    Description

Aerial distribution surveys are used by marine mammal biologists from FWC and other agencies to determine the seasonal distribution of manatees. Most surveys are conducted from small, four-seat, high-winged airplanes (Cessna 172 or 182) flying at a height of 500-1000 ft at a speed of 70-90 kts. Small helicopters may be used instead of fixed wing aircraft in urban areas or where waters are particularly opaque and hovering may be required. Flights are usually four to six hours long and are most commonly flown every two weeks for two years. The surveys are designed to maximize the manatee counts by concentrating on shallow nearshore waters around the state where manatees and their primary food source, sea grasses, are located. Flight paths curve parallel to the shoreline, and the airplane circles when manatees are spotted until a count of the number of animals in each group is obtained. Offshore waters are usually not surveyed. Dolphin and sea turtle sightings are recorded opportunistically. All aerial data are recorded on paper maps and entered into a GIS shapefile for spatial analysis. GIS is a computer software system for representing data spatially and for conducting spatial analyses. Surveys of West Pinellas County were flown twice a month from August 2008 to August 2010. FWC staff members were observers for these flights, and dual observers (two observers, one in the front seat and one in the rear seat) were present on some or all of survey flights. The survey area includes western Pinellas County along the Gulf of Mexico coast from Fort DeSoto north to the Pinellas/Pasco County border.

    Description

Overview:This document describes the 2021 accessibility data released by the Accessibility Observatory at the University of Minnesota. The data are included in the National Accessibility Evaluation Project for 2021, and this information can be accessed for each state in the U.S. at https://access.umn.edu/research/america. The following sections describe the format, naming, and content of the data files.Data Formats: The data files are provided in a Geopackage format. Geopackage (.gpkg) files are an open-source, geospatial filetype that can contain multiple layers of data in a single file, and can be opened with most GIS software, including both ArcGIS and QGIS.Within this zipfile, there are six geopackage files (.gpkg) structured as follows. Each of them contains the blocks shapes layer, results at the block level for all LEHD variables (jobs and workers), with a layer of results for each travel time (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 minutes). {MPO ID}_tr_2021_0700-0859-avg.gpkg = Average Transit Access Departing Every Minute 7am-9am{MPO ID}_au_2021_08.gpkg = Average Auto Access Departing 8am{MPO ID}_bi_2021_1200_lts1.gpkg = Average Bike Access on LTS1 Network{MPO ID}_bi_2021_1200_lts2.gpkg = Average Bike Access on LTS2 Network{MPO ID}_bi_2021_1200_lts3.gpkg = Average Bike Access on LTS3 Network{MPO ID}_bi_2021_1200_lts4.gpkg = Average Bike Access on LTS4 NetworkFor mapping and geospatial analysis, the blocks shape layer within each geopackage can be joined to the blockid of the access attribute data. Opening and Using Geopackages in ArcGIS:Unzip the zip archiveUse the "Add Data" function in Arc to select the .gpkg fileSelect which layer(s) are needed — always select "main.blocks" as this layer contains the Census block shapes; select any other attribute data layers as well. There are three types of layers in the geopackage file — the "main.blocks" layer is the spatial features layer, and all other layers are either numerical attribute data tables, or the "fieldname_descriptions" metadata layer. The numerical attribute layers are named with the following format:[mode]_[threshold]_minutes[mode] is a two-character code indicating the transport mode used[threshold] is an integer indicating the travel time threshold used for this data layerTo use the data spatially, perform a join between the "main.blocks" layer and the desired numerical data layer, using either the numerical "id" fields, or 15-digit "blockid" fields as join fields.

    Description

In 1969, the Florida Legislature enacted the “Community Redevelopment Act of 1969” (Chapter 69-305). This Act has been amended many times since its initial adoption and comprises Part III of Chapter 163 of the Florida Statutes. The Act is the enabling legislation that allows for the creation of community redevelopment agencies and Community Redevelopment Areas within the State of Florida. The primary purpose of the Act is to support economic development activities and redevelopment of slum or blighted areas through preparation of community redevelopment plans and their implementation. To assist in plan implementation, the Act provides the option of establishing a redevelopment trust fund that may receive funds through the allocation of tax increment revenues.

description: This Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) LAS dataset is a topographic survey conducted for a coalition of GIS practitioners, including the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), Florida Water Management Districts, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District, and other state and federal agencies. The goal for this project is to use the LiDAR data as new elevation inputs for updated SLOSH data grids. The ultimate result is the update of the Regional Hurricane Evacuation Studies (RHES) for the state. The State of Florida Division of Emergency Management LiDAR Survey was collected under the guidance of a Professional Mapper/Surveyor. This is a classified lidar data set, bare-earth points (class 2), noise points (class 7), water returns (class 9), and unclassified data (class 1). Class 12 contains LiDAR points removed from the overlap region between adjacent flight lines. The LiDAR data was flown at a density sufficient to support a maximum final post spacing of 4 feet for unobscured areas. This data set is a collection of smaller project areas collected at different times in southwest Florida. Specifically, the data were collected within portions of Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, Collier, and Monroe. In the original project 2 sections of Pasco county were used: data collection in 2004 as well as a small coastal section in 2008. These have been removed and designated as individual projects named 2004 Pasco - Classified and 2008 Coastal Pasco respectively. The dates of collection are: Project Area B: 20070706-20070810 Project Area C: 20070706-20070810 Project Area D: 20070717-20070729 Project Area E: 20070717-20070708 Project Area F: 20070618-20070806 Project Area G: 20070612-20070630, 20070702, 20070714, 20070804-20070805 Project Area H: 20070615-20070629 Lee Buy Up: 20070811-20070824 Sarasota Buy Up: 20070828-20070830 DEMs are available by request.
