Bear Lake provides a unique location to use bathymetric data to analyze the relationship between changing water surface elevations and the accessible spawning habitat for fish species. The spawning habitat for the prey species of Bear Lake consists of cobble which is present in the littoral zone of the lake. The littoral zone is classified as the area of the water column that has light penetration, sufficient for macrophytes to photosynthesis, to reach the sediment floor of the lake. The analysis was performed using ESRI’s ArcMap and Python coding to calculate, automate, and illustrate this relationship; and to provide a possible methodology for water and wildlife management to apply to their unique situations to make informed decisions in the future. This method is advantageous when analyzing present or future conditions because of its versatility to create hypothetical scenarios.

    Description

The global construction mapping services market is experiencing robust growth, driven by the increasing adoption of advanced technologies like drones, LiDAR, and GIS in the construction industry. The market's expansion is fueled by the need for precise and efficient site surveying, improved project planning and management, enhanced safety protocols, and reduced project costs and delays. Several key trends are shaping the market: the rising preference for 3D modeling and digital twins for better visualization and coordination, the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) with mapping data for seamless workflows, and the increasing demand for real-time data acquisition and analysis for informed decision-making. The market is segmented by surveying type (aerial and terrestrial) and application (before, during, and after construction). Aerial surveying, particularly using drones, is gaining significant traction due to its cost-effectiveness, speed, and ability to capture detailed data from challenging terrains. The "during construction" application segment is witnessing strong growth as contractors leverage mapping data to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with project specifications. While the market exhibits substantial growth potential, certain restraints exist. High initial investment costs associated with acquiring and maintaining sophisticated equipment can be a barrier to entry for smaller firms. Data security and privacy concerns related to handling sensitive project information also pose challenges. Furthermore, regulatory hurdles and the need for skilled professionals proficient in data processing and interpretation can impact market growth in some regions. However, ongoing technological advancements and increasing government investments in infrastructure projects are expected to mitigate these restraints. The competition is intense, with both large multinational corporations and specialized surveying firms vying for market share. The market is geographically diverse, with North America and Europe currently holding significant shares but the Asia-Pacific region showing the strongest growth potential due to rapid urbanization and infrastructure development. By 2033, the market is projected to achieve substantial expansion, driven by continuous advancements in technology and the increasing reliance on data-driven decision-making within the construction sector. We estimate the market to reach a value of approximately $15 billion by 2033 assuming a conservative CAGR of 8%, considering the growth factors and restraints.

    Description

The Gilmore Project is a pilot study designed to test holistic systems approaches to mapping mineral systems and dryland salinity in areas of complex regolith cover. The project is coordinated by the Australian Geological Survey Organisation, and involves over 50 scientists from 14 research organisations. Research partners include: Cooperative Research Centres for Advanced Mineral Exploration Technologies (CRC AMET), Landscape Evolution and Mineral Exploration (CRC LEME), the CRC for Sensor Signal and Information Processing, and the Australian Geodynamics Cooperative Research Centre (AGCRC) Land & Water Sciences Division of Bureau of Rural Sciences (BRS) NSW Department of Land & Water Conservation and the NSW Department of Mineral Resources. Various universities including the Australian National University, University of Canberra, Macquarie University, Monash University, University of Melbourne, and Curtin University of Technology, and Australian National Seismic Imaging Resource (ANSIR). The project area lies on the eastern margin of the Murray-Darling Basin in central-west NSW. The project area was chosen for its overlapping mineral exploration (Au-Cu) and salinity management issues, and the availability of high-resolution geophysical datasets and drillhole materials and datasets made available by the minerals exploration industry. The project has research agreements with the minerals exploration industry, and is collaborating with rural land-management groups, and the Grains Research and Development Corporation. The study area (100 x 150 km), straddles the Gilmore Fault Zone, a major NNW-trending crustal structure that separates the Wagga-Omeo and the Junee-Narromine Volcanic Belts in the Lachlan Fold Belt. The project area includes tributaries of the Lachlan and the Murrumbidgee Rivers, considered to be two of the systems most at risk from rising salinities. This project area was chosen to compare and contrast salt stores and delivery systems in floodplain (in the Lachlan catchment) and incised undulating hill landscapes (Murrumbidgee catchment). The study area is characteristic of other undulating hill landscapes on the basin margins, areas within the main and tributary river valleys, and the footslopes and floodplains of the Murray-Darling Basin itself. Studies of the bedrock geology in the study area reveal a complex architecture. The Gilmore Fault Zone consist of a series of subparallel, west-dipping thrust faults, that juxtapose, from west to east, Cambro-Ordovician meta-sediments and granites of the Wagga Metamorphics, and further to the east, a series of fault-bounded packages comprising volcanics and intrusions, and siliciclastic meta-sediments. Two airborne electromagnetic (AEM) surveys were flown in smaller areas within the two catchments. Large-scale hydrothermal alteration and structural overprinting, particularly in the volcanics, has added to the complexity within the bedrock architecture.

This web mapping application contains a vegetation type map (1:100,000) was prepared for the Tongass National Forest to provide up-to-date and more complete information about vegetative communities across the Ketchikan Misty Fjords Project Area. Approximately 4.6 million acres, 3.5 million acres of which are terrestrial lands including the area of inland waterbodies and rivers, were mapped through a partnership between the Geospatial Technology and Applications Center (GTAC), Tongass National Forest, and the Alaska Regional Office. The Tongass National Forest and their partners prepared the regional classification system, identified the desired map units (map classes) and provided general project management. GTAC provided project support and expertise in vegetation mapping. A combination of field and photo interpreted reference data was used to inform the models that output the final map products. Federal and GTAC personnel collected plot data on the ground.Vegetation type was assigned to modeling units (mapping polygons) using predictive classification models. The minimum map feature depicted on the map is 0.25 acres. All map products were designed according to the Forest Service mid-level vegetation mapping standards in order to be stored in the Forest GIS and National databases. This map product was generated using imagery primarily acquired in 2019 - 2022 and reference information was collected in the summers of 2019 - 2022. Therefore, the final map can be considered indicative of the existing vegetation conditions found within the project boundary in 2022.For more detailed information on mapping methodology please see the Ketchikan Misty Fjords Existing Vegetation Project Report.
