TwitterThis dataset contains all of the stormwater management ponds within the City of Waterloo storm sewer network. A stormwater pond is an artificial pond that is designed to manage storm water runoff, both for water quality and flood control purposes. The ponds provide two primary services. First, they retain runoff before releasing it into the streams or other bodies of water. They release the water at flow rates and frequencies similar to those that exist under natural conditions (prior to land clearing and development). The second benefit of SWM Ponds is that they provide pollutant removal through settling and biological uptake. Please be advised that these records are based upon available information, compiled from a variety of sources, some of which has not been verified. This is not a plan of survey, field verification is recommended.
