This boundary layer shows all 92 provincial parks and one park reserve in Manitoba. The Manitoba Parks dataset is current to June 16, 2017.Manitoba’s provincial parks and park reserves form the provincial park system. The purposes of this system are defined in The Provincial Parks Act. The system is intended to:a) conserve ecosystems and maintain biodiversityb) preserve unique and representative natural, cultural and heritage resourcesc) provide outdoor recreational and educational opportunities and experiences in a natural setting.All provincial parks in Manitoba are classified according to the purpose and management of the park. The establishment of new Indigenous traditional use parks is based upon proposals put forward by Indigenous Peoples and the significance of these sites as traditional use areas.4. RECREATION PARKSRecreation parks provide outdoor recreation opportunities in a natural setting. The establishment of new recreation parks is based on an assessment of recreational needs, economic viability and existing community services.5. HERITAGE PARKSHeritage parks preserve unique and representative cultural and heritage resources of outstanding provincial significance. Partnerships with heritage groups and communities are essential to the creation of heritage parks.PARK RESERVESTo assist in the creation of new parks and protected areas, The Provincial Parks Act also provides for the establishment of park reserves. The park reserve status provides for interim protection of areas under consideration. This dataset is comprised of boundary geometry representing the Development Plan Designations for all of the Development Plan bylaws (as defined in The Planning Act) in force and effect within the Province of Manitoba. Spatial referencing of the designations is based on the best available land parcel data for each municipality. Where available, land parcel data based on registered survey plans and ground control coordinates was used. Otherwise, the reference grid maintained by Manitoba Sustainable Development was used. The delineation of the boundaries is set by the bylaw establishing or amending the boundary of each designation. Dataset content is subject to: Ongoing changes in designated areas which are determined by amendments to adopted Development Plans or the adoption of new Development Plans. Ongoing development and maintenance of the land parcel datasets. Improvements to the land parcel data are used to improve the positional accuracy of the Development Plan designation polygons. This polygon dataset shows First Nation land acquisitions designated as Other Land as outlined by the Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE) Agreements in Manitoba, pursuant to the Crown Lands Act 5(1)(d). The purpose of this dataset is to show geographic boundaries for land acquisitions designated as Other Land, as outlined by the Treaty Land Entitlement (TLE) Agreements in Manitoba, pursuant to the Crown Lands Act 5(1)(d). This is a dynamic dataset - data can change daily.Other Land includes land that has been purchased by the First Nations from private landowners or Surplus Provincial or Surplus Federal land that has been purchased from the Manitoba or Canada governments. The title to the land is privately held by a First Nation corporation until it gets transferred to the Government of Canada, however the mines and minerals and other residual interests may be owned by the Crown (Government of Manitoba) and they are required to be transferred to the Government of Canada (subject to third party interest resolution, if applicable).The sites are generally identified by title with reference to a plan of survey, metes and bounds description. Within Manitoba there are five Regional Health Authorities (or "RHAs") responsible for the delivery of health service in five specific areas of the province described as "health regions". (In practice, the terms "health region" and "RHA" are used interchangeably to describe these geographic areas.) In consultation with Manitoba Health, Healthy Living and Seniors, and with the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy, each of the RHAs has defined further subdivisions within each RHA . These sub-areas of each RHA generally correspond to areas of clustered population and/or service delivery. They are used to plan service delivery, and are also used to describe and analyze population health and health service use with more specificity than analysis at the RHA level could provide.Due to the size and the total population of Manitoba's RHAs, there are two levels of subdivided RHA geography which are used for analytical and planning purposes. The smallest subdivisions used for this purpose are RHA Districts. RHA Districts within an RHA are also grouped into larger sub-areas with the RHA called RHA Zones, within each RHA District within an RHA included in precisely one of these zone.This shapefile contains the boundaries of Manitoba's RHA districts.

The purpose of this dataset is to provide a geographical location (in decimal degrees to the nearest second) for all officially named geographical features within the Province of Manitoba, as per the Manitoba Geographical Names Program.The program’s mission is to: “embrace the active preservation of the province’s culture through its toponymy, and provides a naming authority for the enhancement, maintenance, dissemination, and protection of Manitoba’s geographical nomenclature recognizing the integral role geographical names play in our daily lives including their essential value to our scientific, commercial, and economic world.” As part of the program, staff administer and maintain all nomenclature records, an automated names information system, a resource library and archives, supplementary name location maps, a bibliography of name studies, and a commemorative names project. This database contains lines and polygons showing the locations of provincial waterways, such as drains, dikes, diversions, detention basins, floodways, dams and reservoirs. This dataset was created by digitizing high-resolution imagery of the water features and by digitizing the titled Water Control Work plans associated with the features for drains which have been designated as provincial waterways by Order-in-Council.This dataset was created to provide a record of the designated Provincial Waterways in Manitoba and was intended for use in administering Provincial Waterways Authorizations. Provincial Waterways are designated by Order-in-Council and are under the administration and control of Manitoba Infrastructure (MI) through the Water Resource Administration Act.

W130). Special Conservation Areas are designated to conserve and protect particular species and habitats throughout Manitoba. The Use of Wildlife Lands Regulation (77/99) determines prohibited activities in each Special Conservation Area.Wildlife Management Areas: This polygon layer shows the boundaries of all Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) in Manitoba, as designated by the Designation of Wildlife Lands Regulation (171/2001), under The Wildlife Act (C.C.S.M. c. W130). The Manitoba Wildlife Act provides for the designation of Crown lands as Wildlife Management Areas for the "better management, conservation and enhancement of the wildlife resource of the province." Wildlife Management Areas exist for the benefit of wildlife and for people's enjoyment. They play an important role in biodiversity conservation and provide for a variety of wildlife-related forms of recreation. Hunting and trapping are generally permitted in WMAs, but these activities may be prohibited or restricted in a few areas. The use of vehicles, off-road vehicles, watercraft, power boats, or airboats, may be restricted in some areas. Each WMA has its own set of restrictions in place to protect the integrity of the area.Managed Hunting Areas: This polygon layer shows the boundaries of Managed Hunting Areas and Animal Control Areas as designated by the Hunting Areas and Zones Regulation (220/86) and the Designation of Wildlife Lands Regulation (171/2001), under The Wildlife Act (C.C.S.M. c. W130). Managed Hunting Areas provide safer hunting experiences by distributing hunting pressure and ensuring that hunting only takes place on private land with the permission of the owner or lawful occupant, or on designated Crown land areas. The Managed Hunting Areas Regulation (146/2002) determines what activities are permitted, prohibited, and restricted in Managed Hunting Areas. Lands can be designated as Animal Control Areas for the purpose of wildlife management, wildlife research, protection of property or any other purpose deemed to be in the public interest. The Use of Wildlife Lands Regulation (77/99) determines prohibited activities in Animal Control Areas.Wildlife Management Area Official Trails and Points of Interest: This dataset shows official trails and points of interest within Wildlife Management Areas in Manitoba.Near-Urban Centrefire Prohibition Area: The Near-Urban Centrefire Prohibition Area (NUCPA) is a provincially-regulated prohibition of centrefire rifles for white-tailed deer hunting. This prohibition encompasses all or portions of the Rural Municipalities (RMs) of Headingley, Rosser, Rockwood, St. Andrews, West St. Paul, East St. Paul, St. Clements and Richot. Under the General Hunting Regulation (351/87) of The Wildlife Act (c. W130), no person shall have a rifle requiring a centrefire cartridge in his or her possession while hunting deer in lands identified as a Near Urban Wildlife Zone on Plan No. 20350 or 20525 filed in the office of the Director of Surveys.Game Hunting Areas: Game Hunting Areas (GHAs) are defined under the Hunting Areas and Zones Regulation (220/86) of The Wildlife Act (CCSM c. W130). Game Hunting Areas are used to support boundaries for species-specific hunting seasons, harvest allocations, bag limits and associated regulations.
