This survey is a unique source for examining the relationship of degree field and occupation in addition to other characteristics of college-educated individuals, including work activities, salary, and demographic information. This dataset includes National Survey of College Graduates assets for 2021.
In 2024, in Portugal, the share of male upper secondary and post-secondary non-tertiary education employed graduates was 74 percent, while the feminine correspondent was lower, at 68 percent. Similarly, 84 percent of tertiary education female graduates were employed, whilst 87 percent of men with the same education level had employment.
The employment rate of young graduates in Portugal has fluctuated through the years. In 2019, over 85 percent of graduates of both genders were employed, whereas, in 2023, 84 percent of male graduates had a job versus almost 90 percent of female ones. In the following year, this trend shifted, with a higher percentage of male graduates having employment. In total, more than 85 percent of Portuguese graduates were employed in 2024.
