    Description

    The Principal Follow-Up Survey, 2016-17 (PFS 16/17) is a data collection that is part of the National Teacher and Principal Survey program; program data are available since 2017 at https://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/licenses.asp. PFS 16/17 (https://nces.ed.gov/surveys/ntps/overview.asp?OverviewType=6) is a longitudinal follow-up to the National Teacher and Principal Survey, 2015-16 (NTPS 2015-16) data collection. PFS 16/17 determined mobility patterns of principals in the base (NTPS 2015-16) school year. The PFS 16/17 sample includes all schools whose principals completed questionnaires in NTPS 2015-16. Schools and principals were mailed the PFS questionnaire. Nonrespondents were followed-up via telephone. Key statistics produced from PFS 16/17 include the number of principals that still worked as a principal in the same school in the following school year, how many moved to become a principal in another school, how many left the principalship altogether, and from those who left the principalship, what percentage retired or sought work in another occupational field.

    Description

    The Participation Survey started in October 2021 and is the key evidence source on engagement for DCMS. It is a continuous push-to-web household survey of adults aged 16 and over in England.

    The Participation Survey provides nationally representative estimates of physical and digital engagement with the arts, heritage, museums & galleries, libraries and archives, as well as engagement with tourism, major events, live sports and digital.

    The Participation Survey is only asked of adults in England. Currently there is no harmonised survey or set of questions within the administrations of the UK.     The pre-release access document above contains a list of ministers and officials who have received privileged early access to this release of Participation Survey data. In line with best practice, the list has been kept to a minimum and those given access for briefing purposes had a maximum of 24 hours. Details on the pre-release access arrangements for this dataset are available in the accompanying material.

    These data include the individual responses for the City of Tempe Annual Community Survey conducted by ETC Institute. This dataset has two layers and includes both the weighted data and unweighted data. Weighting data is a statistical method in which datasets are adjusted through calculations in order to more accurately represent the population being studied. The weighted data are used in the final published PDF report.These data help determine priorities for the community as part of the City's on-going strategic planning process. Averaged Community Survey results are used as indicators for several city performance measures. The summary data for each performance measure is provided as an open dataset for that measure (separate from this dataset). Follow up emails and texts are also sent to encourage participation. A link to the survey is provided with each communication. To prevent people who do not live in Tempe or who were not selected as part of the random sample from completing the survey, everyone who completed the survey was required to provide their address. These addresses were then matched to those used for the random representative sample. If the respondent’s address did not match, the response was not used. To better understand how services are being delivered across the city, individual results were mapped to determine overall distribution across the city. Additionally, demographic data were used to monitor the distribution of responses to ensure the responding population of each survey is representative of city population. Processing and Limitations:The location data in this dataset is generalized to the block level to protect privacy. This means that only the first two digits of an address are used to map the location. When they data are shared with the city only the latitude/longitude of the block level address points are provided. This results in points that overlap. In order to better visualize the data, overlapping points were randomly dispersed to remove overlap. The result of these two adjustments ensure that they are not related to a specific address, but are still close enough to allow insights about service delivery in different areas of the city.     ABOUT THE COMMUNITY SURVEY DATASETFinal Reports for ETC Institute conducted annual community attitude surveys for the City of Tempe.     At recent technical conferences, many coal geoscientists in academia and government institutions as well as in industry organizations have expressed concern about the dwindling number of students and young staff members interested in careers in coal geoscience. To better understand what is driving these trends and to identify potential ways that the community can increase interest and participation in coal geoscience, two different surveys were sent to 94 coal geoscientists who were current or past members of The Society of Organic Petrology (TSOP) in February 2020. As the trends and perceptions in industry and government organizations may be different than in universities, one distinct survey was sent to members in industry and government organizations, and a different distinct survey was sent to members in academia.     The Annual Business Survey (ABS) provides information on selected economic and demographic characteristics for businesses and business owners by sex, ethnicity, race, and veteran status. Further, the survey measures research and development (for microbusinesses), new business topics such as innovation and technology, as well as other business characteristics. The U.S. Census Bureau and the National Center conduct the ABS jointly for Science and Engineering Statistics within the National Science Foundation.     Data are based on a sample and are subject to sampling variability. The degree of uncertainty for an estimate arising from sampling variability is represented through the use of a margin of error. The value shown here is the 90 percent margin of error.     Data Processing Notes:
    • This layer is updated automatically when the most current vintage of ACS data is released each year, usually in December. The layer always contains the latest available ACS 5-year estimates.     • Boundaries come from the US Census TIGER geodatabases. Boundaries are updated at the same time as the data updates (annually), and the boundary vintage appropriately matches the data vintage as specified by the Census.     • The States layer contains 52 records - all US states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico
    • Census tracts with no population that occur in areas of water, such as oceans, are removed from this data service (Census Tracts beginning with 99).
    • Percentages and derived counts, and associated margins of error, are calculated values (that can be identified by the "_calc_" stub in the field name), and abide by the specifications defined by the American Community Survey.
    • Field alias names were created based on the Table Shells file available from the American Community Survey Summary File Documentation page.
    • Negative values (e.g., -555555...) have been set to null. These negative values exist in the raw API data to indicate the following situations:
      • The margin of error column indicates that either no sample observations or too few sample observations were available to compute a standard error and thus the margin of error. A statistical test is not appropriate.
      • Either no sample observations or too few sample observations were available to compute an estimate, or a ratio of medians cannot be calculated because one or both of the median estimates falls in the lowest interval or upper interval of an open-ended distribution.

    Description

    The Family Resources Survey (FRS) has been running continuously since 1992 to meet the information needs of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It is almost wholly funded by DWP.

    The FRS collects information from a large, and representative sample of private households in the United Kingdom (prior to 2002, it covered Great Britain only). The interview year runs from April to March.

    The focus of the survey is on income, and how much comes from the many possible sources (such as employee earnings, self-employed earnings or profits from businesses, and dividends; individual pensions; state benefits, including Universal Credit and the State Pension; and other sources such as savings and investments). Specific items of expenditure, such as rent or mortgage, Council Tax and water bills, are also covered.

    Many other topics are covered and the dataset has a very wide range of personal characteristics, at the adult or child, family and then household levels. These include education, caring, childcare and disability. The dataset also captures material deprivation, household food security and (new for 2021/22) household food bank usage.

    The FRS is a national statistic whose results are published on the gov.uk website. It is also possible to create your own tables from FRS data, using DWP’s Stat Xplore tool. Further information can be found on the gov.uk Family Resources Survey webpage.

    Secure Access FRS data
    In addition to the standard End User Licence (EUL) version, Secure Access datasets, containing unrounded data and additional variables, are also available for FRS from 2005/06 onwards - see SN 9256. Prospective users of the Secure Access version of the FRS will need to fulfil additional requirements beyond those associated with the EUL datasets.     FRS, HBAI and PI
    The FRS underpins the related Households Below Average Income (HBAI) dataset, which focuses on poverty in the UK, and the related Pensioners' Incomes (PI) dataset. The EUL versions of HBAI and PI are held under SNs 5828 and 8503, respectively. The Secure Access versions are held under SN 7196 and 9257 (see above).

    FRS 2022-23

    The impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the FRS 2022-23 survey was much reduced when compared with the two previous survey years. Throughout the year, there was a gradual return to pre-pandemic fieldwork practices, with the majority of interviews being conducted in face-to-face mode. The achieved sample was just over 25,000 households. Users are advised to consult the FRS 2022-23 Background Information and Methodology document for detailed information on changes, developments and issues related to the 2022-23 FRS data set and publication. Alongside the usual topics covered, the 2022-2023 FRS also includes variables for Cost of Living support, including those on certain state benefits; energy bill support; and Council Tax support.     FRS 2021-22 and 2020-21 and the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

    The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has impacted the FRS 2021-22 and 2020-21 data collection in the following ways:

    • In 2020-21, fieldwork operations for the FRS were rapidly changed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the introduction of national lockdown restrictions. The established face-to-face interviewing approach employed on the FRS was suspended and replaced with telephone interviewing for the whole of the 2020-21 survey year.
    • This change impacted both the size and composition of the achieved sample. This shift in mode of interview has been accompanied by a substantial reduction in the number of interviews achieved: just over 10,000 interviews were achieved this year, compared with 19,000 to 20,000 in a typical FRS year. While we made every effort to address additional biases identified (e.g. by altering our weighting regime), some residual bias remains. Please see the FRS 2020-21 Background Information and Methodology document for more information.
    • The FRS team have published a technical report for the 2020-21 survey, which provides a full assessment of the impact of the pandemic on the statistics. In line with the Statistics Code of Practice, this is designed to assist users with interpreting the data and to aid transparency over decisions and data quality issues.
    • In 2021-22, the interview mode was largely telephone, with partial return to face-to-face interviews towards end of survey year. The achieved sample was over 16,000 households. This is a return towards the number expected in a normal survey year (around 20,000 households).
    • In both survey years, there remain areas where users are advised to exercise caution when making comparisons to other survey years. More details on how the results for the 2020 to 2021 and 2021-22 survey years were affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic can be found in the FRS 2020 to 2021 Background Information and Methodology and FRS 2021 to 2022 Background Information and Methodology.

    The FRS team are seeking users' feedback on the 2020-21 and 2021-22 FRS. Given the breadth of groups covered by the FRS data, it has not been possible for DWP statisticians to assess or validate every breakdown which is of interest to external researchers and users.     Description

    The Schools and Staffing Survey, 2007-08 (SASS 07-08), is a study that is part of the Schools and Staffing Survey (SASS) program. SASS 07-08 (https://nces.ed.gov/surveys/sass/) is a cross-sectional survey that collects data on public, private, and Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) elementary and secondary schools across the nation. The survey was primarily conducted through the use of mailed paper questionnaires. Nonresponse follow-up interviews were conducted using computer-assisted telephone interviews and face-to-face paper interviews. Teachers, librarians, principals, and districts were sampled. Key statistics produced from SASS 07-08 included how many teachers remained at the same school, moved to another school, or left the profession in the year following the SASS administration.

    Description

    To ensure residents across the District were provided an opportunity to participate in the discussion around public safety, the qualities of a permanent chief of police, and public safety priorities for the District, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety and Justice conducted a survey. Residents could take the survey online or complete it in person at recreation centers, senior centers, and libraries. The survey was publicized in Mayor Bowser’s weekly newsletter, on neighborhood list-servs, and in a link on all District government emails. The survey was open to the public between January 26th and February 13th 2017. We collected over 7000 responses, of which we identified 3990 as valid responses from District residents.     Description

    This dataset contains raw response data to a nano-survey that was conducted in Morocco on the right to access to information and the right to petition and motion the government. A nano-survey is an innovative technology that extends a brief survey to a random sampling of internet users. Note: "NA" or "N/A" indicates "No Answer." Sub-national location data is available for 2/3 of survey recipients. 54,441 random internet users in Morocco were exposed to a portion of this survey, with 15,020 respondents providing at least partial responses.

Description

The Principal Follow-Up Survey, 2016-17 (PFS 16/17) is a data collection that is part of the National Teacher and Principal Survey program; program data are available since 2017 at https://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/licenses.asp. PFS 16/17 (https://nces.ed.gov/surveys/ntps/overview.asp?OverviewType=6) is a longitudinal follow-up to the National Teacher and Principal Survey, 2015-16 (NTPS 2015-16) data collection. PFS 16/17 determined mobility patterns of principals in the base (NTPS 2015-16) school year. The PFS 16/17 sample includes all schools whose principals completed questionnaires in NTPS 2015-16. Schools and principals were mailed the PFS questionnaire. Nonrespondents were followed-up via telephone. Key statistics produced from PFS 16/17 include the number of principals that still worked as a principal in the same school in the following school year, how many moved to become a principal in another school, how many left the principalship altogether, and from those who left the principalship, what percentage retired or sought work in another occupational field.
