillary map information and graphics from the source map(s) used by the GRI in the production of the GRI digital geologic-GIS data for the park, and 3.) a user-friendly FAQ PDF version of the metadata (macv_geology_metadata_faq.pdf).     The Digital Geomorphic-GIS Map of Gulf Islands National Seashore (5-meter accuracy and 1-foot resolution 2006-2007 mapping), Mississippi and Florida is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (guis_geomorphology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information.     CDFW BIOS GIS Dataset, Contact: Erin Zulliger, Description: Migration corridor, stopover, and winter range locations for Rocky Mountain elk (Cervus canadensis nelsoni) from the East Shasta Valley herd, Siskiyou County, California, and Klamath County, Oregon. Corridors, stopovers, and winter ranges were developed in Migration Mapper with Brownian Bridge Movement Models using GPS locations from collared elk. Migration corridors represent movement routes used by elk between winter and summer range habitats.

    Description

    Advancing Research on Nutrition and Agriculture (AReNA) is a 6-year, multi-country project in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, being implemented from 2015 through 2020. The objective of AReNA is to close important knowledge gaps on the links between nutrition and agriculture, with a particular focus on conducting policy-relevant research at scale and crowding in more research on this issue by creating data sets and analytical tools that can benefit the broader research community. Much of the research on agriculture and nutrition is hindered by a lack of data, and many of the datasets that do contain both agriculture and nutrition information are often small in size and geographic scope. AReNA team constructed a large multi-level, multi-country dataset combining nutrition and nutrition-relevant information at the individual and household level from the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) with a wide variety of geo-referenced data on agricultural production, agroecology, climate, demography, and infrastructure (GIS data). This dataset includes 60 countries, 184 DHS, and 122,473 clusters. Over one thousand geospatial variables are linked with DHS. The entire dataset is organized into 13 individual files: DHS_distance, DHS_livestock, DHS_main, DHS_malaria, DHS NDVI, DHS_nightlight, DHS_pasture and climate (mean), DHS_rainfall, DHS_soil, DHS_SPAM, DHS_suit, DHS_temperature, and DHS_traveltime.

    Description

    The Raster Based GIS Coverage of Mexican Population is a gridded coverage (1 x 1 km) of Mexican population. The data were converted from vector into raster. The population figures were derived based on available point data (the population of known localities - 30,000 in all). Cell values were derived using a weighted moving average function (Burrough, 1986), and then calculated based on known population by state. The result from this conversion is a coverage whose population data is based on square grid cells rather than a series of vectors. This data set is produced by the Columbia University Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) in collaboration with the Instituto Nacional de Estadistica Geografia e Informatica (INEGI).

    Some of the finest mountain scenery in the Southwest is found in the 1.6-million-acre Santa Fe National Forest. Here, you can find the headwaters of Pecos, Jemez, and Gallinas Rivers; mountain streams; lakes; and trout fishing. Travel into Pecos, San Pedro Parks, Chama, and Dome Wildernesses via wilderness pack trips, saddle, or on 1,000 miles of hiking trails. Try whitewater rafting on the Rio Chama or Rio Grande from May to September. Consider turkey, elk, deer, and bear hunting, or visit one of many nearby Indian pueblos, Spanish missions, and Indian ruins. Golden aspen grace the high country from September to October and snow blankets Santa Fe Ski Basin in winter.     A vector GIS dataset of candidate areas for terrestrial ecological restoration based on landscape context. The dataset was created using NLCD 2011 (www.mrlc.gov) and morphological spatial pattern analysis (MSPA) (http://forest.jrc.ec.europa.eu/download/software/guidos/mspa/).     Last Update: 10/10/2025The statewide roads dataset is a multi-purpose statewide roads dataset for cartography and range based-address location. This dataset is also used as the base geometry for deriving the GIS-representation of UDOT's highway linear referencing system (LRS). A network analysis dataset for route-finding can also be derived from this dataset.This dataset utilizes a data model based on Next-Generation 911 standards and the Federal Highway Administration's All Roads Network Of Linear-referenced Data (ARNOLD) reporting requirements for state DOTs. UGRC adopted this data model on September 13th, 2017.The statewide roads dataset is maintained by UGRC in partnership with local governments, the Utah 911 Committee, and UDOT. This dataset is updated monthly with Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, Washington and Weber represented every month, along with additional counties based on an annual update schedule. UGRC obtains the data from the authoritative data source (typically county agencies), projects the data and attributes into the current data model, spatially assigns polygon-based fields based on the appropriate SGID boundary, and then standardizes the attribute values to ensure statewide consistency. UGRC also generates a UNIQUE_ID field based on the segment's location in the US National Grid, with the street name then tacked on. The UNIQUE_ID field is static and is UGRC's current, ad hoc solution to a persistent global id.     New Orleans Dataset for GRASS GIS This geospatial dataset contains raster and vector data for New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. The top level directory new-orleans-dataset is a GRASS GIS location for the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83) / Louisiana South State Plane Feet with EPSG code 3452. Inside the location there are the PERMANENT mapset with citywide data, a vieux_carre mapset with data for the French Quarter, Python scripts for data processing, data records, a color table, a license file, and readme file.

    Instructions Install GRASS GIS, unzip this archive, and move the location into your GRASS GIS database directory. If you are new to GRASS GIS read the first time users guide.

    [Metadata] Description: Land Use Land Cover of main Hawaiian Islands as of 1976

    Source: 1:100,000 1976 Digital GIRAS (Geographic Information Retrieval and Analysis) files.

    Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) data consists of historical land use and land cover classification data that was based primarily on the manual interpretation of 1970's and 1980's aerial photography. Secondary sources included land use maps and surveys. There are 21 possible categories of cover type. The spatial resolution for all LULC files will depend on the format and feature type. Files in GIRAS format will have a minimum polygon area of 10 acres (4 hectares) with a minimum width of 660 feet (200 meters) for manmade features. Non-urban or natural features have a minimum polygon area of 40 acres (16 hectares) with a minimum width of 1320 feet (400 meters). Files in CTG format will have a resolution of 30 meters.

    May 2024: Hawaii Statewide GIS Program staff removed extraneous fields that had been added as part of the 2016 GIS database conversion and were no longer needed.

    Description

    The Digital Geologic-GIS Map of Santa Rosa Island, California is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (sris_geology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (sris_geology.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (sris_geology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). The OGC geopackage is supported with a QGIS project (.qgz) file. Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. Contact Stephanie O'Meara (see contact information below) to acquire the GIS data in these GIS data formats. In addition to the GIS data and supporting GIS files, three additional files comprise a GRI digital geologic-GIS dataset or map: 1.) this file (chis_geology_gis_readme.pdf), 2.) the GRI ancillary map information document (.pdf) file (chis_geology.pdf) which contains geologic unit descriptions, as well as other ancillary map information and graphics from the source map(s) used by the GRI in the production of the GRI digital geologic-GIS data for the park, and 3.) a user-friendly FAQ PDF version of the metadata (sris_geology_metadata_faq.pdf).
