    Description

The Digital Bedrock Geologic-GIS Map of Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial and Vicinity, Indiana is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables, and is available in the following GRI-supported GIS data formats: 1.) a 10.1 file geodatabase (libo_bedrock_geology.gdb), a 2.) Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geopackage, and 3.) 2.2 KMZ/KML file for use in Google Earth, however, this format version of the map is limited in data layers presented and in access to GRI ancillary table information. The file geodatabase format is supported with a 1.) ArcGIS Pro map file (.mapx) file (libo_bedrock_geology.mapx) and individual Pro layer (.lyrx) files (for each GIS data layer), as well as with a 2.) 10.1 ArcMap (.mxd) map document (libo_bedrock_geology.mxd) and individual 10.1 layer (.lyr) files (for each GIS data layer). The OGC geopackage is supported with a QGIS project (.qgz) file. Upon request, the GIS data is also available in ESRI 10.1 shapefile format. Contact Stephanie O'Meara (see contact information below) to acquire the GIS data in these GIS data formats. In addition to the GIS data and supporting GIS files, three additional files comprise a GRI digital geologic-GIS dataset or map: 1.) a readme file (libo_geology_gis_readme.pdf), 2.) the GRI ancillary map information document (.pdf) file (libo_bedrock_geology.pdf) which contains geologic unit descriptions, as well as other ancillary map information and graphics from the source map(s) used by the GRI in the production of the GRI digital geologic-GIS data for the park, and 3.) a user-friendly FAQ PDF version of the metadata (libo_bedrock_geology_metadata_faq.pdf). Please read the libo_geology_gis_readme.pdf for information pertaining to the proper extraction of the GIS data and other map files. Google Earth software is available for free at: https://www.google.com/earth/versions/. QGIS software is available for free at: https://www.qgis.org/en/site/. Description

The Charted Territory Map (World Edition) web map provides a customized world basemap uniquely symbolized. It takes its inspiration from a printed atlas plate and pull-down scholastic classroom maps. The map emphasizes the geographic and political features in the design. The use of country level polygons are preassigned with eight different colors. It also includes the global graticule features as well as landform labels of physical features and hillshade. This basemap, included in the ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World, uses the Charted Territory vector tile layer and World Hillshade. The vector tile layer in this web map is built using the same data sources used for other Esri Vector Basemaps. For details on data sources contributed by the GIS community, view the map of Community Maps Basemap Contributors. Esri Vector Basemaps are updated monthly.Use this MapThis map is designed to be used as a basemap for overlaying other layers of information or as a stand-alone reference map. You can add layers to this web map and save as your own map. If you like, you can add this web map to a custom basemap gallery for others in your organization to use in creating web maps. If you would like to add this map as a layer in other maps you are creating, you may use the layers referenced in this map.

    Description

The files linked to this reference are the geospatial data created as part of the completion of the baseline vegetation inventory project for the NPS park unit. Current format is ArcGIS file geodatabase but older formats may exist as shapefiles. We converted the photointerpreted data into a GIS-usable format employing three fundamental processes: (1) orthorectify, (2) digitize, and (3) develop the geodatabase. All digital map automation was projected in Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection, Zone 16, using North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83). To produce a polygon vector layer for use in ArcGIS, we converted each raster-based image mosaic of orthorectified overlays containing the photointerpreted data into a grid format using ArcGIS (Version 9.2, © 2006 Environmental Systems Research Institute, Redlands, California). In ArcGIS, we used the ArcScan extension to trace the raster data and produce ESRI shapefiles. We digitally assigned map attribute codes (both map class codes and physiognomic modifier codes) to the polygons, and checked the digital data against the photointerpreted overlays for line and attribute consistency. Ultimately, we merged the individual layers into a seamless layer of INDU and immediate environs. At this stage, the map layer has only map attribute codes assigned to each polygon. To assign meaningful information to each polygon (e.g., map class names, physiognomic definitions, link to NVC association and alliance codes), we produced a feature class table along with other supportive tables and subsequently related them together via an ArcGIS Geodatabase. This geodatabase also links the map to other feature class layers produced from this project, including vegetation sample plots, accuracy assessment sites, and project boundary extent. A geodatabase provides access to a variety of interlocking data sets, is expandable, and equips resource managers and researchers with a powerful GIS tool.

    Description

10-foot elevation contours for the extent of the state of Indiana, created from downloading, projecting and combining several datasets from USGS based on 7.5-minute quadrangle boundaries. These vector contour lines are derived from the 3D Elevation Program using automated and semi-automated processes. They were created to support 1:24,000-scale CONUS and Hawaii, 1:25,000-scale Alaska, and 1:20,000-scale Puerto Rico / US Virgin Island topographic map products, but are also published in this GIS vector format. Contour intervals are assigned by 7.5-minute quadrangle, so this vector dataset is not visually seamless across quadrangle boundaries. The vector lines have elevation attributes (in feet above mean sea level on NAVD88), but this dataset does not carry line symbols or annotation. Description

The Human Geography Map (World Edition) web map provides a detailed vector basemap with a monochromatic style and content adjusted to support Human Geography information. Where possible, the map content has been adjusted so that it observes WCAG contrast criteria. This basemap, included in the ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World, uses 3 vector tile layers:Human Geography Label, a label reference layer including cities and communities, countries, administrative units, and at larger scales street names.Human Geography Detail, a detail reference layer including administrative boundaries, roads and highways, and larger bodies of water. This layer is designed to be used with a high degree of transparency so that the detail does not compete with your information. It is set at approximately 50% in this web map, but can be adjusted.Human Geography Base, a simple basemap consisting of land areas in a very light gray only. The vector tile layers in this web map are built using the same data sources used for other Esri Vector Basemaps. For details on data sources contributed by the GIS community, view the map of Community Maps Basemap Contributors. Esri Vector Basemaps are updated monthly.Learn more about this basemap from the cartographic designer in Introducing a Human Geography Basemap.Use this MapThis map is designed to be used as a basemap for overlaying other layers of information or as a stand-alone reference map. You can add layers to this web map and save as your own map. If you like, you can add this web map to a custom basemap gallery for others in your organization to use in creating web maps. If you would like to add this map as a layer in other maps you are creating, you may use the tile layer item referenced in this map.

This data set was developed to provide accurate framework data (including address points, street centerlines, land parcels, and governmental boundaries) for Indiana, as part of the Indiana Data Sharing Initiative (IDSI) of the Indiana Geographic Information Office (IGIO).This dataset is a polygon feature class that contains land parcels maintained by local government agencies in Indiana, provided by personnel of the Indiana Geographic Information Office (IGIO). These data were compiled by IGIO as part of the Indiana Data Sharing Initiative (IDSI) between Indiana Geographic Information Council (IGIC), Indiana Geographic Information Office (IGIO), Indiana Geological and Water Survey (IGWS) and participating Indiana local governments to provide the most accurate framework data (including address points, street centerlines, land parcels, and governmental boundaries) for the citizens of Indiana. The attributes have been expanded to now include parcel ID, dates of harvest from each government, property classification codes, property classification descriptions, street address information, and tax district ID numbers.
