The open data portal catalogue is a downloadable dataset containing some key metadata for the general datasets available on the Government of Canada's Open Data portal. Resource 1 is generated using the ckanapi tool (external link) Resources 2 - 8 are generated using the Flatterer (external link) utility. ###Description of resources: 1. Dataset is a JSON Lines (external link) file where the metadata of each Dataset/Open Information Record is one line of JSON. The file is compressed with GZip. The file is heavily nested and recommended for users familiar with working with nested JSON. 2. Catalogue is a XLSX workbook where the nested metadata of each Dataset/Open Information Record is flattened into worksheets for each type of metadata. 3. datasets metadata contains metadata at the dataset level. This is also referred to as the package in some CKAN documentation. This is the main table/worksheet in the SQLite database and XLSX output. 4. Resources Metadata contains the metadata for the resources contained within each dataset. 5. resource views metadata contains the metadata for the views applied to each resource, if a resource has a view configured. 6. datastore fields metadata contains the DataStore information for CSV datasets that have been loaded into the DataStore. This information is displayed in the Data Dictionary for DataStore enabled CSVs. 7. Data Package Fields contains a description of the fields available in each of the tables within the Catalogue, as well as the count of the number of records each table contains. 8. data package entity relation diagram Displays the title and format for column, in each table in the Data Package in the form of a ERD Diagram. The Data Package resource offers a text based version. 9. SQLite Database is a .db database, similar in structure to Catalogue. This can be queried with database or analytical software tools for doing analysis.

Canada.ca analytics is an unaltered dataset. It contains monthly Canada.ca usage data over the past 36 months.

The financial, people management and results data presented in the GC InfoBase are periodically updated as new information becomes available. Due to the nature of varying datasets, not all datasets are updated at the same time or on the same periodic schedule. For example, the Public Accounts of Canada is published every fall, while Departmental Plans, are published on or before March 31 each year. Once published, the data must be prepared in an appropriate format to be integrated into the GC InfoBase.

This dataset provides statistics on download counts, visitors, as well as the increase of participation of Government of Canada departments and agencies in supplying more open datasets. All statistics presented, unless otherwise noted, are as of June 18, 2013 to the end of the previous month.

The Government of Canada Spend Data by Department dataset is a summary of procurement expenditure data by department. It is derived from expenditure data submitted annually from over 55 departments and agencies, and is grouped by commodity broken down by family, group, category and subcategory. The data covers about 95 per cent of government’s total expenditure on goods and services. This dataset details the Spend Data from April 2010 through to March 2016, and was compiled through a collaboration of efforts from participating departments and agencies; however since 2017, Public Services and Procurement Canada no longer receives the information centrally, and is therefore unable to continue the publication of this dataset. >Note: the framework used by the Government of Canada to classify commodities has evolved over time. When comparing the breakout of expenditures as reported in this dataset vs those in the earlier Archived, Government of Canada Spend Data dataset, the totals reported across the commodity framework will at times be different for FY2010/2011, FY2011/2012, FY12/13 and FY2013/2014. This is because the data specific to those fiscal years was re-calculated in FY2014/2015 for the release of this newer dataset (in January 2015), using the commodity reporting structure and organisation naming conventions that were current at that time. The overall totals reported for each fiscal year and each department would have remained the same across both reporting frameworks.

This dataset consolidates quarterly progress for Canada’s 2022-2024 National Action Plan on Open Government

This file provides a metadata mapping between the Government of Canada’s Open Data Metadata Element Set and Canadian Provincial and Territorial Open Data Metadata Element Sets, where applicable. This was completed as part of a commitment made in the Government of Canada’s 4th National Action Plan, 10.6 Implement a pilot project to move toward cross-jurisdictional common data standards in line with the International Open Data Charter and other international standards – A Cross-jurisdictional metadata mapping is completed with a common set of core elements. Metadata elements were collected from open data portal throughout Canada, and this metadata mapping was completed in collaboration from the contributing provinces and territories.

Financial information is published in the Public Accounts of Canada at the end of each fiscal year, and Open Government publishes this data in CSV format for public use. This dataset maps the tables from the Public Account of Canada to the corresponding Open Government dataset.

The data inventory lists data that is created, collected and managed by the Government of Ontario, including the title, description and frequency of update for each dataset. It also shows whether a dataset is open, will become open, is under review, or is restricted from being open due to reasons outlined by the Open Data Directive. This inventory does not include dataset files or personal information. Datasets listed in the inventory are also available to view on Ontario's data catalogue. We will update this dataset regularly as data continues to be added to the inventory. Provincial agency data inventories are also available.

The Open Government Implementation Plan (OGIP) for Statistics Canada serves to outline the activities that Statistics Canada will undertake to meet the requirements in the Directive on Open Government. It will be updated on an annual basis.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) is responsible for evaluating second official language proficiency in appointment processes through the Second Language Evaluation (SLE) standardized tests for oral proficiency, written expression and reading comprehension in both English and French. The PSC supports deputy heads in maintaining and enhancing a merit-based appointment system by sharing knowledge and providing advice and guidance. The PSC reviews and provides advice to improve assessment tools and processes. Departments and agencies also have access to a range of standardized assessment tools, developed and maintained by the PSC, for selection and development.
