This Feature Class was created in 2014 as a part of the State of Connecticut’s Policy Intergovernmental Policy Division grant to the Southern Connecticut Regional Council of Governments for the Regional Web-Based GIS program project.The Town of Meriden started the development of the parcel layer internally in 2005. It was created in NAD 1983 State Plane Coordinate System. The parcel layer was digitized either from the Town of Meriden’s tax maps or Town Clerk maps. Future appended records were sourced by tax maps, as-builts or Coordinate Geometry with dimensions. This feature class is updated every 3-6 months or as needed.

See full Data Guide here. Connecticut Parcels for Protected Open Space Mapping is a polygon feature-based layer that includes basic parcel-level information for some towns in Connecticut. This 2009 parcel layer includes information provided by individual municipalities. These parcel data are incomplete and out of date. The accuracy, currency and completeness of the data reflect the content of the data at the time DEEP acquired the data from the individual municipalities. Attribute information is comprised of values such as town name and map lot block number. These data are not updated by CT DEEP and should only be used as a general reference. Critical decisions involving parcel-level information should be based on more recently acquired information from the respective municipalities. These parcels are not to be considered legal boundaries such as boundaries determined from certain classified survey maps or deed descriptions. Parcel boundaries shown in this layer are based on information from municipalities used for property tax purposes. Largely due to differences in horizontal accuracy among various data layers, do not expect these parcel boundaries to line up exactly with or be properly postioned relative to features shown on other layers available from CT DEEP such as scanned USGS topography quadrangle maps, roads, hydrography, town boundaries, and even orthophotograpy. The data in the parcel layer was obtained from individual Connecticut municipalities. An effort was made to collect data once from each municipality. The data acquisition date for each set of municipally-supplied parcel data was not recorded and CT DEEP does not keep this information up-to-date. Consequently, these data are out-of-date, incomplete and do not reflect the current state of property ownership in these municipalities. These parcels are not to be considered legal boundaries such as boundaries determined from certain classified survey maps or deed descriptions. Parcel boundaries shown in this layer are based on information from municipalities used for property tax purposes. Parcel boundaries and attribute information have not been updated in this layer since the time the information was originally acquired by CT DEEP. For example, property boundaries are incorrect where subdivisions have occurred. Also, field attribute values are populated only if the information was supplied to CT DEEP. For example, parcels in some towns lack location (street name) information or possibly map lot block values. Therefore, field attributes are inconsistent, may include gaps, and do not represent complete sets of values among all towns. They should not be compared and analyzed across towns. It is emphasized that critical decisions involving parcel-level information be based on more recently obtained information from the respective municipalities. These data are only suitable for general reference purposes. Be cautious when using these data. Many Connecticut municipalities provide access to more up-to-date and more detailed property ownership information on the Internet. This data was created through the modification of an existing sewer service dataset from the CT Office of Policy and Management (OPM), in addition to sewer data from the Southeastern Connecticut Council Of Government (SCCOG) and the Town of Stonington. It also includes data from the Sewer Service Area 2018 file in areas where the OPM dataset was not as current. The OPM data was modified by reducing the extensive categories which represent all areas containing sewers to a "Connected" classification.SCCOG Data: Data was clipped to individual municipal boundaries for all 21 municipalities with sewer information within the SCCOG. The "Existing" category from attribute table was extracted via selection to create the "Connected" areas for 19/21 municipalities. The Town of Stonington data was merged with the SCCOG data as both had areas which were not included in the other. The North Stonington data was combined with SSA 2018 data to get the most accurate representation for that town. OPM Data: Data was modified to isolate the undefined and fragmented categories, (QA- using municipal websites, PDF maps and local contacts for verification where available) then Clipped to municipal boundaries. All the areas that are connected to sewers were Dissolved, only maintaining the key fields listed and described below. The datasets were combined using the Merge tool to get all the connected sewer service areas in the state.Description of Fields:TOWN- Represents all the municipalities with the state of CTs boundaries. CNTY_NAME- Represents the eight (8) county names to which each municipality belongs to.

SEWERS- This field has two classes "Existing" and "No Sewer" and this identifies if a municipality has sewers existing within its boundary or not. SEWER-STATUS- The Sewer Status field represents the areas within in each municipality that are "Connected" to sewers.TREATMENTFACILITY- This field represents the sewer service treatment facility (endpoint) that processes the waste for each municipality. For municipalities without sewers, “Not Applicable” is the designated value. PASSTHROUGH- This field identifies if the wastewater passes through other municipalities on the way to the treatment facility (endpoint) as denoted by a "Yes" or "No" value. Feature class is symbolized on the Sewer Status field to show the “Connected” (green).
