This map relates to Topic Paper 04 Green Belt Review which forms part of Stirling Council's Evidence Report. The Evidence Report is the first stage in the preparation of the new Local Development Plan (LDP3). This Topic Paper summarises the evidence from the Stirling Green Belt Review (2024), which will inform a review of the current spatial strategy and associated green belt designations within the Adopted Stirling Local Development Plan (October 2018) as part of the Proposed Plan. This review will also consider the proposed new green belt designation presented in the registered Thornhill Local Place Plan, as well as any other proposals that may emerge through Local Place Plans or the ‘Call for Ideas and Sites’ consultation at the outset of the Proposed Plan preparation.Data included in the map:Green Belt..................................................(MP097)Countryside Policy Boundary LDP 2018....(MP099)
Summary for Local Authorities: Green Belt Policy in ScotlandPolicy Framework:Green belts are designated in National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4) to manage urban expansion, support regeneration, and protect settlement identity.Local Development Plans (LDPs) determine where green belts are necessary and define their boundaries.Key Purposes of Green Belts:Direct Development – Encourage sustainable growth in suitable areas.Protect Settlement Character – Maintain the landscape and identity of towns and cities.Enhance Access to Open Space – Support public amenity and environmental benefits.Development Restrictions & Exceptions:Generally, development is not permitted in green belts.Exceptions include: Agriculture, forestry, and horticulture. Essential housing for key rural workers. Outdoor recreation, tourism, and leisure activities. Infrastructure (where essential) and cemeteries. This layer was built to show the component parts of the Greenbelt Area as set out in Ontario Regulation 59/05, as amended. ROP Consolidation September 3, 2024.The Greenbelt designations are areas that have Provincial plans and/or specific policies associated with them. There are currently four designations;1) Niagara Escarpment Plan2) Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan3) Protected Countryside; and4) Urban River Valley.
Green Belt is a category of land classification. The idea is for a ring of countryside where urbanisation will be resisted for the foreseeable future, maintaining an area where agriculture, forestry and outdoor leisure can be expected to prevail.

The Digital Geologic Map of George Washington Memorial Parkway and parks in the National Capital Area, Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia is composed of GIS data layers complete with ArcMap 9.3 layer (.LYR) files, two ancillary GIS tables, a Map PDF document with ancillary map text, figures and tables, a FGDC metadata record and a 9.3 ArcMap (.MXD) Document that displays the digital map in 9.3 ArcGIS. The data were completed as a component of the Geologic Resources Inventory (GRI) program, a National Park Service (NPS) Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) funded program that is administered by the NPS Geologic Resources Division (GRD). Source geologic maps and data used to complete this GRI digital dataset were provided by the following: U.S. Geological Survey and Maryland Geological Survey. Detailed information concerning the sources used and their contribution the GRI product are listed in the Source Citation sections(s) of this metadata record (gwmp_metadata.txt; available at http://nrdata.nps.gov/gwmp/nrdata/geology/gis/gwmp_metadata.xml). All GIS and ancillary tables were produced as per the NPS GRI Geology-GIS Geodatabase Data Model v. 2.1. (available at: http://science.nature.nps.gov/im/inventory/geology/GeologyGISDataModel.cfm). The GIS data is available as a 9.3 personal geodatabase (gwmp_geology.mdb), and as shapefile (.SHP) and DBASEIV (.DBF) table files. The GIS data projection is NAD83, UTM Zone 18N. That data is within the area of interest of George Washington Memorial Parkway, Rock Creek Park, National Capital Parks-East, Greenbelt Park and Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park.
