As of June 2024, global Google searches for the word "ChatGPT" increased again after a slight decline by the end of 2024. Interest in the chatbot, developed by the U.S.-based OpenAI and launched in November 2022, started rising in the week ending December 3, 2022. Recently, growing demand for information on ChatGPT made the keyword hit a peak of 100 index points during the week ending on June 2, 2024. ChatGPT, which stands for Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer, is a chatbot and AI-powered auto-generative text system able to give human-sounding replies and reproduce human-like interactions when prompted.

"*******" was the most frequently searched keyword on Google worldwide, with over ***** million monthly online searches during the analyzed period of January to March in 2025. Furthermore, the search resulted in more than ***** million website visits, or more than **** percent of all traffic. With *** million monthly searches, "***" was the second most popular keyword, and "***********" came in third place with about ****** million searches per month.

Despite the importance of trend data for understanding key substantive and theoretical questions on American culture and religion, almost no such data exist. By searching the massive "https://books.google.com/" Target="_blank">Google Books collection, however, the "https://books.google.com/ngrams" Target="_blank">Google Ngram Viewer provides quantitative data on cultural and religious trends over time. The Ngram Viewer searches the entire collection of Google Books and reports on the number of times an Ngram is used annually in the books. Ngrams are most commonly words, but can be any given sequence of text. In an effort to democratize access to these trend data, the ARDA has created a dataset with more than 400 Ngram variables generated by the Ngram Viewer and more than 20 historical trend variables taken from the "https://hsus.cambridge.org/HSUSWeb/HSUSEntryServlet" Target="_blank">Historical Statistics of the United States and other sources. When available, we also included measures on education and clergy training.

The Ngram variables included in this file were generated by using both specific terms and composite data, where scales are created out of similar words (e.g., Atheist scale = atheist + Atheist + atheism + Atheism). These Ngram data were drawn from Google's American English corpus, which contains more than 3 million books. The Ngram variables were calculated as rates and can be interpreted as how often "xyz" is used, as a proportion of the total words in Google's American English Corpus. We would caution, however, that the Ngram data included in this file are based on very simple searches. The Ngram Viewer also allows users to customize measures by using a wildcard search, inflection search, case insensitive search, part-of-speech tags and ngram compositions. For many research projects, users will want to refine the searches to better provide the measure desired. As of May 2025, global Google searches for the word "Grindr" have generated a slight global increase over the previous five months. During the analyzed period, interest in the LGBTQ-focused dating app peaked on the week of July 14, 2024, with 100 index points.

Google Trends data on searches for "pollen" for DMA regions near National Allergy Bureau pollen counting stations from 2012-2017, downloaded in 10x replicates, from Jan-Jun and Apr-Dec of each year. Search data for the term "ragweed" is included as a comparator in pollen searches (no file suffix), and can also be found as a separate search term (in files with the suffix "ragweed.csv")

As of June 2024, global searches for the keyword "generative AI" had experienced an increase in the previous year. The search terms for generative artificial intelligence surged in popularity from mid-February to early March 2024, hitting a score of 100 index points in the week ending March 3. Interest in "generative AI" frequently coincides with searches for ChatGPT, an AI chatbot model developed by the United States-based research company OpenAI.

The International Google Trends dataset will provide critical signals that individual users and businesses alike can leverage to make better data-driven decisions. This dataset simplifies the manual interaction with the existing Google Trends UI by automating and exposing anonymized, aggregated, and indexed search data in BigQuery. This dataset includes the Top 25 stories and Top 25 Rising queries from Google Trends. It will be made available as two separate BigQuery tables, with a set of new top terms appended daily. Each set of Top 25 and Top 25 rising expires after 30 days, and will be accompanied by a rolling five-year window of historical data for each country and region across the globe, where data is available. RSV indicates the popularity of a search term in all Google searches within a specified region or time frame. The data is standardised according to region and time, then scaled from 0 to 100, with 100 representing peak interest for that term. Users may tailor the analysis by search term, location, period, category, and search type. The Multilingual Spoken Words Corpus is a large and growing audio dataset of spoken words in 50 languages for academic research and commercial applications in keyword spotting and spoken term search. The dataset contains more than 340,000 keywords, totaling 23.4 million 1-second spoken examples (over 6,000 hours). The dataset has many use cases, ranging from voice-enabled consumer devices to call center automation. It was generated by applying forced alignment on crowd-sourced sentence-level audio to produce per-word timing estimates for extraction. All alignments are included in the dataset.
