Subjects receiving negative feedback did not respect the strength of these signals, were far less predictable in their updating behavior and exhibited an aversion to new information. In response to good news, inference conformed more closely to Bayes' Rule, both in accuracy and precision. Signal direction did not affect updating or acquisition in our neutral control. Unlike past work, our design varied direction and agreement with priors independently. The results indicate that confirmation bias is driven by direction; confirmation alone had no effect.     Data from a weather station (Vilanova i la Geltrú) deployed at the Catalan coast from 2013 to 2014. The station at Vilanova i la Geltrú provides air temperature, wind speed and wind direction. Data from the Vilanova i la Geltrú weather station has been acquired every minute, then a quality control procedure has been applied following QARTOD guidelines. Afterwards the quality controlled data has been averaged in periods of 30 minutes (discarding data flagged as bad data). Every data point has an associated a quality control flag and standard deviation value. The quality control flag values are 1: good data, 2: not applied, 3: suspicious data, 4: bad data, 9: missing data. The standard deviation provides a measure of the variability of the data within the 30min time window used in the average.

Far from being irrelevant to data scientists or practitioners of AI, the terms create the public notion of the systems built. Through a critical reflection, I explore how notions of AI for social good are vague, offer insufficient criteria for judgement, and elide the externalities and structural interdependence of AI systems. Instead, the field known as “AI for social good” is best understood and referred to as “AI for not bad.”

    based on the consolidation of the ifremer networks resco (https://doi.org/10.17882/53007) and velyger (https://doi.org/10.17882/41888), the general objective of the ecoscopa project is to analyze the causes of spatio-temporal variability of the main life traits (larval stage - recruitment - reproduction - growth – survival – cytogenetic anomalies) of the pacific oyster in france and follow their evolution over the long term in the context of climate change.the high frequency environmental data are monitored since 2010 at several stations next to oyster farm areas in eight bays of the french coast (from south to north): thau lagoon and bays of arcachon, marennes oléron, bourgneuf, vilaine, brest, mont saint-michel and veys (see map below). sea temperature and practical salinity are recorded at 15-mins frequency. for several sites, fluorescence and turbidity data are also available.data are acquired with automatic probes directly put in oyster bags or fixed on metallic structure at 50 cm over the sediment bottom, except for thau lagoon whose probes are deployed at 2m below sea surface. since 2010, several types of probes were used: stp2, stps, smatch or wisens ctd from nke (www.nke-instrumentation.fr) and recently eco flntu (www.seabird.com). the probes are regularly qualified by calibrations in the ifremer coastal laboratories.precision estimated of the complete data collection process is: temperature (±0.1°c), salinity (±0.5psu), in vivo fluorescence (±10%), turbidity (±10%). the data are qualified into several levels: 0-no quality check performed, 1-good data, 2-probably good data, 3-probably bad data, 4-bad data, 5-value changed, 7-nominal value, 8-interpolated value, 9-missing value.

    Description

    This paper explains the size and value "anomalies" in stock returns using an economically motivated two-beta model. We break the beta of a stock with the market portfolio into two components, one reflecting news about the market's future cash flows and one reflecting news about the market's discount rates. Intertemporal asset pricing theory suggests that the former should have a higher price of risk; thus beta, like cholesterol, comes in "bad" and "good" varieties. Empirically, we find that value stocks and small stocks have considerably higher cash-flow betas than growth stocks and large stocks, and this can explain their higher average returns. The poor performance of the capital asset pricing model (CAPM) since 1963 is explained by the fact that growth stocks and high-past-beta stocks have predominantly good betas with low risk prices.
