    Description

This dataset brings together anonymized records for over 300,000 international graduates—combining graduate‐outcomes survey data with visa, language, and academic information—to enable predictive analysis of:

Employment Status: Build classifiers (e.g., Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting) to forecast whether a graduate is employed, unemployed, or continuing education.

Salary Estimation: Train regression models (Linear, Ridge, Lasso) to estimate annual salary for those employed.

By exploring how Education Level, Field of Study, Language Proficiency, Visa Type, University Ranking, and other socio-demographic factors jointly influence post-graduation success, this dataset supports:

Feature Analysis: Quantify the relative importance of visa category vs. language-test scores vs. GPA, and uncover non-linear interactions (e.g., “Master’s + high IELTS score + long-duration visa”).

    Policy & Institutional Insight:

Inform visa-policy recommendations by measuring the impact of post-study work rights on employability.

Guide universities in targeting language or internship programs to maximize graduate placement rates.

Dashboarding & Visualization: Pre-built Power BI dashboards illustrate trends such as salary distributions by field, employment rates by visa category, and language-impact across sectors.

High school graduates in their twenties have consistently experienced a higher unemployment rate than college graduates in the same age range. However, the unemployment gap between the two education groups has recently narrowed, reaching its lowest level since the late 1970s. This Economic Commentary shows that this narrowing coincides with a decades-long decline, one that began around 2000, in the job-finding rate among young college graduates.

Graduate labour market statistics (GLMS) covers labour market conditions for English domiciled graduates and postgraduates relative to non-graduates.

GLMS was first published in December 2014 and was designed to be published on a quarterly basis. Following consultation with users, the publication has been consolidated into a single annual publication. The new annual publication includes a breakdown of graduate outcomes by different subcategories, such as gender.

We intend to continue publishing GLMS on an annual basis. These are experimental statistics and we would welcome any feedback on the content or format of the publication. Please contact patrick.vanderpant@bis.gsi.gov.uk.

    Description

In 2025, the Masters of Business Administration domain had the highest employability rating among degree types in India at about ** percent, an increase from the previous year. The polytechnic domain had the lowest employability rate of around ** percent. What is employability? Employability refers to attributes that make an individual gain and maintain employment. This may include job-specific or soft skills. Higher employability is considered a precondition for achieving a higher employment rate. Although employability in India has increased to over ** percent from ** percent over a decade ago, there has remained a critical skill mismatch between education and skills. In other words, Indian graduates have been facing a disconnect between what is taught at colleges and what the industry demands. Enhancing employability through skill development Government initiatives like the National Skill Development Corporation and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana aim to promote skill development in India. Public-private partnerships (PPP) have also been instrumental in making skill development initiatives effective in India. For example, TCS has partnered with educational institutions to provide vocational training in digital literacy and soft skills. Other industry giants like Samsung and IBM are planning to launch special training programs in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
