    Description

It is about updating to GIS information database, Decision Support Tool (DST) in collaboration with IWMI. With the support of the Fish for Livelihoods field team and IPs (MFF, BRAC Myanmar, PACT Myanmar, and KMSS) staff, collection of Global Positioning System GPS location data for year-1 (2019-20) 1,167 SSA farmer ponds, and year-2 (2020-21) 1,485 SSA farmer ponds were completed with different GPS mobile applications: My GPS Coordinates, GPS Status & Toolbox, GPS Essentials, Smart GPS Coordinates Locator and GPS Coordinates. The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model that integrates climate change analysis with water availability will provide an important tool informing decisions on scaling pond adoption. It can also contribute to a Decision Support Tool to better target pond scaling. GIS Data also contribute to identify the location point of the F4L SSA farmers ponds on the Myanmar Map by fiscal year from 1 to 5.

    Description

Congress passed the Modernizing Access to our Public Land Act (MAPLand Act) in 2022. Section 4 of the MAPLand Act requires the BLM to, not later than four years after the date of enactment of the Act, digitize and publish, on the applicable agency website, GIS mapping data that specifies, with respect to the BLM, all Federal interests in private land, including easements, reservations, and rights-of-way (1) in which the Federal Government does not have a fee title interest; and (2) that provide legal public recreational access to the Federal land. This aggregated dataset contains public and BLM public access easement and reservation data. The Public Lands Access Data Project modernizes BLM public access easement and reservation data from tabular form (Realty case files and GLO Records) to geospatial form. This effort will provide opportunity for participating BLM state and field offices the ability to modernize (digitize) existing tabular lands and realty data (i.e., easements, reservations, land exchanges and other lands and realty records and case file types) to populate a national public lands access dataset. The data will directly support improved public access to public lands by providing the information in an accessible format for public use and integration into commercial mobile applications that informs the public how to reach public lands via legally perfected easements or patent reservations that cross private, state or other agency owned lands.

    Description

A comprehensive dataset of 1,513 Pakistani cities, towns, tehsils, districts and places with latitude/longitude, administrative region, population (when available) and Wikidata IDs — ideal for mapping, geospatial analysis, enrichment, and location-based ML.

    Why this dataset is valuable:

    • Full geocoordinates for every entry (100% coverage) — ready for mapping and spatial joins.
    • Wide geographic coverage across all 7 major regions of Pakistan (provinces / administrative regions).
    • Wikidata IDs included for reliable cross-referencing and automatic enrichment from external knowledge bases.
    • Useful for data scientists, GIS engineers, civic tech projects, academic research, and startups building Pakistan-focused location services.

    Highlights (fetched from the data):

    • Total rows: 1,513
    • Unique places (city field): 1,497
    • Rows with population > 0: 526 (≈34.8%)
    • Coordinate coverage: 1513 / 1513 (100%) — directly usable with mapping libraries.

    Column definitions (short):

    • id — Internal numeric row id (unique integer).
    • wikiDataId — Wikidata QID (e.g., Q####) for the place; use to fetch rich metadata.
    • type — Administrative/place type (e.g., ADM1, ADM2, city, district, tehsil).
    • city — Common/local city/place name (short label).
    • name — Full name / official name of the place (may include “District”, “Tehsil”, etc.).
    • country — Country name (Pakistan).
    • countryCode — ISO country code (e.g., PK).
    • region — Primary administrative region / province (e.g., Punjab, Sindh).
    • regionCode — Short code for region (e.g., PB, KP depending on your encoding).
    • regionWdId — Wikidata QID for the region.
    • latitude — Latitude in decimal degrees (float).
    • longitude — Longitude in decimal degrees (float).
    • population — Integer population (0 or NA where unknown).

    Typical & high-value use cases:

    • Mapping & visualization: choropleth maps, point overlays, heatmaps of population or density.
    • Geospatial analysis: distance calculations, nearest-neighbor queries, clustering of urban centers.
    • Data enrichment: join with other datasets (OpenStreetMap, Wikidata, census data) using wikiDataId and coordinates.
    • Machine learning & NLP: training geolocation models, geoparsing, toponym resolution, place name disambiguation.
    • Urban planning & research: analyze distribution of population-ready places vs administrative units.
    • Mobile / location-based apps: lookup & reverse geocoding fallback, seeding POI databases for Pakistan.
    • Humanitarian & disaster response: baseline location lists for logistics and situational awareness.

Image Selection/FilteringThe most recent and cloud free images are displayed by default.Any image available within the past 14 months can be displayed via custom filtering.Filtering can be done based on attributes such as Acquisition Date, Estimated Cloud Cover, and Tile ID.Tile_ID is computed as [year][month][day]T[hours][minutes][seconds]_[UTMcode][latitudeband][square]_[sequence]. More… Visual RenderingDefault rendering is Natural Color (bands 4,3,2) with Dynamic Range Adjustment (DRA).The DRA version of each layer enables visualization of the full dynamic range of the images.Rendering (or display) of band combinations and calculated indices is done on-the-fly from the source images via Raster Functions.Various pre-defined Raster Functions can be selected or custom functions created.Available renderings include: Agriculture with DRA, Bathymetric with DRA, Color-Infrared with DRA, Natural Color with DRA, Short-wave Infrared with DRA, Geology with DRA, NDMI Colorized, Normalized Difference Built-Up Index (NDBI), NDWI Raw, NDWI - with VRE Raw, NDVI – with VRE Raw (NDRE), NDVI - VRE only Raw, NDVI Raw, Normalized Burn Ratio, NDVI Colormap. NOTE: ‘Lock Raster’ should only be used on the layer for short periods of time, as the imagery and associated record Object IDs may change daily. This ArcGIS Server dynamic imagery layer can be used in Web Maps and ArcGIS Desktop as well as Web and Mobile applications using the REST based Image services API.Images can be exported up to a maximum of 4,000 columns x 4,000 rows per request. Data SourceSentinel-2 imagery is the result of close collaboration between the (European Space Agency) ESA, the European Commission and USGS. Data is hosted by the Amazon Web Services as part of their Registry of Open Data. Users can access the imagery from Sentinel-2 on AWS, or alternatively access EarthExplorer or the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem to download the scenes. For information on Sentinel-2 imagery, see Sentinel-2.
